When in Montreal a few weeks ago, I had some time to kill my dinner reservation and just happened up on OASIS Immersion (when exploring Montreal's Underground City, I ended up in Palais des Congres, where OASIS is housed). I decided it seemed like a fun way to spend an hour or so before heading to my dinner. I'm glad I stopped by - the show I caught was definitely the best immersive art exhibit I've seen so far. I think they may offer different experiences on different days, but the show I caught was Nature Vive/Root for Nature. The Root for Nature immersive experience brings together several organizations committed to conservation and sustainable development, including the United Nations, the David Suzuki Foundation, the Workshops for biodiversity , the Age of Union Environmental Alliance, the Palais des congrès de Montréal, Tourisme Montréal, WSP and National Geographic. The Experience is produced and traveled by OASIS Immersive Studios in collaboration with National Geographic. The experience had some truly gorgeous nature and landscape photography (I especially loved the first and third galleries), and I found it inspiring and entertaining and well worth the cost of admission. Definitely a great activity for a bad weather day or if you have some time to kill when other things have/are closed!

Everything is so fun to look at and read and learn, the views at the top are also very nice with comfortable couches to just sit relax and enjoy. I loved reading about the history of the building as well as walking through the small garden area. What's also nice about this place is that there isn't many people so you can enjoy at a leisure pace and peacefully. This is an instant add to my list of recommendations for people visiting the city.

They're completely different attractions in separate locations, but in my limited memory bank, they sounded the same to me. The Biodome is basically an indoor zoo housed in the converted 1976 Olympic Velodrome, while the Biosphere is a climate change museum in a steel geodesic dome. It was originally designed by Buckminster Fuller as the US pavilion for Expo 67. The vintage appealed to us as well as other nearby sights, so Jamie W and I chose to visit the Biosphere on Île Sainte-Hélène, a separate island on the St Lawrence River. We had seen the distinctive structure from a distance in the Old Port, and it intrigued us as something built in 1967 to represent the future. The dated Jetsons-like architecture has been well maintained. There were two floors featuring interactive exhibitions and generic installations focused on climate change, sustainable development, and ecological action. They varied in their level of engagement. Gold star for both variety and playability. The out of the way upstairs location, great beer selection, and friendly proprietors make this feel like the neighborhood bar you always wished for. Very disappointing in their lack of care for attendees with accessibility concerns…read more We bought tickets for our first show at the Wiggle room and arrived before the doors opened because my wife had busted her ankle the day before and was on crutches for the first time in her life. I dropper her off at the door because she couldn't go far on the crutches. This was super stressful because there was nowhere to safely pull over and she had to get out on the street side and try to navigate the traffic on her crutches. After I helped her get to the door, I left her there while I went to park the van we were driving. It's an unusually large accessibility van. So I quickly discovered I was too tall for any parking garage and too big for any street parking. There was apparently also a large event going on and it was crazy trying to find parking. I spent over an hour trying to find a place to park and couldn't find a place anywhere. During this time my wife kept calling and was in tears because of the steep stairs in the building. She said people offered to carry her up the stairs but it scared her too much. She tried calling the listed phone number to get some advice but no one answered the phone or returned her voicemail. After more than an hour of trying to find a way to make it work we gave up because it was so stressful on both of us. We called and emailed and asked for a refund given the circumstances but they never bothered to even respond in any way. I understand their are limitations to what they can do for customers with accessibility needs, but at least showing that you have some empathy would leave customers not feeling totally ignored.

This was a must on our itinerary for our final day in Montreal. We did take a uber there but proudly walked back. This museum was massive with 5 floors of all different mediums of Art. It was an easy map to follow to show me what I must! See and others that I call a fast pass, no lingering allowed :) I didn't read about it in advance so was surprised to see some of my favorites included. I got to see a Rembrandt who I love but got tired of after teaching it to middle schoolers for 5 years. There was a lot of modern and abstract pieces that were magnificent you will see in the pictures. Sometimes museums can be confusing in the layout but this one was perfectly arranged in such a way that I loved that after 3 hours the bottoms of my feet hurt and then we made the journey back to our hotel. We had a wonderful time and had to go around twice to our favorite exhibits! I forget the exact price for entry but I was reasonable.
