Well, considering my penchant for street art, I can't believe I haven't reviewed Mural yet.
Location: There's no exact location, since the murals are scattered up and down the main. That said, if you're walking up St. Laurent, you're going to see a good chunk of them. Tip: Pick up a map from Station 16 (any time) or from one of the volunteers (during the festival).
The deal: Mural Festival has been running on an annual basis since 2013. Every June, I get excited about the line-up of artists that are going to grace Montreal's walls. As a street art photographer (OK, amateur but whatever), there is nothing I like better then to see large scale murals adorning our city's walls. Up until last year, the festival ran for one week. Now, it runs for a full ten days, with international artists like INTI, Pixel Pancho, ROA, Seth and Rone, as well as local artists like A-Shop, Benny Wilding, Astro and Earthcrusher. I'd say the walls are fairly evenly split between the international and local artists, with perhaps a few more international walls. As I mentioned, walking up St. Laurent, you'll get an eyeful - but the art doesn't stop here. You really need to explore the surrounding area (get the map if you're not familiar with the city!) because you'll find murals on other streets. In addition, you can also find spur of the moment pieces left by some of the artists, and those locations won't be on the map - you need to go look for them! There's usually a lot going on during the festival, so check out their web site for events and happenings.
Price point: The festival is free but some events may charge.
Miscellaneous: This year's (2016) is CRAZY awesome, with some of my favorite artists coming to town - you better check it! If not, well, I post everything on my IG so you can follow along ;-D read more
