A big, tall & bald headed guy that was at the front desk stated he has a smaller room since I was only one person. I asked to see the room and I could hear him make a groaning noise. When he came out of the office, he made we walk in front of him upstairs and to the room (even though I had no idea where it was). He opened the door and said "don't touch anything ". I walked in, looked at the room and placed my knee on the bed to check the firmness. He quickly stated, "I told you not to touch anything!" He also wanted to argue with me about politics stating "You voted for that big stupid idiot orange man?!" (President Donald Trump) and just kept talking even after I stated, I'm not going there with you." Very unprofessional and rude. I have attached a picture of the room that I was charged $86.58. Ps: woke up to NO hot water in the shower this morning!

It is a motel, no frills and all the basic necessities are provided. The people at the front desk are straightforward. The pool has a 3 to 6 feet depth. The area has no shade.

    Huge room.

This is a very good 2-Star+ motel. No, it's not the Hilton or even Holiday Inn Express, but it cost about half as much or less. Sure, the building is from the late '50's I think, but it is very well maintained, and the parking lot is lit up at night like the Berlin Wall was. The bed was comfortable, and everything was pretty darn clean. It's right on 29 Palms Highway, State 62. The park is across the street, and pretty much everything from Walmart to fast food to drug stores and gas stations are nearby. We specified a no-smoking, no-pets upstairs room, and that's exactly what we got. Nice views, by the way. Vijay, the resident manager (and perhaps owner) was quite helpful in suggesting a great restaurant for breakfast (The Crossroads), and our 2-day stay was without any problems or issues. I'd stay there again, which is all that really matters.

I'd really give this place zero stars if I could. Long story short, the office manager rang our room phone to yell and threatened to call the police on us a mere 10 mins after we checked in because someone accused us of banging on the walls and doors even though we had just arrived and were relaxing in silence under the AC. We went in person to the office to see what was up because it was very scary and uncomfortable, especially since it was just me and my friend (two young females) and he never apologized or anything. I broke out in hives an hour later. Heard weird noises near our bed during the night. Found a giant cockroach dying right outside our door. Checked out as fast as we could the next morning at the crack of dawn. Tried to get a refund from Expedia and the motel denied. Completely unacceptable.

The bright turquoise walls. The drab retro bedcovers & curtain...but hey, it's classic motel. Nothing a visit to Target can't fix.

So we joked that this place looked like it belonged in a Quentin Tarantino movie...and there were jokes about whether the Feds were gunna bust down the door during the night. BUT -- It's clean. The room is spacious and bathroom easily accommodates wheelchairs...toilet had a ribbon of paper to prove that housekeeping worked on it; it was across the top so you had to pull off...the towels are white and freshly laundered. I looked under the sheets at a corner of the bed seams, no creepy crawlies...no bedbug dirt. In fact the bed under the retro coverlet was well made and sheets tightly tucked. GOOD JOB housekeeping!!! The clerk/owner (?) at the desk was helpful about restaurant recommendations. He gave us a card with discounts on it...and inside the office, there are menus on the wall. We used a coupon for an Indian restaurant called SAM'S PIZZA, which was a nice surprise. And the next morning, they recommended another place CROSSROADS CAFE that had Vegan options. It wasn't on the coupon card tho, but hey, vegan options! There's a swimming pool, but we didn't use it. I had the room with a double bed...there was a flat-screen tv...there were four mints on the writing table...there was free wifi...the air conditioner worked and had a control that you could actually, well, control. I set it on COLD and on High upon leaving for dinner. When I returned, YES!, my room was a frig and that was just fine by me...it was 102 outside. HINT: You might have to turn the setting on the AC to OFF or to AUTO because it blows right across the head of the bed...and it's noisy...but I actually just slept with my back turned...so the blast of the cold doesn't hit you in the face. There's ample parking and you can monitor your car from your room window, if you are nervous because you have an expensive telescope in the trunk. The clients here are mostly budget conscious...young hikers and outdoorsy people...tourists...nice friendly people on vacation. OVERALL: Clean. Convenient to the Northwest gate of Joshua Tree...also convenient (within walkiing distance) to a mini mall where there is a liquor store and a pharmacy and SAM'S for Indian food or sandwiches. TWO DRAWBACKS: I could hear some early morning bedroom stunts, which shock the walls, while I couldn't hear voices or conversations (Whew!), my room wall was banging and vibrating...for about 15 minutes. Poor girl. I figured it was part of the charm of motels along a big highway, so five stars anyway!! Also the fluorescent lighting is pretty harsh...and it's all at the same intensity...but again, motel!

