The High Road's owners Tom and Helen are wonderful people and have become good friends over the years. Truthfully I think they would give us the shirts off their backs. Helen has thought of everything you might need to make your visit the most comfortable. There are extra blankets for the cool Bisbee nights and breakfast fixings for those beautiful Bisbee mornings. You can see forever from the wrap around windows all the way to Mexico not to mention the many varieties of birds and butterflies. We have made so many great memories here that it has gotten to the point if we can't stay at the High Road House, we don't come to Bisbee. It is a magical place and really that good! You will not regret your decision. Just be prepared to relax and breathe the clean cool air and don't forget your camera.

From the moment we walked in the door, we were delighted with the open and warm quality of the house. It seemed so spacious, light and airy. And it had everything we needed or would have liked. All it lacked was a lap pool in the back (joking!). There was a nicely equipped kitchen and even a washer and dryer. We loved the veranda and the small backyard where you could watch the birds and read a book. The stars at night were amazing and you could see them while lying in bed. Helen the owner was wonderful and greeted us on our arrival. She gave us many great tips about what to see and do. She provided breakfast items--eggs, milk, coffee, juice, muffins and bread---which were especially welcome the first morning after a long journey. The house was also set up with a TV and DVD and tape player as well as many DVD's and tapes. (Though we only watched TV for a few hours our whole stay). The Subys' book collection was wonderful. Histories of Bisbee, AZ travel guides, Eastern philosophy, novels and books I've never heard of. Great! I loved the choice of art work on the walls. And after checking out other guest places while we were there, we didn't find any that compared to the High Road House. We loved it and will return!!!

It's so quaint and artsy, and the stairs provide a built in mandatory workout. I feel like not only would I be a happier person, but I'd also be thinner. Word to the wise, if you are out of shape and do not want to broadcast that to the person you are sharing a bed with ... not going to happen. Now, the owner is incredibly sweet. He gets up and puts out bird feed every morning so that by the time you wake up birds will be all a flutter outside your windows. How amazing is that? Even if I never made it out of bed before 11. They also provide fresh bread, eggs, milk and a little OJ to get you started that first morning ... or to devour that first night after hitting up the local bars. Whatever. I only spent a weekend, but a longer stay would definitely be preferable. It's so relaxing and peaceful, 2 days is not enough. P.S. I wasn't kidding about living here. At first sight, we were all speechless at the beauty and aesthetics of the home. The grounds is very well kept with trees, foliage, and garden fountains. Lee, the property manager is such a delight. He gave us a tour of the home and showed us where all the amenities were like the wi-fi password, extra linens, coffee maker, and television. The inside of the home was stylishly decorated and comfortable. The view alone is something that was truly spectacular. The beds were very soft and we had a great night sleep in them. We highly recommend this home to anyone wishing to stay in Bisbee.

They were available if we needed anything and still very unobtrusive. We stopped at a vineyard along the way and arrived in late afternoon at the immaculate, charming Open Cross Ranch. The owners/hosts could not have been more gracious, and even the beautiful horses were friendly. The guest houses are charming and have authentic ranching antiques collected over years by the family. They include quilts made by the hostess and every amenity you would ever need in the kitchen. We stayed up late sitting around the fire pit wrapped in soft blankets, telling stories, and watching the stars. We came away refreshed and with beautiful pears we were invited to pick from trees gracing the property. I highly recommend this lovely place.

We were the only guest at the time and the quiet was wonderful. The space was clean; the bed was very comfortable; there was full bath and kitchen (fridge had trouble keeping things cold, never got above 45 degrees so take a good ice chest). The kitchen amenities were perfect for making breakfast and a couple of dinners during our 5 night stay. It was nice to have access to a TV but they do need to replace the swivel head which is broken and the TV is at a 45 degree downward angle. We propped it up with a roll of paper towels!! It worked. The outdoor space around the koi pond is so tranquil and pleasant that my husband and I hung out in our PJ and had coffee every morning. At night it was a great place to take in the stunning night skies. If you time it right you get ti watch Karen feed the giant koi Karen was very good at guiding us to the wineries and I can't thank her enough for recommending the Sonoita winery whose MeCaSah wine is truly an award winner. We also went the Vera Earl Beef which sell aged beef..so good. Also of note is the Copper Brothel Brewery where I had the best chicarrones ever and I don't want to leave out The Corner Scoop for the best breakfast burritos. All in all it was so enjoyable and hope to return.

The owners shared future plans and upcoming events that keep this location relevant, modern and yet maintains a little old west folklore'esk vibe. They will host family reunions, weddings and any other type of gathering you need. They are part of the local garden tour and will be having a Halloween Haunt coming up the end of October. We highly recommend this place for a one nighter or a long weekend or more. Great views of the night sky as well. We were able to see the Milky Way for the first time in years! My family loved it and hated to have to head back to reality in California Reasonable rates, pet friendly, free parking and close to local "lots to do's". Besides the natural beauty of the desert, the Posada with its adobe architecture and manicured gardens seemed like an oasis in the desert. We explored the grounds and enjoyed the birds. We saw some local wildlife, enjoyed a rain fall, took too many photos. The family has been here taking care of this little slice of Heaven for decades, they know so much about the local ecosystem, wildlife, and the orchard they care for. The apples are fantastic, the birds are plenty, and the whole place is just wonderful. Wether for a day hike, a weekend getaway, or just a stroll I 10/10 recommend visiting. I think the day hike is 5$ and the cabins range in price, ours was 2 bedroom, 1 bath, and a kitchenette with a cozy living room, and was 120$ a night. We obviously stayed another night because the deck of the cabin was literally in the trees. Please please please come support a local family and visit. You surely won't regret it.
