My mom and I have been coming to High Societea for many years now and it's one of our favorite places. We always have a great experience-we love the cozy, quaint atmosphere of the tea room. We visited today for the Mother's Day Queen's Tea. I called to make a reservation 2 months in advance since they book up so quickly. In general, reservations are recommended as seating is limited, especially on weekends. When you arrive, you are presented with a prix-fix menu. On non-holidays, you usually have a choice between the soup or the salad of the day. You select your pot of tea from over 60 premium tea flavors. Today, I chose the "Paris" special tea, which had notes of vanilla, caramel, and bergamot. For the Mother's Day Queen's Tea, we had the broccoli and cheddar quiche, a pear, goat cheese, candied walnut, mixed green salad, scones, assorted mini sandwiches, and several mini desserts. Every course was fresh and excellent. The caramel scones are one of the best things I have ever eaten. They are served warm with clotted cream and lemon curd. The caramel is so goey and melts in your mouth. We brought some orange juice and prosecco to have mimosas with our tea. They have glassware in the back that you can request when making your reservation. The service is always top-notch. Holly is the best server! She is super sweet and always hardworking. At the entrance, there is a little gift shop with lots of cute vintage items, tea-themed trinkets, and some of the loose lea tea available in small bags. We love coming here and hope to be back again soon. We loved the flower wall and couch for pictures in the front when you walk in. everyone thought the food was very good and we really enjoyed the items that were offered. Took my mom and teen nieces for a tea party. The place is absolutely charming. Welcoming porch with rocking chairs. Inside a lil mini store to buy teas, scone mix , trinkets, etc. we were greeted immediately but came early so we enjoyed the porch a bit before getting seated. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I like that each individual gets to order their own tea and food for their own tastes. I was hungry so I ordered the Queens tea to sample everything. It featured sweets and savory. A caramel scone that was swoon worthy and served with clotted crème and lemon curd. We did not care for the lavender scone. The lavender's floral notes were just too overwhelming to our palates. Sandwiches were spinach balls, chicken salad, and traditional cucumber. The spinach was just too dry but it's a good vegetarian option. We also had a vegetable quiche slice, soup, and salad. Everything tasted fresh and flavored. BEWARE: Confirm pricing before booking We had a 4:00 PM reservation on December 7th for 2 adults and 3 children under age 10, booked by phone. At no point during the reservation call, upon arrival, or during the meal were we told that this was a special holiday event priced at $60 per person, with no children's pricing, even for preschool-age kids. No menu or pricing was provided at the table. We only learned of the cost at checkout, which was extremely surprising given the pricing publicly listed elsewhere. We expected to pay $21.95 per child. Imagine our shock to be charged $60 (for a 4 year old who barely even ate anything!) That said, the tea itself was enjoyable, and we really appreciated their ability to accommodate gluten-free and nut allergies, which they handled well. The variety of teas was impressive. Afterward, I emailed the owner to raise these concerns and was told he would look into it, but I never received a follow-up. He said the pricing is on their website and social media but on their website it's buried in the events page and I don't follow their social media. I made a phone call and booked a tea reservation and didn't expect to have to cross reference multiple online sources for accurate pricing. Unfortunately, the lack of transparency and follow through overshadowed the experience and left us with a pour taste for what should have been a lovely holiday treat. Was so happy to try this Tea house for the first time! Went with my mother and sister and we were so impressed with our experience. We got three different levels of tea (light, princess, and queen) and got to try a lot of what was offered! The scones were fresh, warm, and delicious. They rotate different flavors, but we had the white chocolate cranberry and caramel. Clotted cream and lemon curd were lovely as well. The rest of the food was a great fresh take on classic tea staples. I was surprised by the savories which included an amazing bruschetta crostini! The tea selection is vast and each has a good description so you know the flavor notes. Overall the place is clean and cozy, nice to come for celebrations or just a fun afternoon. That combined with the price and quality that you receive is a really good experience. FYI, it is more English tea than it is asian style. I did the Queen's tea set ($37 per person) that came with tea, scones, savory and sweet. Benefit is that you can do a junior set and