Subject: Request for Assistance and Compensation - 2019 Kenworth Transmission Replacement &…read moreWarranty Concerns I am writing to formally express my concerns and request assistance regarding the purchase and condition of three Kenworth trucks my company acquired from MHC Joplin in October 2024. This letter outlines several unresolved issues we've encountered with the 2019 Kenworth ("Blue Truck") and seeks compensation for a significant financial burden we incurred after repeated assurances regarding support and warranty coverage. Background: In October 2024, I purchased three used Kenworth trucks through David Guilford. It was clearly communicated and mutually agreed upon that each unit would be financed under separate loans for flexibility in resale, based on past difficulties experienced with grouped loans. Additionally, I requested warranties on all trucks, as we were transitioning out of older Freightliner units with similar issues. The value of warranties and separate loans was thoroughly discussed and agreed upon with David prior to signing. Upon receiving the final paperwork from Paccar Financial, I noted that all trucks were combined into a single loan and no warranties were included. After expressing concern, David advised that correcting this would delay the process. Due to urgent operational needs, I reluctantly moved forward under the assurance that third-party warranties would be provided -- which were never properly fulfilled. Ongoing Issues: Upon delivery, the 2019 Kenworth (Blue Truck) was already in the shop for service in Joplin. My driver picked it up and within 200 miles, experienced ABS warning lights. We were advised to take it to our local shop. We spent $2,500 in labor costs alone to diagnose the issue. While ABS codes were reported, transmission error codes were also detected from the outset. Over the next 6 months, this truck experienced multiple failures and escalating maintenance costs, culminating in a complete transmission failure. We paid $22,000 for a replacement transmission. I reached out in June 2025 to request assistance, given the early detection of transmission-related issues and the fact that this failure occurred within a short period of ownership. Unfortunately, I was told that nothing could be done and was not referred to any higher representative. Additional Context: I later discovered that Paccar issued a transmission failure campaign, but only for larger corporate customers (e.g., Amazon, Schneider). Despite similar failures and known issues with these transmissions, smaller customers like us were not included. One of the 2020 Kenworth units also had a sensor failure, for which partial reimbursement was provided only after repeated follow-ups. Altogether, we have spent over $75,000 in repairs on these three trucks -- a burden that would have been avoidable with proper warranty support or transparency about existing known issues. Request: I am respectfully requesting partial reimbursement or assistance specifically for the $22,000 transmission replacement on the 2019 Kenworth. I believe this is a fair and justified request given: Transmission issues were documented shortly after purchase. A manufacturer campaign existed for similar failures, which we were excluded from. Assurances were made regarding warranty coverage that were never delivered. Our decision to proceed in good faith was based on urgent operational timelines and trust in your dealership's representation. We chose to work with MHC Kenworth and David based on a previously positive experience, and because of the urgency of our fleet needs. However, the financial and operational impact of these failures has been severe, and I feel it is only fair that your dealership and/or Paccar consider providing support. Please let me know the next steps toward resolving this matter. I am willing to discuss this further with the appropriate person or department, and would prefer to handle this amicably without further escalation. Thank you for your attention.
