The Montreal Insectarium is located in connection with the Montreal Botanical Gardens so one ticket will get you into both, but I would only recommend going in The Insectarium if you do not have a fear of bugs, because if you do - there are a LOT of bugs!) I don't love insects by any means, but it was pretty cool to read about each of them and see them in this setting and not crawling near me/in my house! They have lots of different insects to check out, including pretty butterflies in every pattern and size, stick bugs you can see blending into stick exhibits, and humungous tropical beetles that sent a shiver down my spine to know they exist, among many others. It's a pretty neat exhibit, especially if you're a bug lover. And it's included with your admission to the Montreal Botanical Garden (which I highly recommend!), so it's basically free if you do the gardens, so why not!

I recommend visiting when the gardens are open because you will have a more full experience with more to see. I find the insectarium to be a bit small and it doesn't have enough to do and see. Most of the bugs are in the dome like room pinned to boards, there isn't that many live insects to observe. The space is beautiful and the butterfly room is lovely to walk through but i just find it too short with 4 attractions only. A great spot to visit if you go on a nice day to walk through the gardens as well.

10/10. Went here with my folks who do not care for bugs, ended up loving them as mhch as I do. It was a very calming and emmersive experience, very educational, The staff were super friendly and enthusiastic about not just the museum, but insects in general. One of the people who talked to us went on about biophelia (iliciting positive reinforcement about the enviroment), how the museum was designed, the insects they hpused, excetera. Everything flowed very naturally, for the most part the building was accesible, lighting was great, it was amazing. One small criticism is that I wish the first section (focused on "getting into the mind of a bug) was a bit longer and fucosed on some more of the biological features of some bugs, like how they digest food, or the ecological roles of bugs (pollinators, detritovores, pest control, parisitism, excetera). I do also have a concern with the accesibility with the first sections room on how flies and other insects see on ceilings. Its a key part of the exibit, and there isnt any sort of alternative for people who are physically unable to do auch thing. Despite my criticisms, i do highy reccomend you come here. It was an amazing experience and I would go here again if I ever visit Montreal again.

I came here on a vacation this weekend only because it was rated so highly, not because this was something I would choose on my own. It does cost around $15USD and is not part of the botanical gardens. It took us about 45 minutes to do the whole thing which felt quick but the whole 45 minutes was interesting. Trust the reviews, it really cool here.

We enjoyed the insectarium a lot. The Insectarium has 4 attractions: The Alcoves, Tete-a-Tete, The Dome and the Great Vivarium. They are laid out in a consecutive path. You first enter the Alcoves which is a cool set of rooms and hallways that are built to give you the perspective of a bee's life inside their hive. After you enter Tete-a-Tete which is a room with 7 glass displays containing some interesting insects - you'll have to have a good eye to find some of them. Next comes the Dome which is a larger room with an impressive 36 displays of insects color coded like a rainbow. And finally you enter the live butterfly conservatory. A butterfly even landed on one of our hats and hung out for a minute or two. It took us 35 minutes to leisurely enjoy the Insectarium. The Insectarium is next to the Jardin Botanique. It is a separate ticket unless you buy the passport for all 5 "museums" (Jardin Botanique, Insectarium, Biosphere, Biodome and Planetarium). If you entered through the Botanical Garden, to enter the Insectarium, you need to exit the Garden (and show your tickets to re-enter). Then walk down to the building. Inside you can purchase tickets or scan your online purchased tickets. Admission costs C$22.75 adult, C$20.50 senior 65+, C$16.50 student 18+ with card, C$11.50 children 5 to 17y, C$62.75.25 family 2 adults 2-3 children. Children under 4y are free but you'll need to get a ticket for them. When we purchased our tickets for the Botanical Garden, we also tried to buy tickets for the insectarium (same pricing as Jardin) but the sales rep indicated they were sold out and recommended that we head over to the Insectarium ticket booth to check. It was odd because upon hearing this we went online via cell phone and purchased 4 tickets for entrance half an hour later.

Nice spot for a date. Cool that there's a few different sections. Pretty decent experience for the price.

The insectarium was SO cool. We didn't read up too much on what was housed here before going so every room was a wonderful surprise. The collections here are extensive and beautifully arranged, and the butterfly room was incredible. We found ourselves smiling and taking a million pictures. Such a wonderful experience for young and old alike. Staff were friendly and helpful and happy to talk to you about insects :)

Thankfully my friends and I were savvy and got into the garden for free on a Free Day, thus our admission to this insectarium was also free. As a Biology major, I really like going to these kinds of places and am thus thankful that my friends were willing to entertain my little geeky nerd heart. There were beautifully mounted specimens as well as captivating live specimens, allowing this place to double as both an insect museum and an insect zoo. I'd say the collection was wonderfully extensive. When we visited, the place was full of kids and their families, so it definitely smelled like little kids. Not surprised since this place is definitely catered towards younger children. I'm not sure if we could really help the smell, but it's something to consider. It's definitely a nice educational place to take your little ones.

Came here with a group of friends during the lantern festival that they put out every year at the botanical gardens as it was included in our tickets. Lots of really cool information that's sure to interest all kinds of people. They have a lot of live species in terrarium that catch the eye, that is if there not blending in with their natural environment ! Plenty of cool facts to read and lots of opportunities to take pictures. The layout of the place is a little confusing and I wish there were some arrows to point a suggest pattern or place to start and make sure you see everything. Other then that is a great little field trip to go on and the price is pretty decent

Oscar from Sesame Street would love it here. Everything is GREEN! Your admission to the Insectarium is included with your admission to the Botanical Gardens... or visa versa. It is a very educational venue that is good for the entire family. There are a number of interactive exhibits. It's the perfect place to visit and spend an hour or more on a rainy day too.

Little spot within the Botanical Gardens that has some specimens as well as live displays. There was a "meet the insect" demonstration and the kids were able to touch the stick insect. Takes about 20-30 minutes to complete the entire place.

It's hard to review this as it is mostly geared for kids. Since I am not a kid and not currently have kids that I know of, it was a tad boring. All the kids there really seemed to enjoy themselves so if you are a family, you should go see it. If you don't have kids, them not really bother.

No staff on the floor. One to gain admission, and another to check out tickets further down. Both interactions with staff were to the point, and they were able to communicate in English. When we did get our tickets scanned for entry, we asked the attendant about food options on site (which was only a coffee shop, on the main floor).
