Go in for a simple connector to be soldered to my ESC and come out with this mess. I just asked for the extension cable to have the ic3 cutoff and the rest soldered to the wires. Don't know why the person spent another $10 on useless connectors. Didn't notice this until I got home. Definitely will not be going back here. I only stopped at this hobby store for a minute or 2 i always like checking out the local hobby shops because they are usually few and far between. It was models and kits everywhere. The store was kind of cluttered But sometimes that's a good thing although seeming cluttered Could easily find all my go to rc goodies. This hobby shop leans more to scale crawlers and truck enthusiasts They also had a lot of lexan bodies ,paint, tools ,spare parts and everything you could pretty much look for in the hobby. There was probably 2 or 3 sales associates all with Customers every time I pass one they greeted me and asked if I needed any help they let me know they would be with me in a moment. A very friendly environment I felt welcome in this hobby shop Even though it was my 1st time there. Like I said before this hobby shop has pretty much everything you could ever look for they have models they have RC stuff they're heavy on the traxxas side but they also have a lot of parts for everything else if I live in the area this will be my go to hobby store if I'm in the area I will be stopping by. read more

I literally tried 5 times to go into this store and spend several hundred dollars, each and every time I left the store, aggravated and frustrated. The lack of customer service, piss poor employee attitude, and immediate clique like atmosphere where the "regulars" are consuming most of the prime counter space etc. Old guy trying to help, young guy too oblivious about salesmanship to even notice an "eager to buy" customer... I wanted to purchase a surface radio, vehicle, extra batteries etc. (I am a Heli guy looking to expand...) I've gone in looking to purchase a new EDF Jet... (Getting further along in expanding my hobby) I've gone in to spend several hundred dollars burning a hole in my pocket and tried my best, they have a wonderful inventory... NADA! Couldn't get a straight answer, they seemed to be bothered by my mere presence... Each and every time I was brushed off, ignored, or told conflicting information within seconds, and within earshot of the last guy that spoke to me... ALWAYS to be steered toward an online purchase... Literally hundreds of dollars... spent online instead of locally... Cool little store with a very knowledgeable staff. Great balance of giving enough/helpful advice while allowing you to learn. I originally bought a pair boats to have a little family weekend hobby. Now, I own several trucks and race with the local RC community at the track! Really appreciate these people and store. Got me pointed in the right direction and really enjoying this now full blown hobby! Highly recommend!!! Visited the store this afternoon and was immediately impressed walking in and meeting Graig Martin, one of the stores owners. I was looking for some odds and ends for my 60 year Vintage Nylint Guided Missile Carrier N2800 Traveloader restoration project. Graig took the time to answer my numerous questions and directed me to what he had available. Business done we started gabbing about RC's (High Fly Hobbies specializes in aircraft) and el Caminos when Graig's friend Mike showed up. When my 5yo daughter got excited about flying model airplanes, I got excited as well because it was something I did with my late father, 20 some years ago. Last week I picked up a few planes from his collection in KY but could not figure out what accessories went with what planes. After crashing the one I got to work, about a min after take off, I knew I needed expert help. My daughter and I set out on a quest to get a plane I could fly and prepare the other one for when my skills improve. We found exactly what we were looking for. I went in, explained my situation and they had all the answers. Request 1: An easy to fly plane that was not a lot of money (I planned on crashing it like the other one). They recommended a Champ, which after testing it out this evening, was an amazing recommendation. Super easy to fly and a lot of fun. Request 2: A battery for my uncrashed plane. They figured out what battery was supposed to be in it (discontinued a long time ago). So using a little knowledge and solder, they adapted a battery they had in stock to work with my plane and charger. Request 3: A battery for my RC car (something my daughter also showed interested in). Even though my car is 15+ years old, there had a battery for that as well. I was very please with my visit and expected to pay a little more by shopping local. When I got home, googling tips on how to not crash, I saw the Champ on amazon, for a few dollars MORE than I paid today. That made me even more pleased, I not only got to take advantage of their knowledge, but I spent less money than I would have on amazon. read more

Very nice store and got great service from the owners, Mike spent a lot of time helping my son and me pick out new RC cars since we are newbies and didn't really know what we were looking for. He didn't try to upsell and we are very happy with the Traxxas cars we purchased, we had a minor problem with one of the cars a week after we bought them and both of the guys checked thru everything found the problem and repaired it on the spot under warranty when we really should have gone thru Traxxas for help. Bought a DJI Phantom 3 battery from them, really could of bought it cheaper on Amazon but figured they were a local business and I would get to "shop local". They sold me a bad battery for $169 and then held the battery while sending me (the next time I was in town) to some warehouse in Port Orange to meet some woman named Elizabeth whom they gave me a telephone number for so she can exchange it. I tried more than 10 times to contact this phantom "elizabeth" and NEVER was able to talk to her. After they had my battery back for weeks and told me they would take care of it on exchange, they sent me a text from the phantom "elizabeth" line saying " Hi Allen, you are past our allowed return date set by DJI, you have 30 days for returning dead out of box to us, after that time you need to send to DJI. It is pretty easy go to DJI.com/support and download a return form, ship it to them and they will send a replacement, sorry this is out of my hands, batteries are marked with a date code and they know when I sold it." I called and left yet another message saying this time that this "texts" way of business communication isn't professional. I went to the store and told someone that finally retrieved my battery from somewhere in the back office that I would also tell all of my RC buddies at the flying field about the poor way they treated a local RC enthusiast "which I am in the process of doing". As I was pulling out, some man... Maybe the Phantom "elizabeth"? Came out and tried to explain away the sorry treatment I received and saying that he had no way to help. I will never buy anything again from this business and I also have the concensus of a few friends that also told me about mediocre verbal reviews of this hobby store. To sum this up.... Don't buy anything from them. You think the extra money you pay for their overpriced stuff will come with customer service and support. Went in there on my lunch break to quickly purchase a sub $100 drone for my a friends son. He is interested in buying a DJI and wanted to get a cheap one to practice on. I was talked into buying a $89 drone with an extra battery, he explained the flight time would be 8-9 min. Ok no problem. Finally opened it with him yesterday. The box looked previously opened since a few items were out of place, the batteries were already in the controller, the micro sd card was out of its holding slot and the instructions were crinkled. Honestly as long as it works I didn't really care they sold me a used one since its cheap and will probably get destroyed anyway. Charged both batteries according to the instructions. After two separate flight times of under a minute I realized both the batteries were shot as they would not charge after a SINGLE charge and two flights of a minute. I looked online realized the drone the sold me was a POS and had many complaints and most people recommended another route on top of the fact that every store had the device listed 20-30% cheaper. I cut my losses packed the thing up exactly as it had come (open) headed back to the store. I bought it a week ago opened it yesterday both batteries were not working after one use on top of the device being used. They literally gave me two new batteries and refused to even give me store credit. Yeah as pissed as I was my fault for trying to give business to a local shop. Get home and tried it again one of the engines blew... Never going there again. Obviously they don't care about their customers on top of their 30% markups. Steer clear. read more

I came in to get a very last minute Christmas gift and worked with Mike. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable and provided some very sound advice. He was very patient, even with a busy store, when I had to call my mother-in-law and put her on the phone to figure out what we wanted. In the end, we got a better product at a lower price than we found online. Plus, I am always glad to buy from a local store than an online retailer. So sorry to hear that other folks had a bad experience. I am sure glad I didn't read the reviews before I went because I had a great experience. I will definitely go back. read more
