Ribfest caters to everybody, parents and kids can be happy with the food, and entertainment. Besides many, many delicious ribs, the participants offer variety of grilled meats, there are also poutine, churros and food trucks that bring diversity. I personally think the bar should offer a little bit more beer options, yet beer is just a supplement to your delicious ribs, and Oh! delicious they are. There are a lot of tables where you can sit and consume your ribs and fortunately many stations with paper towel rolls as eating ribs is a messy business. The event is very busy, even on the launch date it was pretty crowded. The line ups in front of the ribs stands on my second Sunday visit were pretty long, yet not unbearable. Conclusion: great way to end up the week with a great food in the company of friends or family!

IT SURE GETS BUSY!!! Solution is to show up super early so you can get this amazing food with as little wait as possible. This year it was hosted in the Old Port, so the line-ups looked PAINFUL. Other than that, this event is awesome. I love trying out BBQ from new places but I always go back to BILLY BONES BBQ, their ribs are TOP OF THE LINE and add that with some of their cornbread and that meal MADE MY WEEK.

This was a must on our itinerary for our final day in Montreal. We did take a uber there but proudly walked back. This museum was massive with 5 floors of all different mediums of Art. It was an easy map to follow to show me what I must! See and others that I call a fast pass, no lingering allowed :) I didn't read about it in advance so was surprised to see some of my favorites included. I got to see a Rembrandt who I love but got tired of after teaching it to middle schoolers for 5 years. There was a lot of modern and abstract pieces that were magnificent you will see in the pictures. Sometimes museums can be confusing in the layout but this one was perfectly arranged in such a way that I loved that after 3 hours the bottoms of my feet hurt and then we made the journey back to our hotel. We had a wonderful time and had to go around twice to our favorite exhibits! I forget the exact price for entry but I was reasonable.

Location: On the quays of the Old Port - if you walk down toward the water from Place…read moreJacques-Cartier, it'll be right in front of you. The closest subway is Champ-de-Mars. Event: This was a special event called Chef à L'Érable - an urban version of the traditional cabane à sucre that I used to go to when I was a kid. It was complete with antlers, snow shoes, maple syrup (of course) and electronic style 'rigodons'. Very cool. The guest chef for this even that takes place until mid-April, is the well-known Laurent Godbout, owner of L'Épicier. Service: Pretty darn good. My booking was super easy - I emailed them and Thomas called me back less than an hour later. He was super friendly and the process went smoothly (save for a few technical issues that we laughed about later). When I arrived tonight, he knew exactly who I was and treated me like an old friend. The rest of the staff were friendly as well, and kept our plates and water glasses full. Food: Everything was delicious. From the pea soup to the gourmet tourtière to the maple bacon s'mores. My only negative comment is that some of the items weren't very hot. As well, certain dishes were served to the table as a whole, which made things a little awkward since we didn't know the two ladies who were sat with us. As well, the portions weren't incredibly huge when you considered they were being shared between four people. That said, I enjoyed every dish - even the boudin noir and the pork - I'm not a meat eater AT ALL, so that should tell you something! Do not be afraid of the blood sausage! Cost: I hate to say it but this was over-priced. The cost was $60 per person and included taxes and service (so that comes out to about $78 per person). At this price, I certainly feel that the dishes should have been prepared for people who came together rather than in a communal fashion. I get the sugar shack concept -this was an annual tradition in my family - but the reality is that nowadays, people aren't half as friendly as they used to be way back when, which seems to defeat the idea of sharing a communal meal. What I will say though, is that I left thoroughly stuffed. I don't think I'll eat for a week! Note: For this event, you need to pay in full at the time of your reservation.

My boyfriend and I went there for the Chef à l'Érable (an urban sugar shack). The food was not…read moreparticularly bad but it was definitely not worth ~$85 cad per person. All the dishes were pretty common and there's nothing special about the tastes. I understand it's a sugar shack, so the idea is to share food with friends or family. But this was called "an urban sugar shack". At least it should be explicitly mentioned on the website that you will be sharing each dish with strangers if you come as a couple or with a small group! We sat uncomfortably at a small table and had to share each dish with other 3 strangers. The entire dinner ended up like "excuse me, do you need more potatoes? Can I have the last piece of the ribs?" We were constantly worried about how to share the food evenly and not to appear to be too greedy. The people at the table next to us were also pretty upset and complained about not having enough food for them to share. What made it worse was the extremely long waiting time during courses. The dinner started at 7 pm and the dessert was "served" AFTER 10 pm! The servers were unprofessional. You can hear them dropping spoons/plates during the awkward waiting time for the next dish. The coffee/tea and dessert were not served at the table, which is shocking considering the price of this dinner. They made the "dessert serving" as a show by putting them on a long table at the center of the venue. Here's the thing- we have around 250 people there. How is it possible for everyone to get some dessert without pushing each other? It might not have been that much of an issue if they had taken out more when the dessert was running out, but that wasn't the case! I stood up 10-15 mins after the end of the "dessert show", and got only scattered blueberries and one or two puffs. The entire night was extremely unpleasant.