Located in the desert town of Joshua Tree.

High Desert Motel was a great place for me to stay before heading on my adventure through Joshua Tree National Park. It's a simple and clean motel situated right in the heart of the town of Joshua Tree. I found the whole area in general to be really calm and pleasant. It sort of help set the tone for Joshua Tree...being at the entrance to the heart of the desert! Prices here were very reasonable. I had a good nights rest and felt refreshed the next morning. Before leaving town, I quickly stopped at a local supermarket to grab plenty of water and food for my journey as there's none whatsoever inside the park. For anyone venturing out to Joshua Tree NP, I'd certainly recommend the High Desert Motel.

Super clean, budget friendly rooms. Let me say that again, super clean! I am usually pretty uptight about cleanliness in hotels, and this place was spotless. Did it have outstanding decor? No. But it was clean! Ok, on the the rest of the review. Price is great! There were no frills, but did have a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker in the room. The mattress was hard, but after a long day we didn't even care. Highway was noisy, but that is really unavoidable. If ever in Joshua Tree again and looking for an affordable place to station for a few days, I would stay here.

We only stayed for one night but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check-in instructions were sent via email and there's a code to unlock the room. The grounds are very pretty, perfect for a desert wedding or party. There are great views all around and there aren't any neighbors nearby. It looks like they own a lot of acreage nearby. The room we stayed in was the Onyx room. It was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. There are lots of nice additions in the room to ensure you enjoy staying in from wine glasses, a wine fridge, record player with a record collection, bath salts, star gazing area outside with a mattress, and comfy robes and slippers to use during your stay. If it were warmer, I definitely would've tried out the outdoor tub and shower but it was too cold at night to even think about it. There's also a large community pool in the works. As mentioned earlier, this hotel is about a mile from the NP so it's an excellent choice for anyone going there. It's also not too far from town so you're not too far from stores and cafes. I am definitely planning on staying here again!

Review for Hicksville Trailer Palace Rating:…read more Hicksville Trailer Palace is definitely an experience. It's a great spot if you're looking for something unique in the Joshua Tree area, but there are a few things you should know before you head out into the desert. The Arrival & Check-In Getting here can be a bit of a puzzle. If you follow your GPS to the provided address, it will likely take you to Foxy Flats Road. The HTP directions suggest a different route but aren't the clearest. Pro Tip: Drive past Foxy Flats until you hit the stop sign, then take a left on Boarder and another left on La Brisa. If you have a truck or SUV, don't bother going the extra mile. Foxy Flats is bumpy in places but not that bad. Once we arrived around 7:00 PM, the vibe was a little awkward. Check-in is technically 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM, but the innkeeper, Jessica, seemed a bit put out that we didn't arrive earlier. It wasn't the warmest welcome, which set a bit of a rough tone for the start of the trip. The Stay & Maintenance The property itself is showing some age. We ran into a few maintenance hiccups during our stay: Lighting: We had a blown bulb in the bathroom (Jessica did fix this quickly once reported). Plumbing: We had no hot water initially. When we finally figured out how it worked, we found that there were only 2 settings: scalding and freezing. At least it was better than having to use the communal shower and toilet that most guests have to share. Overall Condition: You can tell there's been a general decline in the upkeep of the property and some of the equipment. The Highlights (The "Fun" Factor) Despite the rough start, the "Palace" shines when it comes to activities. It's 21+ and dog-friendly, which makes for a very chill, adult-playground atmosphere. We had a blast exploring the quirky amenities: Activities: Archery, BB guns, shuffleboard, and mini-golf. Games: Ping pong, darts, and a ball pit. Relaxation: A pool, hot tub, fire pits, and a cute little library. Final Verdict Is it worth it? If you want a one-of-a-kind, kitschy desert experience, it's worth staying once. It's fun, quirky, and full of personality, but just go in with managed expectations regarding the service and the "wear and tear" of the grounds.

