This financial institution deserves to have a federal law suit against them! I have a balance of over 1,000$ in my account, and my money is unavailable, and why? The answer is just because, higher one thinks I don't need access to my money so they can collect interest on it. You may ask what I did wrong the answer nothing, I was locked out of my account for no reason. Now I am steranded with no gas, no food, and no way to get home, and to top it off it is -5 degrees outside. Guess what I can't get a hotel room because my card isn't working because higher one doesn't think I have a right to spend my money. Can't get cofee, and it looks like I am sleeping in my car with a hungry stomach. If I survive tonight in my Jeep I will be contacting a lawyer come monday. Between being charged everytime I make a purchase, or withdrawl, and I don't even get the benefit of having access to my money, because they randomly shut down not to mention the fact that I can't call them after normal banking hours to fix my prediciment like my FREE CHASE account does. Sacramento City College uses Higherone and it is total bullshit! These guys receive the financial aid money and then just sit on it for a month or more collecting interest all along the way. How many billions are they making off of us each semester of school by delaying the transfer to the students!! I'm trying to get my refund money out of my account and I kept getting transferred over and over again from the HigherOne customer service to my university financial service. They're saying they cannot access my online account if I do not know my security code for my HigherOne Card, but since I cannot remember the code (I opened this card 2+ years ago and never used it again) they cannot do anything about it. When I call HigherOne, they tell me to contact the University to solve the problem. When I call my University, they tell me to contact HigherOne to for the issue. Horrible management and horrible service. My refund money is just sitting in the account getting sucked dry MONTHLY with their stupid FEES and whatnot. You are able to "sign" for FAFSA and the Master's Promissory Note electronically, but this institution erects the needless barrier of using snail-mail if you dare to remove your funds from their grubby fingers. Now I read the reviews here and find that the bank engages in the same vampiric tactics that the larger banks used to, before Dodd-Frank outlawed it. The loophole I believe is that Higher One has less than $10 billion in assets, so it is exempt from some of the consumer protection reforms.
