The bed is very comfortable, and the linens are high quality and soft. Loved the little deck, and that we were able to cast movies from our phones on the bedroom TV. It's so quaint and artsy, and the stairs provide a built in mandatory workout. I feel like not only would I be a happier person, but I'd also be thinner. Word to the wise, if you are out of shape and do not want to broadcast that to the person you are sharing a bed with ... not going to happen. Now, the owner is incredibly sweet. He gets up and puts out bird feed every morning so that by the time you wake up birds will be all a flutter outside your windows. How amazing is that? Even if I never made it out of bed before 11. They also provide fresh bread, eggs, milk and a little OJ to get you started that first morning ... or to devour that first night after hitting up the local bars. Whatever. I only spent a weekend, but a longer stay would definitely be preferable. It's so relaxing and peaceful, 2 days is not enough. P.S. I wasn't kidding about living here. What kind of deal would I get on an indefinite stay?

They will host family reunions, weddings and any other type of gathering you need. They are part of the local garden tour and will be having a Halloween Haunt coming up the end of October. We highly recommend this place for a one nighter or a long weekend or more. Great views of the night sky as well. We were able to see the Milky Way for the first time in years! My family loved it and hated to have to head back to reality in California Reasonable rates, pet friendly, free parking and close to local "lots to do's". Looking forward to all the future plans they have and will be returning as often as we can. Also, they have two EV charging stations for guest or if you are just passing through. Nice addition and service to meet the growing need...

The interior has a classic Victorian B&B feel -- a little dark and creaky but also quiet and spacious. The breakfast is straightforward, freshly made but without frills (e.g., no cheese for eggs/omelet), and the French toast was a highlight. The only major complaint was that a key is provided for the main house itself but not for the individual room -- there seemed to be no way of locking our room upon leaving it (a sliding latch is affixed to the interior but can only be implemented while inside the space). Assumably any other guest could enter our room while we were away. Study the history of the town and the mining industry. Next, study the history of what was left of the town when mining left and before the art colony moved in. With all of your new found knowledge in mind, go ahead and book a stay at the Calumet & Arizona Guest House. The B&B is impeccably cleaned and lovingly maintained by some very loyal, dedicated, and pleasant employees. The morning breakfast is wonderful and filling, and you can fill up on whatever and however much you want. On the weekend we stayed, the choices included pancakes, French toast, eggs, homemade granola, homemade quiche, among other selections. Also, juice, coffee and tea were available, and everything was cooked to order either by the owner or an experienced employee. We were encouraged to eat as much as we wanted, and we could choose as many items as we desired. As for the venue itself, you will need to evaluate yourself before staying here. If you are comfortable with dogs and cats inhabiting some portions of your personal space on the property, you should be fine. Also, if you are fascinated by history and personal photographs as well as an eclectic assortment of photos, curios, and kitsch dating anywhere from the turn of the century to the 1960's, you will absolutely love the Calumet & Arizona Guest House. Look carefully. There are plenty of hidden treasures to be found! One item of note: in the main building, some rooms share bathrooms in a "Jack and Jill" fashion. If this is an issue with you, clarify before booking your room. In conclusion, if you are looking for a sterile, contemporary room like the Holiday Inn or another name-brand chain of hotels, this property is NOT it, and you should absolutely not stay here. If "clutter" bothers you, even if it absolutely clean, don't stay here. If you are a minimalist, stay in Tucson, and make Bisbee a day-trip, because there are no chain hotels/motels to be found here and you will be disappointed no matter where you stay. On the other hand, if you want to enjoy your trip to Bisbee with an overnight stay in a quiet residential part of town, the Calumet and Arizona Guest House is a wonderful place to experience the re-creation of several decades of Americana gone by. It is obvious that the owners embrace history in general, family history, and the history of Bisbee. Go here with open eyes, and you will LOVE your visit. We did.