Mojave Sands was perfect for our stay. Only a few rooms on site, pretty secure to get in, easy to get to our room, and large enough to be comfortable for our little family. We were able to set up our Pack and Play in our room and then layout a play area in the living room by the kitchen. I really enjoyed our stay and what I mention next is not bad just tips that I would have liked to have known: We stayed in Suite 1 which was closest to the road and it was tough for baby to take his naps. The rooms have lots of windows but none of the shades fully block the window, again making it hard for him to take naps and, for adults, hard to sleep in when the sun is blistering through the windows at 7am haha (it doesn't matter we're up at 7 anyways), the kitchen was very small, I so wish it had a microwave or an oven. Lastly, the floors are concrete, which I'm sure is appreciated during the summer, but in the winter, even with the heaters on at almost 80 F, I was absolutely freezing when sleeping, i had to wear my slippers and a turtle neck to stop shivering. My husband was fine, but I'm a cold person and I wished I had an extra blanket. Location was great and close to the West entrance and super close to the visitor center and Road Runner cafe (side note, just go to Walmart a little further and get food for the park, Road Runner was expensive and the sandwiches were ok at best). Overall, loved our stay and so glad I booked it!

Everything went exactly as she'd said it would regarding receiving necessary gate codes, etc. We were not disappointed on arrival; this place is spectacularly special. Literally, a hidden oasis that has been thoughtfully, artistically created to provide a very unique zen experience. We loved the secluded, quiet vibe and it was so beautiful. We used the suite and one of the regular rooms. The suite was a two level masterpiece with plenty of seating, a small kitchen and carefully chosen art pieces that elevate the ambiance. It has picture windows that provide a dynamite view and you've got the option to draw blinds for privacy. The beds and linens were so comfortable that my Canadian friend said her husband got the best night sleep here; out of their entire trip to California. My room was perfect. Warm, so comfortable, and with a thoughtful artistic touch. The architectural details of modern, mixing hard and soft with an Asian zen/Americana 50' vibe. The icing on the cake was my golden retriever was also welcome. He thoroughly enjoyed having a safe, enclosed area to chill with his humans. For sure, the next trip to the 29 Palms side of Joshua Tree will include another stay here. Highly recommend here for a very unique, relaxed, pet friendly respite!

However, the Desert Lily's website does not reflect this change. When you look at all of the reviews on Yelp/Trip Advisor/Google, you will note that Carrie's level of service is amazing. That was one of our selling points when choosing this place. It was disappointing. The positive of this place is that the location and views are AMAZING. About 2 miles out of the JT park entrance. Couldn't be more convenient. HOWEVER, the beautiful views and location is ruined by the service (or lack thereof) by the new owners. There is no employee on site on a regular basis. No one. So, you need help with the wi-fi? Need more towels? Have a question? You have to call the number listed, and leave a message, and you will get a text from a bot a couple hours later which doesn't help you at all. You don't get to talk to a real person unless they decide to call you, which didn't happen most of the time I tried to reach out. The website states that all of the cabins have wi-fi. That's one of the reasons we picked this place; we all had work to do. However, the wi-fi doesn't reach out to the cabins. And, cell service is spotty on premises (there were three of us in our group--they had ATT & Sprint--no luck for them. I had Verizon, which worked). So, even if you want to IG some amazing pics or just get your email and you don't have Verizon, you have to go to the main house which sucks. Another reason we picked this place was that the cabin listed had a grill we could use. There are very little dining options in JT, so we thought we would eat most of our meals in. The grill has got to be 30 years old, and is unusable. So that was a major bummer too. The cabin we stayed in (Biltmore) was functional, but needs a little TLC. Not expecting perfection whatsoever; however, one of the drawer faces fell off when we tried to pull it out. There's no screens on the upstairs windows; bugs abound at night and it got really stuffy up there. The cabin is probably 30+ years old, and it just needs a little face lift. It's cute and funky. We met another traveler who hadn't been provided the information when she arrived on how to get into her room. She rambled around the place for a few hours before someone got back to her. So, our experience wasn't unusual. The main house has a sign that says "ring bell for service" but no one answers. They need to take that down because it sets up expectations. As I told the owner, if I wanted an AirBNB, I would have booked one. However, I was given the impression that I was staying at a BNB. This is not a BNB. It's serve yourself. And the website, to this day, still bills itself as a BNB. About me: late 40s, low key and not high maintenance. Travel a lot. I know what's reasonable to expect, and what's unreasonable. The new owners need to do a better job communicating to their guests that they are on their own.

