If you come early enough to get a good parking spot (I arrived an hour early) don't get a spot right at the edge of the market. You'll be closer to the stalls with good stuff if you go further in to find a parking spot. 3. If you show up an hour early for your parking spot. You'll be twiddling your thumbs for a while because about half of the stalls won't open until a solid hour after the OFFICIAL start time of the flea market. 4. This flea market is ENORMOUS. It practically encompasses the entire town of Packwood. Be prepared to walk a lot if you want to see everything. We started on the outside which consisted of nothing but severely used "goods". I don't suggest it unless you are looking for props for a play or something along those lines. Gag gifts maybe? Not sure. Once we got to the middle though, there were some decent tents and tables. I was shocked at the lack of homemade goods. To every five or six used goods tents/tables there was like one tent with new items or homemade goods. I don't think we'll go back. It was a lot of walking with not a lot of reward. Oh! And bring TP or baby wipes. They only have port-o-potties and we didn't find one all day that had TP in it.

It's basically the perfect highway break: grab some food from the market, stretch your legs, wander around for a bit, and inevitably find something you didn't know you needed before getting back on the road. The building itself is huge and has THREE stories, the first floor is the market, while the top two floors are packed with antiques and collectibles. And when I say there's a LOT to look at, I mean it. There were so many different booths and collections, from vintage toys and Disney goodies to western pieces, furniture, records, books, home decor, random nostalgic treasures, and plenty of things I had to stop and look at twice. I especially loved seeing all the little vintage and nostalgic finds tucked throughout the different booths! Some of the prices were definitely a little questionable for what they were, but honestly, we still had such a lovely time wandering around and taking everything in. Even if you don't buy anything, it's a really fun place to explore and break up a long drive. Definitely adding this to the "stop again if we're ever passing through" list. Such a charming, unexpected roadside find!

That being said it has an old age charm about it. I bought some apple butter which was delicious: not too sweet and pretty tasty. The chai latte was reasonably priced and the very berry ice cream was creamy, plentiful and very reasonably priced. The antique section upstairs resembles more like a thrift store and some of the prices were pretty outrageous. However there were some old LP records and antiques and if you are in the lookout for a specific one of a kind piece and have time to browse, I think this may appeal to you. All in all it is worth stopping by for a quick stop if it's already on your way.

My son and I stopped for coffee, not realizing what a "find" the antique store is. Believe me, at my age (mid-seventies) I've been in hundreds of antique stores, most of which border on being 2nd-hand shops or glorified flea-markets. Not so, Antique Mall in Cashmere! This is the best cross-section of Americana I've ever seen. It claims to be 15,000 square feet of antiques and it is every bit of that and more! Here's what they've done right: 1) There's no flea-market junk. Everything displayed qualifies as a keep-sake. 2) Each item is displayed with respect on it's own foot-print of space, not crowded against or stacked on top of another. 3) Prices are clearly marked and designated as "each", or "per set", or the number of pieces. 4) Most items are clean and well lighted--appear showcase ready! 5) Multiple rooms or nooks are theme-related, so if you're interested in tools, or magazines, or German mugs, or fishing gear, or tableware, or vintage signage--there's a section for you! 6) Several salespeople are readily available to help you find what you're interested in. 7) The coffee shop on site, and spacious restrooms can make this store a whole day event. There really is that much to see. If you live on the coast and are "into" antique hunting, the 2-1/2 hour drive from Seattle is worth the trip just to see this store. I'm going to come back for a few items I'm interested in having, and I'm not telling you what they are !
