Nestled in Washington Heights, Edge Hotel offers a clean, comfortable, and safe stay…read more Edge Hotel is Washington Heights first (and maybe still only?) boutique hotel. Blending into the surrounding neighborhood, it took me a minute to see the sign when I arrived via taxi. You enter into a small front desk area (lobby would be generous--there's two small benches, a small snack wall, and the front desk). Elevators are within view of the front desk and will take you with very little waiting straight to you floor. I stayed on the 9th floor, which offered a nice view of the surrounding neighborhood. The rooms are small but clean and comfy. I had a single queen room, which offered a queen sized bed, small desk, TV on the wall at the foot of the bed, and a small wardrobe to hang your clothing. I was able to completely unpack my suitcase which was a plus. The bathroom has a stall shower, which is spacious enough but the bathroom itself is quite small as well and could prove uncomfortable for larger folks. The walls are pretty thin and I was able to clearly hear my neighbor's TV. It wasn't a volume issue because I could also clearly hear them open their blinds each morning. It didn't bother me but if you're a light sleeper, it could be challenging if you had a noisy neighbor (earplugs could be handy, maybe?). They have a small gym available for customers which is always nice. Over the course of my three night stay, I had several interactions with the folks at the front desk and they were all equally lovely. They truly have delightful humans working here who were so considerate and made my stay all the brighter. Get to it!

"This is the changing point of the heights"…read more I gotta say I was very impressed walking past this newly built hotel!walking across the street this hotel caught my eye and I was actually waiting around to go to a yelp event (cause I didn't really want to truck it back to the Bronx just to wait) so I decided, with the amount of time I had left to walk in and see what this place was about! "The lobby" It was extremely hot that day and I already had a button up shirt and a tie so coming into the lobby the AC hit my entire body instantly as the doors opened up! I noticed the front desked people were up front, they greeted me upon me walking in and I asked if I could have some water (I was dehydrated so I thought I asked) and they actually gave me a bottle of water! So that in itself was a awesome gesture in my book. So I took a seat the front lobby seats were colorful and literally so comfortable I was dozing off lol "The bathroom" So of course I wanted to do some sight-seeing so I walked around and found their bathroom and it was so clean and fresh I was more than happy to use it. "Rooms, rooms, rooms" From walking from floor to floor (cause I was walking around looking in the building) I noticed the rooms (thanks the cleaning lady) being finished and it was a descent size room with a king size bed, with a huge TV and the bathroom from what I saw was very upscale was very impressive! "The results/overall" I'd would love to throw events here! I noticed that they were more space for things to be done so in curious to see what in stores for this hotel. This place just opened and already they choose to open in the heights which could be a hit or miss but already they are making a excellent name for themselves here in the heights! I wish them all but the best and I will be back to try this place out!

The people…read morerunning the place don't seem to know what they're doing and they don't even accept credit cards. How do run a hotel without accepting credit cards unless it's a brothel? Unfortunately We had no comforter or blankets on the bed. I guess they expected us to use the bed spread as a blanket, which I could only tolerate because the hotel was so new. The towels were very rough and too small. Although it's a brand new hotel the light in the bathroom didn't work and it took ten minutes to get hot water. On top of that...the balcony door would not lock. Not too safe in NY City. The value for the dollar was low. They have the nerve to charge $149 and actually raise the rates on the weekend as if $149 CASH wasn't punishing enough. I think, unless you can't drive or take the subway, your better off finding a hotel in another neighborhood... unless the Cliff Hotel dramatically improves their offering.

I am sharing disheartening story a month after I was traumatized by the experience i had with this…read moreHotel On Friday March 22 at 5 a.m., I arrived at the Tremont Hotel after working all night. I had lost my purse, which had my house keys and credit card in it, so all I had with me was my phone. I asked the hotel if I could pay with Apple Pay since I didn't have my card, and I just needed a safe place to stay until morning. The receptionist told me they only accept cash or card. I then asked if I could book through Booking.com and pay online, would they let me check in. The receptionist said yes. So I made a reservation and paid upfront through Booking.com. But when I showed him the confirmation, he suddenly told me I couldn't check in until 2 p.m. He hadn't said that earlier. Even though I had already paid, he then told me I had to wait *outside* the hotel. It was 5 a.m., I was alone, a woman in a vulnerable situation, and I had gone out of my way just to find a safe place. I was shocked. When I asked for a refund, the hotel refused. I had spent the last bit of money I had, thinking I'd at least have somewhere safe to stay. Being turned away like that--with proof of payment--was heartbreaking. The receptionist should have told me from the start that I wouldn't be allowed to check in until 2 p.m. Asking someone who's already in distress to wait outside in the early hours of the morning, despite having same day reservation, is completely unacceptable. And refusing to give me a refund made everything worse. This whole experience was deeply disappointing and honestly, shameful.

Here is a summary of why I say this: 1) The gym is below Hilton standard and just plain sad. 2 treadmills, one that is broken. No AC in gym no weights no bench no mat Two old ellipticals Two old style sit down bikes 2) Diamond Members, you do not get any love here. Arrived at 3:45 was told to wait until 4pm by the "front desk supervisor in a suit". Room was not ready at 4 and switched to another room. Tried asking for my complimentary waters as a diamond member and Supervisor did not want to give it to me and basically was giving the lady helping me a hard time. He never actually talked to me directly just to her about me. Very odd. 3) Check out time, there was a line 6 deep for checkout with one person at the desk. I just came back from a 5 mile run outside (because the one treadmill was occupied) and when the "Hilton honors" line was opened walked to the front and was basically made to feel like a POS because as a diamond member I walked to the front. This place is the worst.

The service was great. Everything came on time, nice and hot. We ordered fried calamari appetizers and then the oxtails and red snapper entrées, the food was delicious, It was hot and very tasty. We also ordered cocktails as well, which were on point , potent and delicious. later in the evening there was a DJ who played nice, house music , which added to the buzzing atmosphere , we will definitely be going back.

Located in the Mott Haven area of South Bronx, it isn't very far from the Yankee Stadium. So it's convenient for baseball fans. We have family who recently moved into this area, and we needed a place to stay that would be close by. This is a small, cramped hotel. The lobby and front area is unassuming, and the noise from small bar area was overwhelming that night! I mean we couldn't hear the agent speak to us about the room. Granted the Knicks were about to win a Finals game, so people were in a celebratory mood. Our room was on the 10th floor. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the hallway and inside the room. I do a light cleaning, but i didn't need to do much because it was already clean. The shower and toilet area is tiny, as is the detached sink area with faux closet. But clean. This room is cramped but it's NY and it's a modestly priced hotel, so I get it. They provide space under the bed for storage, but we didn't want to use that. The bed and linens were clean and smelled fresh. Mattress slightly firm. No stains anywhere. Only the entrance area had slightly dusty floors, but again it is to be expected to have a tiny bit of grime from shoes walking about. They provide tiny bars of Dove soap and Dove body wash/shampoo, shower cap, paper cups. Some things to consider- again cramped! King bed was just about against the wall. Outside the window, the subway train rattles every few minutes. We could hear it from the 10th floor-all night. So bring earplugs if you are sensitive. Also, the shower and toilet area has no real walls, only frosted glass partitions. Which is okay for solo guests or couples, but you WILL see someone showering on the other side of that glass! I won't share the pics, but I snapped hubby sudsing up his bits. hee hee There's a garage attached but owned and operated separately. Overall, I would come back if I needed to stay in this section of town, because it's clean and the staff were pretty nice.
