We were in a cabin 28 which is the the lower part of the campground so heard nothing overnight unlike our friends who were in a yome right next to highway. Garbage dumpsters and restroom/showers as well as the kitchen facilities are located throughout the campground which was convenient.

My Wife and I just spent 6 days chillin in some awesome summer weather. It rained one time during the middle of the night and not for long. It wasn't too windy and the water was amazing. BEWARE Always wear foot protection. I found several rusty fish hooks, broken glass and rusty metal near the shore. I've also made a pledge to stop using Lead Fishing Weights. In that, I've started collecting lead from the waters I fish. This weeks haul was about 12 ounces of lead from the waters edge. Timothy Lake has an amazing bounty. I will do my part in keeping it clean. I caught a fare amount of crayfish. We cooked them up and most everyone ate some. Our two littles (8 & 10) both ate crawfish. I was going to fish but had to much fun hanging out with my family to leave them behind. That's been the reason a lot this year. I'm always glad to come home and shower but I can't wait to go back camping. In fact. We're going back in two weeks. Nice.

Depending on your needs, Raab might hit the spot. Ten things about camping at Raab, in no particular order: 1. Don't know from where the name came, and don't know how to pronounce it. Also uncertain about the broccoli by the same name. 2. It's on a bend of the Callowash River. Bring your floaties and river shoes. You may end up walking through or around other people's campsites to get to the water, but they'll understand. If you explore, you can find several private spots, too. 3. The sites are divided into loops, and you rent a whole loop, not individual sites. Depending on your loop, your tent sites might be somewhat small and far apart, divided by lots of old-growth trees and wild rhodies. If you want a big group space with a nice gathering area, pick site E. It would be great for a group of 30 or more. 4. There's one can for each side of the campground. It's fairly clean and decently maintained for a vault toilet, but you'll occasionally experience a small line. 5. I found four geodes! Four! On the ground! 6. It's close to Bagby Hot Springs. Only like 10 miles away, and on the same stretch of road. If you get up early, you might be able to beat the crowds. 7. There are otters! They make really cute squeaky noises. 8. The nearest store is the Ripplebrook Ranger Station. They cannot run a credit card when someone is talking on the phone. They have ice and firewood, but sometimes run out of both. 9. There's no cell service. If you take walkie-talkies, be sure to charge them before you leave. 10. There is a sweet outdoor space with a table at the back of the first floor, and a rooftop. Every morning, wonderful coffee was available for guests, and there was a gym and sauna in the basement. There is also a pretty great happy hour every day starting at 3 that includes both food and drinks, and the general decor and vibe is super cool and super clean. On my first night, I was in a single queen room with a shared bathroom, and that was ok, except for the fact that someone wandered in who was not staying at KEX and tucked into a couch located outside of my room in the hallway for the night. The staff was super helpful and moved me the next night to a room with its own bathroom, but the overall experience that night was a drag. Would I stay at KEX Portland in the future? yes! Would I recommend others to KEX Portland? yes! Oh, and one more thing...there is a Crema out the door and across the street to the left, where you can grab something for breakfast.

I arrived late, but proprietors Stephanie and Eric welcomed me into the coolest house I have seen in I-don't-know-how-long. All of the things I hope and imagine a bed and breakfast to offer - warmth, fireplace, coziness, quiet, fireplace - surrounded and soothed me. One morning, I asked for my usual breakfast, and Eric said that he thought he had a compote that I would like even better, but if I didn't like it, he'd gladly whip up the usual (note to self: must obtain dictionary with the word "compote"). So I was gently being pushed to explore boundaries, as the therapists say. And it was better than the breakfast I had wanted! Every detail has been labored over, and the result is a temple of replenishment. If you want to learn how to be the perfect host, learn at the feet of the masters here at the Doublegate Inn. Their rates are really reasonable, too, for some odd reason.

I was a little sick from my throat and the lady offered me to help myself to some tea downstairs even after the usual hours of breakfast. There's little cute notes around the house with directions on how to use the door lock, the coffee maker, everything. I had the "Sherahazad" room it was so cute! With black out curtains all around even in the bathroom. It was a white old style bathtub by a small window where I could see the green trees but was still very private. The body wash, shampoo and conditioner weren't the usual low quality hotel kind. I didn't even use my conditioner I brought from home I guess I'll save it for tomorrow when we leave to Seattle since we're staying at a regular hotel I know it's gonna suck as always, but this one was great! My son sat in the reading nook after breakfast to enjoy the rainy views. Breakfast was also very generous. We had toast, oatmeal, peanut butter jelly and hard boiled eggs. Coffee which is good coffee as well and my son had OJ. We will definitely make this our permanent weekend stay place every time we come (as long as there's rooms available) hopefully we were good guests so they let us stay every time! Haha I almost forgot to mention every room as a different theme!! Omg I got the chance to take a peak at the "woodland" and the "Aegean" when I was passing by they were getting them ready and they were gorgeous! The public "living room" is cluttered with books, maps, etc.spread around, and not a place you'd sit to relax, and certainly not a place to meet other guests. The one good thing is its location, within 10-15 minutes of great restaurants, hiking, etc. Ellen, the owner, checked us in and we never saw her again during our 4-day stay. One time when we came in and she was around, she walked into the other room without even asking us how we were doing. Again, NOT a real Bed & Breakfast. However, at $120/nt. it was priced like a room. Good value so long as you understand what you are getting.

We arrived to a big open area for the "tent-only" spots where there were no trees or anything dividing the 3 spots from one another. Spots #5,4,and 3 are less than acceptable. Meanwhile, the entire rest of the campground was descent. So, If you are a tent camper and want a little privacy don't rent any of these 3 spots, but instead get a trailer spot so you can have some privacy where your neighboring campers cant see everything you have and watch you eat dinner and build a fire! We may return for the beautiful view and a cold river swim, but have learned our lesson. $17/night was a total ripoff.

There is another room on the 3rd floor. St. John Suite is very spacious with 2 balconies, 2 closets, double vanities, one large walk in shower with 2 shower heads on opposite ends. The common area on the first floor is very charming (mostly). Kinda made me feel like I was in a movie, the floor/stairs creak, the decor can make you feel creeped out. There's on site parking which was wonderful but the entrance can be easily missed in the dark. There are "linen closets" in the hallways if you need more towels and toiletries. There is a washer dryer in the basement which was convenient.
