My husband and I like it chilly at night so 68° felt very warm. Luckily they had a box fan in the corner so that was very helpful. My other complaint is the soap and shampoo and condition felt cheap and didn't smell very goos. I wish a motel as cute as this one would upgrade to a nicer recognizable brand.

While I think Tru was intended for young travelers, I feel Tru suites me in my early 60s. I very much liked the complimentary breakfast better than what is served at a Hampton Inn. I liked the pancake machine over the waffle maker. The Lavazza coffee was a welcome feature too. The rooms are a bit smaller, but still comfortably fit a king-sized bed. There is a small refrigerator, but no microwave. Exposed rods, pipes, and pegs replaced dressers and armoires. The shower was full glass with TWO glass corner shelves, so for a change I didn't have to store my toiletries on the floor or bend over to pick up them up. If you need a microwave, there's one in the lobby at the snack counter. The rooms and lobby were CLEAN. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Sure, it's bare bones ( shared bathrooms and sometimes saggy mattresses) but the price is reasonable, its clean and big and a super comfortable place for our 60+ family members to hang out and reconnect. The lake is lovely and the dock and beach are the only things we need to entertain us on a warm summer day. The kids like the rowboats and trips to the store for candy. One recent big negative is that the lodge staff can no longer cook and serve meals. The Silver Dollar restaurant is a short walk away, but it's just not the same as being served breakfast (or dinner) on site.

Of course, it's not a five-star hotel, but keeping in mind that it's a motel, I'd say it easily compares to a 3.5-4 star property. Just be sure to set your expectations accordingly. I didn't notice an office or staff around during our stay, so if you need assistance, keep in mind that this is more of a self-service motel experience. That said, booking and check-in were incredibly easy--you can do everything right from your phone, and you can check-in on your phone once you arrive. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and updated the property was, and I would stay here again.

Very reasonably priced too. It's on the water and they keep it very clean. The whole staff had a smile on their face the entire time. On Friday, I had to wait about 10 minutes to be sat but the hostess promptly led me to the bar for a drink before and suggested I waited in the attached room with the pool table, which I did. It was perfect timing for me to have a pre dinner drink and a game of pool. I can't think of anything negative to write. There was a lot goose poop on the grass and sidewalk in the early morning when I took my dogs out; but by 8 am the groundskeeper cleaned it ALL up. I will definitely be back again.
