We have been customers of Scrub a Dub for 40 years! We are Scrub a Dub believers, enthusiasts, and…read moreloyalists. The nuts and bolts of the Chelsea Scrub a Dub tunnel car wash are very good; the quality of the (tunnel) car wash is very good, HOWEVER: (1) The Chelsea car wash is a high volume car wash/operation for Scrub a Dub. Commensurate with high volume, comes income and profitability, which, in my opinion, commands high levels of Scrub a Dub "management's attention," on-going maintenance, and efficiency. The latter is lacking at Scrub a Dub's Chelsea car wash, and has been on a downhill slide for several years. For example, why pay a lot of money for a car wash, to exit the car wash to a "pond/lake," that, as soon as your car exits the car wash, trashes your clean car? See the attached pictures of the pond/lake, at the exit of the tunnel car wash. This condition has existed for 3 years. How could that be?; (2) Speaking of maintenance, and monitoring systems, how could it be that the lights behind the car wash feature signs in the tunnel wash, are constantly burned out, and one can't tell what add-on their car is receiving, or the add-on that one asked not to receive? This, is, again, another sign of Scrub a Dub Chelsea's failed maintenance and monitoring (an Absentee Landlord!); (2) The self-service car wash bays are in a constant state of disrepair. For example, the other night, as is often the case, I went to apply pre-wash or pre-clean/soak to my car, and all I got was a minute of compressed air, no solution. This is a regular event, not an unusual occurrence. How could this be? I wonder, does Scrub a Dub's management, cycle through the car wash as "their customer would/does" to live the dream of their customer? After 1 minute of lost time on the meter, I came to the conclusion that I was not going to get pre-wash or pre-clean/soak. Then, to make matters worse, when I moved the dial to the wash cycle, the machine dispensed no soap. This is a regular event. In my opinion a sign of failed maintenance program, and an Absentee Landlord. This by the way, was after pulling into two prior car wash bays that had equipment that was broken or disassembled; (3) The "car mat clips" remain, often inoperable, over-used, and worn out. They do not support even the skinniest of car mats, including the most popular brand of car mats, Weathertech. The "car mat clips" are old, long ago in need of replacement. Maintenance? quality assurance? it does not exist; (4) The gangs, blaring music, trespassers are an ongoing liability to the Chelsea Scrub a Dub car wash; the staff (including Scrub a Dub's "Security"), entirely disregard unacceptable behaviors (like car wash bays that are occupied by thugs who are not washing their cars, blaring music, alleged music that is nothing but shouted expletives, etc). In my opinion, the Scrub a Dub Chelsea car wash needs regular visits and oversight be Scrub a Dub's best and brightest leadership and owners.

As I got to the front of the line, the attendant who saw what happened immediately started shouting at me to go to the back of the line without listening to what I had to say or talking to the gentleman behind me. You pull up and pay for what level of cleaning you want if you don't already have a monthly membership. I like that they didn't push a membership onto us and helped us quickly pay for an upgraded wash ($10 vs the basic $7). Afterwards there is a small lot with plenty of vacuums you can pull into to use free of charge. Overall, we had a good experience but the vacuuming got backed up pretty fast.

Please note that around this time, there was only 2 open spots left for the vacuum. Even though there is a sign that states a 15 minute time limit, I don't think it is enforced. Shortly after we started to vacuum our car, we a few cars just waiting after their wash for a spot for the vacuum. But this was a Saturday afternoon, but wanted to let you know in case you plan on getting a car wash and wish to vacuum your car afterwards. This place met our need for the use of the vacuum.
