I was assigned a client here with my agency and was able to participate in some of the programs they offer. My first impression once I stepped inside is that they've absolutely invested a lot into the machinery they have here. The bigger equipment reminded me of the HBO show Westworld, and it's a fascinating sight to see. It was also a relief to find out that it is a non-profit organization that takes donations. They have many instructors, therapists, and employees to assist them. Mark, the director, and Orrin were very kind, as well as Deanna and Robert. There's a schedule that the clients follow depending on the day, and the cognitive classes were really insightful and inspiring. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to observe the improvement and rehabilitation of the students in recovery. The only downside was parking since it's sort of packed, and the train station is practically adjacent to the building. Since there was some construction going on, it was a bit difficult to navigate through, but it was my first time visiting such a facility, so it was eye-opening. read more

High Hopes for Brain Injury could be better if there was not so many closed days every month. I had to stop going to find a place that focus on thinking, writing and learning what I lost in my accident. Speech and computers are very important. But I was only able to go a couple of days a week and found out on some days they were closed. Places to help us are hard to find. read more

High Hopes is the first non-profit charitable organization in the country to serve the needs of brain injured individuals and their families. High Hopes provides a full service, day treatment program designed to obtain results. The High Hopes program uses a unique method of rehabilitation, which has been developed over many years. The goal of our program is to help each brain injured person, no matter the severity of their accident, gain back as much independence as possible. High Hopes has helped hundreds of brain injured adults recover abilities that were thought unattainable. We do not give up on anyone, but rather find solutions to help each person.

I found Orange County Rescue Mission and I love the support they provide for the community so I decided I wanted to give my donations to them. Orange County Rescue Mission is open Friday to Wednesday from 8am-5pm, Closed Thursdays. They have a convenient area for you to drive up, and their volunteers are super nice and will be more than happy to help you lift and unload your donations. Donation receipts available upon request.

Honestly if I had known exactly how simple this process would be & how friendly and nice the people…read morethere had be, I probably would have gone a LOT sooner. I've previously had my donations picked up, or gone to donation bins, or dropped a few things off at Goodwill. Orange County Rescue Mission has a drive thru drop-off for your donations. I had 5 boxes, so a lovely gentleman brought a bin on wheels over and helped me put my boxes inside. He asked if I would need a receipt for my taxes but I politely declined. I do believe the items I donated had good value but I don't have much experience with taxes and previous receipts I've gotten usually end up missing by tax season. Prior to donating my things, I was able to go on their website and see exactly what items they accept. This helped a LOT because there were actually a lot of items I wouldn't have even considered donating like unused toiletries. I would probably try to give them to a family member or a friend of perhaps end up just tossing it away. I'm really glad they provide a list of acceptable items for donating!! I hope other people who wish to donate items really do READ lists such as this one, so they are aware of what can be donated. I just remembered people from my past who would try to donate opened foods, & insisted they were still good because they were non-perishables. Some people just don't know you can't donate ANYTHING. I don't understand people who donate things that they wouldn't use, if the same or similar item were donated to them (in the same manner). Some behaviors are perplexing. Anyway!! I LOVE this place and I'm currently working on filling up another 3 boxes. I'll have to go buy some more boxes so I can start sorting through my storage unit as well!! I do have a few questions on some items and what condition they must be in to be accepted for donation. I'm pretty sure they had a number on the same page that I could call and ask, which I will be doing, just haven't gotten around to it yet! I'm really happy I found this place & recommend others to donate items & volunteer here if they have the time! (:

In "Mommy and Me," I had Ms. Lety, who welcomed me warmly everyday in her class. With her experience and education, she listened to and understood us new mom. Since her class was full, I took a class with Ms. Gaby instead. Unfortunately, it was unpleasant. I felt like she tried too hard to be liked and understand our perspective, but judged me harshly instead. Her vibe seemed off, like she was hiding her true self. I wouldn't recommend her class. Not to mention, other moms also felt the same way towards Ms. Gaby, that they also mention they dropped or stopped going to her class. I thought it was just me. However, Larissa's visits were helpful throughout my motherhood journey. I'm grateful for her hard work over the past two years. She's the best, and my daughter loves her.