every single section is additive! There is a HUGE selection of teas. I highly recommend booking and checking their website as their whole menu is there. Scones are really delicious. The entire set is actually quite filling. You leave satisfied for sure. Service is great as they were happy to serve and provide ample explanations regarding the menu itself. Went to a bridal shower recently. Not my "cup of tea" since the decaffeinated teas were very limited. I think this was due to person who picked the menu. For a tea house party it was disappointing to have only 1 decaf offering in an afternoon. Place is very kitschy, full of tea and Victorian styled stuff. Again, not my style. It's booked up for months in advance but they're usually busier on the weekends..but somehow I was able to be squeezed in for the a Saturday afternoon spot after calling for it 9 days in advance. It was their only opening! It fits the aesthetic of a old time tea parlor and since my friend really enjoy Victorian era vibes, she was really delighted by everything there. The tea cozies are lovely, the tea selection is vast.. I loved the smoky Russian caravan and the variety of tea set options. I know can choose a different tea from your partner if you're a small group since they give everyone individual pots, not sure if it's different for bigger groups past 6-7 people. I would also just check in with dietary restrictions to start off because I was asked that on the phone but not in person. I cannot recommend their afternoon tea enough!! My friend and I had been wanting to treat ourselves to a little afternoon tea while we catch up and chat. I easily booked a reservation the day before and we ended up staying there for 4 hours talking, they didn't rush us out at all and it wasn't too busy on a Friday afternoon so we were able to stay and enjoy ourselves in the cute and cozy atmosphere. Their tea menu has so many options, it was hard to choose but we really enjoyed both the glitzy mama and the crème brûlée tea! We went with the Queen's tea which included a broccoli cheddar quiche with the option of soup or salad, two scones, finger sandwiches and a variety of desserts. Best tea house I have been to! The inside is done so well. Decorated to perfection. Feels vintage...but still well kept. Some tea houses are very Victorian, but not kept well and you feel like you're going to inhale a mound of dust or something. This place is super clean and bright. All of the tea cups are different - which I like! My blueberry crumble tea was like having a waffle in liquid form - so good. The food was also great! We booked the Queen's Tea Party for my Mother-in-Law's 70th birthday party here and I was ultimately very happy with this place! Their party options and prices are listed on their website, and they take deposits to hold dates over the phone, so the booking process was quick and easy. I believe we were told that the room can accommodate up to 50, but I thought our 35 was the perfect amount without feeling too cramped (we did also have a gift table and cake table so that took away some space). They do a great job at decorating the space so you don't have to bring any décor or centerpieces (they honestly probably wouldn't even fit on the tables), and they do a great job of giving the place a homey vibe. Both the food and tea exceeded my expectations. We had the choice of 4 unlimited teas and each was tastier than the last. I was also surprised at how filling the food was! Spaced throughout our party we had: - A caramel scone & Lavender vanilla scone - The broccoli and cheddar quiche - The signature High Societea salad - Tomato/mozzarella/pesto sandwich + cucumber cream cheese sandwich + baked brie and jam tartlet + chicken salad sandwhich - Brownie + fruit cobbler + chocolate phyllo cup with cannoli filling. Most recently came here for my aunts' early birthday celebration, we had the Queens Tea which included: your choice of tea in the cutest tea pot with tea cover/quilt, small salad, bite size broccoli and cheddar quiche, cucumber sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, caramel scones, white chocolate cranberry scones, and some savory cheesy toast, for sweets were macaroons, some kind of cheesecake brownie bite of I remember correctly? and pistachio cookie bars. My favorite were the scones with lemon curd and clotted cream and the brownie bites. I had the Silent Night special tea for the holidays with was coconut and lavender infused--so delicious and light! i booked a reservation here 2 months in advance, so would recommend you do this. While there, the lady had so many calls talking about reservations 1-2 months in advanced. I wish i was told that on the day I came in there would be a set menu, but it all worked out in the end. They had some 'no show' tables, so they brought us extra glasses of sweet champagne (which is included in the high tea). service was fantastic and made me feel very comfortable. We ordered the Queens Tea and the High tea. we had browsed the menu before going and we did not study the menu. It's a