Okay, this place is NOT a business place where you assume that they offer the type of service as a normal hair salon would. Uff, does it make sense what I just said? What I am trying to say is, Kim has her regulars... and although she accepts walk-ins but she runs her business as a mom-and-pop shop. Clients and her will adjust the business appointments based on each other schedule. If you can't tolerate this, then this is NOT the right place for you. She is a nice lady, but she has her own characters that people might mistaken it as being rude. You just need to get to know her, then you will understand that she is being who she is. If you have zero tolerance to patience, I don't think it will work either. I've been to her place for trimming, haircut, highlights, and coloring. She cuts good. I like the way she did my layers, and she charges reasonably! Last time I went there, female hair cut is about $35. I believe male haircut is $28. I keep coming to her because I don't care about fancy place, perfum-ey room, or even ambience... I am not there to have a date. I need a hair cut - period. That place serves its purpose and she does it good. It's a small salon studio, it located right beside Azteca Tacos. She is the only one running the business. It's a family style place. Cash only. Parking is available at the back. Restroom is also available on-site. No wifi available. Photos to follow next time I go there. I. Called this salon because she shows 5 stars over & over. So I called to book an appointment and owner/ hairdresser. She was VERY VERYI Rude! I am not sure if it was I asked her to trim my hair due to prior damage, it now my hair is fine and needs a style! Buyers beware! I I even asked if she can take me next month, she said no to EVER!!! I've gone here for the first time after reading the yelp reviews and I definitely agree with them. It was obvious that my stylist was paying a lot of attention to detail with my hair, I have very thick hair and she legitimately went through all the layers to give it the cut I wanted. I'm so used to other stylists just going through the outer layer and leaving the inner layers as is, so I'm very happy to see this! I also loved her recommendations and suggestions about the cut I wanted because honestly, I don't really know what makes my hair look better or worse with my face shape. However, her suggestions and the cut was spot on! She's managed to get a short cut look good on a very long and wide face. All this at a decent price. I've been getting compliments all day at work and I'm definitely coming back when it grows out! read more

I needed to cut my hair to donate. I lopped off 12 inches!! Woohoot! The lady works by herself - it's not your typical fancy Korean hair salon but she does a great job styling and cutting. I can't speak to other services there - but the cut (i had to get a short cut/soccer mom hair cut) I received was amazing. It's been about 2 weeks. 2 weeks is enough time to see if the cut is well done or not - as it grew out, i see that this cut is easier and easier to care for. I love Kim! She owns the store and has other stations, but works alone in the store. She is the only person I trust to cut my hair. Not a lot of stylists can cut Asian hair, but Kim knows exactly what to do. I've been coming here since 2008, about every 6 months. My usual hair cut is layers. When I was younger she used to cut my bangs perfectly. Now I do a center part with layers and she still does it right every time. I hate when layers look too choppy which is very easy to cut and ruin with stick-straight, Asian hair. Kim does it perfect every time. She has been cutting hair for a very long time and I know she has very loyal clients. She is very personable and we have gotten to know each other very well over the years! I have walked in last minute a few times, but just make sure to give her a call and ask if she's busy before you come in. After a horrible hair cut from Fantastic Sams, I looked for someone who knew how to cut and handle Asian hair and I'm so happy my friend recommended her! I have been coming here for years. The hairsylist is awesome! My husband (who is really picky about his hair) started going to her as well & he loves her too! The hairstylist works alone so appointments are a must! So, keep her # in your contacts like I do :) She is super friendly and reallly knows what she's doing. For example, my friend wanted to get bangs and she decided to go to a Super Cuts... they totally messed up! My friend called me in tears so I sent her to High Sense Beauty Salon. Best haircut I have ever gotten! I went here for the first time today, and at first I was afraid I wouldn't be able to explain to the lady exactly how I want my hair. But she really listens to you and tries her best to make sure she gets it right. I'm not sure what to say about girls' hair, but I can tell you she definitely knows how to cut guys' hair. So if you're a guy in the Glendale area, stop by for a clean, 14$ haircut. The place is owned by a really nice Korean lady. She works the shop alone, so you might have to wait if people get there before you. However, she is sincere and cuts hair very well! read more

Disclaimer: I haven't had many experiences at hair salons. On New Year's Day, I don't know what I was thinking but decided to have my hair cut. After calling around with no responses, I stumped across Joy Kim on Yelp. I asked her if she was open and she said "No, but 2 of my regular clients had emergency appointments so I can fit you in as a 3rd". To me it was impressive that her regular clients rely on her to do emergency appointments but the fact that she obliged them on New Year's Day is even more impressive. As I mentioned above, I don't go to hair salons often. In fact, this was my first time at one in about 2 years! You see, I grow out my hair to donate it to Locks of Love or Wigs 4 Kids and had Joy cut off about 13 inches. She then asked me what I wanted to do with my shorter hair style.... which I hadn't thought of until this point! So I did what anybody would do... I said "I have no idea, you decide!". She did, and everybody thinks it looks great so I guess I have no complaints. By the way, Joy is fun to chat with, she's pretty cool, she's got a great personality, and is patient having to deal with a novice like me! read more

She's simply amazing. She cut both mine and my son's hair--we both have different issues that makes our hair difficult-- and we both loved the results of her recommendations. We call in the morning and leave a message then she calls back and schedules for that same afternoon or following day if she's booked. I found this place by accident (next door is a taco stand that is pretty darn good). I went there to see if I could get a shampoo and a blow out the last minute (it takes me over an hour to shampoo and blow dry my hair due its length) and at times, I just simply lack the energy to do it myself. Having said that, she gave me an awesome blow out and ony charged $17! i have had a last minute blow out at other places for double the price so I was thrilled. I would make an appointment going forward however because she had clients back to back. read more

The lady there is very nice. I explained to her what I wanted and there was a bit of a misunderstanding, but she worked with me to figure out what I wanted. That kind of threw me off but I was desperate to get a haircut. She cut the front of my hair to show me how long its going to be and I agreed with it. In the end, my hair was a lot shorter than I anticipated which was kinda disappointing seeing that she showed me from the beginning how long its going to be and it ended up being an inch or more shorter. I usually go all the way to Ktown for a haircut but decided to try someone close by. Glad I did! I told Kim what I preferred and asked her advice for what she thought would look best. Kim was very knowledgeable about what kind of cut and style would look good with my face type (I have thick frizzy hair and she gave me a cut that would make it feel lighter and sleeker while keeping the long length I wanted) and thorough when cutting hair. On top of that, she was nice and professional. Her prices are reasonable too! The hours are on her door say Tuesday through Saturday 9:30-7 but make sure to call her in advance to make an appointment. I'm not sure if she's always there (Yelp says by appointment only but unsure if this is true). She also has some toys for kids to play with if you bring them. It's across the street from Glendale High School, right next to Taco Azteca. I found street parking right in front. Cash only. I will definitely be back! :) So much easier than driving through traffic to get to Ktown! read more

I've been coming to Kim for 13yrs and she always makes me look awesome and the price is good as well. Call ahead and she can usually get you an appointment when needed. Kim is a great lady, very nice. After having a fair share of bad haircuts in my life, it's worth driving out of the way for a great looking haircut.