He let us know that we are IN FACT able to park the car on the drive way close to the location so you don't have to carry your stuff to your spot.. designated parking in my opinion is actually very smart and very thoughtful because who wants to see a bunch of parked cars in such a nice view?! So I got the tiny home container.. and let me just say IT WAS THE BEST THING I HAD EVER DONE! I actually didn't know which one of the containers I booked but the one I got was the best one! Everything and I mean everything was included. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, AND ac!!!! The roof top? BEST FREAKING PART! Watching the sunset was amazing solo time. I guess my ONLY "thumbs down" would be the center pool. I personally liked it.. it's a shallow sit down cool down tub and it works for when you just want to dive and sun bathe. Other than that, I have nothing negative to say. I really enjoyed my stay. And if you're someone who doesn't go camping or even glamping, don't stay in a yurt? When it's hot it's HOT when it's cold it's COLD.. it's not rocket science. Choose wisely if you want to enjoy your stay and really unwind. Overall, I 150% will be back and stay here in case I need a moment to reset my brain.

It's hidden in the hills in a residential neighborhood and looked rather small from the outside. But as you enter, it opens up to a very nice, open pool and garden oasis. There aren't many rooms, as it is a more intimate type Resort. All of them are ground level and surround the main pool areas. I stayed in a suite which had a private patio with a stone tub so you can have your own personal mineral bath. The room was very clean, not a lot of amenities, but it did have a small kitchenette and a very cool record player complete with records to play. There are three mineral pools. One is smaller with jets and has a higher temperature than the other two. There's another bigger one that serves as a swimming pool with a lower temperature. And the third one is enclosed with a medium temperature. As you walk further through the garden and down some stone steps, you will reach a small spa that has various rooms for treatments. There is also a dry sauna, showers, and an infrared sauna on the outside. This one was my favorite because the glass doors face the garden. It was very Zen. The massage therapist were very good. Thank you to Landon and Andrew for that. I really appreciated the intimacy of the Resort and all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Mel was especially helpful and kind. I left the Resort feeling very relaxed and at peace. I will definitely return.

Needing a little getaway we decided to go to Palm Springs for a weekend. It's been awhile since…read moreI've been in the area. I found this cute little resort outside of the heart of Palm Springs. Why did I choose The Spring Resort? I LOVE the heat and I LOVE hot springs! The resort is not huge but has three mineral pools, a large open air pool, medium size dipping pool and smaller hot tub. All naturally hot and restoring. The rooms are peaceful without TVs but still have WiFi available. Robes and slippers are also in the rooms along with a mini fridge that was in the closet. The pools and towels are available 24/7. When we visited average outside temp was 110 degrees. We didn't lay out like lizards during the day and opted for cooler quiet late night relaxing pool time. We had the pools to ourselves and it was so peaceful! The medium size pool that was indoors was the perfect temp for me and I enjoyed it very much! They offer a light breakfast option of healthy cereals, oats, hard boiled eggs, toast with juice, tea, or coffee. The resort is very chill and peaceful. We noticed a bachelorette/birthday gathering during our stay. They were a bit loud, slightly obnoxious, but I guess that is what happens when you gather a group of girls for a spa day. The resort also offers day passes to enjoy the hot springs. We were surprised one morning to find guests outside our room already sprawled out on the chaise lounge chairs. We didn't mind since we were going to spend the day out exploring the downtown area. So claim your spots early! The staff is friendly and helpful. The office has items for sale to enhance your stay like mineral soaps, lotions, bath items, and swimwear just in case you forgot to pack them. They have parking right outside of the resort and street parking. The best part for us, they offer electric vehicle charging, a single spot, worked out perfectly for us! Score! 2025: 57