They also have the most extended hours available for before and after school care to give working parents more time for pick up. Eventually my son will outgrow the need for after school supervision, but until then, I fully trust that he's in good hands.

The center hosts a food and diaper distribution program a couple times a month for the community in partnership with local non-profits like Second Harvest food bank and Community Action Partnership. I would like to share my experience with High Hopes in a respectful and honest manner. Unfortunately, the program did not meet the expectations that were presented. The facility could benefit from improved cleanliness and more consistent staffing to better support clients. During my time there as a caregiver, I felt there was a strong reliance on personal caregivers to carry out responsibilities that I expected would be handled by the program itself, especially given the cost of services. While the equipment available is a positive aspect, it often felt like the machines were the primary focus rather than overall patient care. I also had an interaction with the owner that came across as unprofessional, which was disappointing. Additionally, there were moments where the level of care raised concerns. For example, when a patient experienced a fall, it did not appear that appropriate on-site medical attention was provided. Although it was stated that a nurse is available, that was not reflected in that situation. It also seemed that the level of attentiveness varied depending on whether family members were present, which was concerning from a caregiver's perspective. Overall, while there may be some strengths, my experience did not reflect the level of care, professionalism, and consistency I was expecting. I hope these concerns are taken constructively and lead to improvements in the future. read more

High hopes has made all the difference in my sons care. Finding the right place is difficult for persons who have suffered from a head injury. It takes special people who have patience and an understanding for them. People who have suffered such trauma get misdiagnosed and physicians want to over Medicate them for there behaviors. The problem is that medicines don't work the same way for all people. Especially for persons who have suffered a traumatic brain injury, the medicines just don't work. At High Hopes your treated as an individual. Your care plan is scrutinized to meet your individual needs. Thanks to High Hopes and all the compassionate people that work there my son has hope and a place that allows him to feel safe and feel like he is getting better every day. I know for a fact there have been cases where a doctor told a client you will never walk again only to come to high hopes and prove the doctors wrong by learning to once again walk. read more

High Hopes is a nice place. However, be aware that they are closed on Fridays, each every holiday including the day after and sometimes a full week or two on major ones. Considering that each and every month has a at least one holiday... it adds up. They usually have training days (2) at least once a month. You WON'T be reimbursed or credited. They have four session each of which is supposed to be an hour. However, at least a half of this orientation is the director making jokes. You must listen or you will be "redirected" , I guess so you can get the punchline. Considering that most of the patients lack mental clarity, this is a completely unnecessary part of the day. I noticed that they are very involved with patients when guests arrive, but and insider said when no one is looking, there is very little interaction with patients if at all. Basically, the patients are being babysat..... there is nothing vigorous about this program at all. read more

A few years ago our son Jimmy was involved in a near fatal traffic accident which left him in a coma. We wanted to take him to high hopes, but we were not able to for reasons on our end. About 3 and a half years ago, my friend and academy classmate had a tumor removed from his brain. He went into a coma and when he awoke, he was not able to open his eyes, speak, or walk. He has been going to High Hopes for the better of 2 years. He is able to open his eyes, (with help from special glasses), he can speak and communicate and he can walk with assistance. I dedicate a day, once a week, to take him to therapy. High Hopes has done an amazing job. Thank you so much for bringing him back to his family and friends. Rob P. read more

High Hopes Head Injury Program is a very unique facility. As a non-profit organization, they are charging patients minimally compared to the other private TBI rehabilitation centers. They are equipped with state-of-the-art robotics to help patients re-learn how to walk again. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. This facility conveniently located right off the Freeway. It is very clean and all the equipments are well maintained. I am glad to have found a place that helps my grandma after her stroke. We are very happy with the experience and care that High Hopes Head Injury Program offers. read more

I took my kids here to volunteer and I am so happy I did that! My children had a chance to help the community. They really like helping people. This is an Amazing place!!! They are non profit so they don't charge tens of grants for brain-injured to attend. This is a great for individuals whom have suffered a head injury. They have equipment & robotics to help their patients walk or move their arms again. The staff is very patient & friendly read more
