I swung by House of Thunder just to browse cause I still needed to sell my bike and fully expected…read moreto get lowballed by a dealership. I was leaning toward the new Low Rider ST. I used to ride a 2016 Dyna and figured the ST would be the perfect next step. Enter Freddy. He greeted me right away and asked what I had my eye on. Sadly, they didn't have the ST color I wanted, so I was disappointed and figured it just wasn't meant to be. But then I saw the Road Glide. The first one I sat on didn't feel quite right and reminded me of why I didn't think I could ride that big of a bike. Then Freddy pointed to the Road Glide right next to it that had a slightly different setup, but not one I thought would make a difference. I sat on it and yeah, he was right. Freddy said cool, and went to see what they could offer for my current bike. I wasn't hopeful and even prepared myself for disappointment--and sure enough, the first number was low. I told him I'd wait to sell privately and come back. But Freddy wasn't done. He asked what I'd realistically want to make the deal happen... I walked around while waiting thinking yeah, they ain't gonna make it happen... but then he actually made it happen. When he came back with the number I asked for, I had that moment of "Oh no... this is real!" But he kept his word. He said he would take care of me--and he did. Sure, I could've maybe squeezed out a little more in a private sale, but the peace of mind in a Dyna-flooded market? Them taking it off my hands was worth it. Then it became a full team effort: Cisco (Parts Department): Patient as a saint while I went back and forth on accessories. He helped me decide on parts and we went through what was needed, what would look nice, what we both think are ugly. He continues to this day to update me on my parts and follow up--even when I changed my mind 12 times. John (Service Department): Walked me through warranties, explained what actually benefits riders vs. what they could sell me on, and has answered random questions I've thrown at him since. He's been super helpful and makes sure I don't do things that would void my warranty. Matthew (Clothing & Gear): While waiting around, I joked that if I bought a bike I deserved a free shirt. Without missing a beat--"I got you." They probably give shirts away to anyone spending thousands of dollars, but still, the vibes were great with this guy. Gil (Finance): Helped me sign my soul to the Harley-Davidson devil--but somehow made it feel like a reasonable and thoroughly explained life decision. Then, above and beyond: he offered to ride off together since I was solo and it was my first time on a Road Glide. That gesture eased every ounce of doubt. By the time I was cruising home, I literally said inside my helmet: "This is the best thing I've ever bought." And the mystery bell saver: The store had been closed for a good hour. I never caught his name, but while I was trying not to delay anyone and quickly grab my things from my old bike (with the help of Freddy and Gil), he came up to me and asked if I wanted the bell I'd left behind. I was struggling to remove it due to all the rust, and he said he'd grab it for me so I could get shown the technical stuff on my new bike. Those are the small moments that tell the real story of a shop. Everyone at House of Thunder is kind, outgoing, and treats you like family. Some would say, "That's just sales," but even after the papers were signed--and after me calling or dropping by--they've continued to be just as kind and helpful. Thank you, House of Thunder, for making this purchase a memorable one. I feel like I'll always have people at this Harley who will take care of me.