I have stayed in many vacation rentals in Colorado, Lake Arrowhead, San Diego, Barcelona and Madrid (just to name a few). But this Villa by far exceeds them all - I had the opportunity to stay twice - in Fall as well as Summer and I will certainly return. The Home: There are three bedrooms - each uniquely decorated with nice views. The home is air conditioned and very comfortable even in the hotter months. If you like to cook while on vacation, you will not be disappointed with the quality of the utensils and cookware in this kitchen. The knives are really nice and very sharp, there are utensils of every kind and the cookware is very extensive - not to mention a very nice collection of spices. If you love attention to detail, you will love this beautiful home and it's history. It is a space of eclectic beauty boasting gorgeous interiors, art work and a book collection like no other that allow for hours of reading enjoyment. There are so many beautiful details in this home, it would be impossible to name them all. The Property: The property itself is astounding. If you are looking for a true Joshua Tree experience of breath taking rock formation views, you need not even leave the property as there is plenty of day hiking just outside the doors of this amazing home. The property has a gorgeous completely gated pool as well as a spa and both are very secure. The peacefulness while laying by this pool is therapeutic. I have never experienced such tranquility watching hawks sore high above the rock formations set against crystal clear blue skies. Roaming the property is such a delight as there are acres of land and adventures to explore as you search for the hidden rock cave. Along the way you will find meticulously manicured landscaping of beautiful trees, native shrubs and elaborate rose gardens. It is very secluded and free from noises of the city which is especially nice if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the rat race. I can not say enough nice things about Villa dei Fiori including the owner Dale who is such a delight and has wonderful stories of the home and the lovely surroundings. The pride and love he has for his home is very evident in all the details. I have stayed in other properties in Joshua Tree. This by far exceeds them all. Once you stay once, this will be your hidden get away gem forever. Shout out to Dale the owner: Thank you for providing your lovely home for others to enjoy and your gracious hospitality.

Think Glamping not European Villa…read more With so many glowing reviews on VRBO, I was a bit slack jaw upon arriving at how very un-Villa or 'stunning' this house actually is - It is a shack placed in heaven. My 3 stars here are based on my expectations created by the owner's VRBO and Website description. If you suspect it's going to be worn around the edges like everything else in the desert, you will not be disappointed. I believed what I read. So here I am with an honest review and photos. This house sits on an amazing lot right up against the Butt Crack boulders that Joshua Tree is famous for. You will be met by Dale, the guy in the photos and a very nice and caring man if not a 'little' OCD. He will take you on a 45 minute tour of the house. He will ask which of your party will be the 'light monitor' and he's serious. He will ask who will be doing the dishes because 'it's best to have the same person put them away if they are the one that took them out' - but don't worry if you forget because every cabinet has a photograph of the placement for the well worn pots, silverware, dishes, etc all put away like a surgery tray and you are to keep it that way. The unattractive cramped kitchen is also the main entrance foyer pass through. Dale texted us during our stay about things he forgot to tell us during our orientation, like it's windy cover the jacuzzi, close the doors, watch the snakes. Super helpful of course.. Meanwhile, grumpy neighbor requires that you do not make noise on the west side of the house. Which is where the pool and caves are. So at 4pm Dale fretted over my 6 year old who was laughing while exploring the caves. "he's not listening to what I said" Inside, furniture is pushed in a row against the walls like a house party (or funeral). Oddly, there are only 2 lounge chairs located in the front yard a few feet from the quiet street. But no loungers near the pool nor the drop dead gorgeous rear yard. No hammock. No cushy sofa. Nothing for horizontal chilling out, although we grabbed a pad and laid on the awesome boulders like sunning lizards. Pool impossibly freezing. Jacuzzi great. The only bathroom is tiny and gloomy 'be careful what you flush or you will be charged if we have to call the plumber'. The sheets are older and soaked in fabric softener, there are no extra sets of sheets or blankets. No throws. Pillows are dead. If you like nice bedding, bring them. The scratchy, polyester floral coverlets smell like your old Aunt Martha in Florida. Dale needs to hit Home Goods big time. There are french doors but only 1 window in the entire house that opens (master), so at night when the critters come out or during the frequent winds, you are to 'be sure to close all the doors'. No fresh nighttime air to lull you. The house is in a bowl geographically so no view of the sunset, but climbing makes it worth it. Stay here for the yard, which is so amazing and wonderful you'll be tempted to ignore the house. But I had to write this poopyhead review so others can manage their expectations.