We enjoyed it enough to book it for our second trip. We contacted the owner, sent in our deposit, confirmed via email and looked forward to our stay. We arrived an hour after check-in, only to find that no one was on the premises to check us in. We tried in vain to call the contact number we were given, but to no avail. It was very hot, and we had all of our luggage and gear in our hot car with no where to go. We decided to drive into the nearest town to get lodging, since we figured we were out of luck. We called and called and even emailed. All the while, we were frantically trying to find alternate lodging on Friday night of Cinco de Mayo weekend, a very busy weekend. Finally, after a frantic few hours, we heard from the owner. He apologized but said he was with visiting with friends and just completely forgot about us. We had dinner reservations that night for a five-star restaurant that only takes reservations. We quickly unpacked and freshened up for our dinner. By now, it was dark. We returned from our dinner and went to bed. When we awoke, we realized that the guest house had not been cleaned. The coffee pot had evaporated coffee and dried coffee grounds. The floor had not been swept, and there were bugs, dust and cobwebs all over the place. The bathroom linens smelled of mildew, so those had to washed again before we could use them. Finally, there were hairs and gunk on the back of the toilet seat, where the seat attaches to the bowl. We decided to just make the best of it and cleaned up ourselves as best we could. We had no cell service at the place, when we did during the previous year. This, coupled with the other factors, made us decide to check out a day early. Imagine our surprise when we finally got through to the owner (due to the very sketchy cell service) to tell him we were leaving (we had already fulfilled his minimum nights stay), only to have him balk at the fact that we were checking out late. We were shocked, since we had to check in a full four hours after check-in time, due to his error. The final straw was the fact that we left some items behind and when we contacted him to have them returned (a cost of a little over five dollars) he wanted to be reimbursed for sending them. Wow. Really? After bilking us out of basically four hours of our stay, he wanted to nickel and dime us on postage? Needless to say, we will not be returning. Stay here at your own risk. Internet connection is very slow, no cell service, and inattentive owners.

The hotel itself is quaint, charming, and perfectly suited to Bisbee's artistic, historic vibe. The location couldn't be better--up above the town of Bisbee, yet still cozy and relaxing. A special tip: definitely get the add-on if you enjoy margaritas or champagne--it's a fun and thoughtful touch that elevates the stay. It's a very cozy, wholesome location that you can spend the day lounging in- once you're done exploring the town, of course. I stayed in a one-bedroom suite on the ground floor; it had a decently sized kitchen & living room, along with a front balcony that allowed me to sit on the porch by the main entrance. The kitchen was stocked with cooking supplies, a microwave, fridge (w/ a Brita filter) & a coffee machine. The living room included a small, electric fireplace that worked well in keeping the area toasty in January. There was also a sink that was placed outside the bathroom, so someone can wash their hands while another person does more private matters separately. The bedroom had a King-sized mattress, and a door that led to a backyard where you can sit while looking at a painting of 'Virgin de Guadalupe.' When you enter the hotel, you're more than likely to not encounter any staff, since they leave everything you need for your stay in a slot on a large counter. You can't miss this spot; it is to the right when you first walk in- passed the staircase. If you do need help for any reason though, the office is right next to the counter labeled, "STAFF ONLY." This was a new way of doing customer service for me, which I really liked, and I hope to find other hotels that can manage this system. The location is beautiful and gives a sense that you're not in a bustling city like Los Angeles, but a more relaxed vibe that some people may long to have back, before the days where taking selfies became the norm. It's almost like the townspeople know each other as good friends, as you hear their laughter from the hotel, and the guitar music they play at local bars. Bisbee is known as a town revived by hippies, so that's a big part of its charm. You can watch a comedy show, visit the historical museum, go on a ghost tour, or explore the mountains at the Queen Mine Tour- all within walking distance! I couldn't find much wrong about the hotel or Bisbee in general, except for one major thing...those darn streets! Specifically, I'm talking about the street you have to drive up to park by the hotel. If you plan to drive here, then get ready for some narrow pathways. I was always worried being in the car and another vehicle would be driving the opposite direction. Don't be fooled by those "two-way street" signs, those paths are NOT capable of having two cars on one road. When I left the hotel, I ran to the bottom of the street to make sure nobody would driving up to block our car. The difficulty driving to the hotel can be a hinderance, so I wouldn't recommend staying here if you have serious issues walking up & down hills or anxiety over fighting over a slim street. Otherwise, if you're looking for a break from this busy world of ours, then going to Bisbee and staying at the El Dorado Suites Hotel will ease your nerves and let you enjoy the simple things in life.