shame that I have to give this rating because we love this place. However being overcharged almost $80 and the owner Laura refusing to help us but insisting that the prices were last years even after I explained the 22nd did not fall on a Friday last year left such a bad taste in my mouth. So we had a reservation for Friday 12/22 at 6-8pm. This is the listing that we have from their website in December. We were charged $49.99 per person instead of the price listed in the attached picture of $39.99 per person. It was so busy when we checked we didn't notice that we were overcharged till the next morning. I called and spoke to owner Laura. I told her have their listing at 39.99 per person she insisted that's not the case. I covered to send her a picture of it but she refused. She said she would call me back. When she called me back about 10 min later she said to check the website. When I asked when it was changed she insisted that it was always like that. I explained I have a screen shot from that it says $39.99. She was adamant that it was never listed at 39.99 but always at $49.99. I was so upset that I had to just tell her to keep the $80. It's a shame that I won't be back even though I love it. When someone outright lies I just can't return. If you go, check your receipt immediately regardless of how busy it is because I'm out $80. It's shameful on their part. These were some of the best scones I've had outside of the UK. The clotted cream and in-house lemon curd were also outstanding. The food was so plentiful that I had to take some home! The space is intimate and cozy, and the attention to detail was incredible. Highlights include: teapots in handmade floral print cozies, beautiful tea strainers, silver tart servers with curved handles, demarara rough cut sugar cubes, and a rosebud garnish on the clotted cream. Finally, the staff was friendly, warm and welcoming. We were impressed by our server's encyclopedic knowledge of tea and pastry. Very hard to reach them to get a reservation and even after leaving multiple messages I didn't receive calls back. Finally reached them and was able to go same day. The tea is great and treats are pretty good but service was slow (took about 2 hours total with probably about 30 minutes between ordering and getting scones which is the first thing served). There appeared to only be one person working all the tables in the room so she was understandably quite busy. Nice experience but for $36/person we hoped to be attended to a bit better. Tracey Rose Dine in | Dinner | $30-50 I booked a seating ftotal of 11. We had a 3:30 seating. We waited a half hour, which put us at 4 PM for a waitress to take our tea order. We were served our tiny salad in a very small bowl and a slither of what they called quiche at 4:16. We had a three tier serving platter on our table that only had two plates the entire time, (The third plate stayed empty the entire seating) and neither plate was full enough for 11 people. That was served at 4:38. At 5:04 they served finger foods size for toddlers, not adults, (which I was told when I booked it we were having adult size servings throughout the sitting) All the Sandwich pieces had stale bread. Again, only two dishes on a three tier serving in the middle of our table. There was clearly Not enough food for the 11 adults. At 5:14 PM they put two dishes again with little pieces of a brownie tiny little bite-size pieces of a cookie with bacon, and little round cookies with pumpkins on them, not enough for 11 and for the price I paid, which I think it was $48 a person, the bread was STALE. At 5:23 my sister-in-law went to get off her chair and the Chair broke, and she slid halfway on the floor and onto me sitting next to her. I immediately got the waitress and handed her the chair over the table. There should have never been a broken chair at the table to begin with. At 5:27 we were served a cobbler which was RAW. By 5:31 Laura (I think that's the receptionist name) Told us they are getting ready to close(she said they close at 6 PM which she never told me that when I walked in the door that I only had a two hour seating.) When I booked this reservation, I told them this was a small baby shower for my daughter. Immediately we had to start opening presents because we were being pushed out of the restaurant. They were literally cleaning the tables around us with cleaner and sprays while we were standing right next to them, mind you, my daughter-in-law, and my daughter are pregnant . The service was horrible as we waited for water on the table, it took the waitress over an hour and a half to bring ONE pitcher of water and TWO glasses. We had ELEVEN PEOPLE NOT TWO we all wanted water. We also asked for refills on two pots of tea, and never received them. I was paying almost $500 and everyone was disappointed with the service and the snacks they served. I would Never recommend this place and I will never go back there. The management should refund me my money (I paid cash) because everything was horrible. We all went home hungry and very frustrated.
