There weren't any fish in March, but it must be pretty cool to watch the fish underwater during busier seasons. The Wetlands Trail takes you along a wooden boardwalk to literally go through a wetland area. Most of these trails are stroller/wheelchair friendly, but there are some parts that are on dirt and gravel, which may be a little trickier. There are also a lot of picnic tables along the Streamwatch trail, which would be perfect in warmer weather.

The Streamwatch trail winds you through picnic areas, along the river, and by the underwater viewing area. We drove around past other trails and over to the family meadow and picnic area. Plenty of parking and the restrooms that were open were clean. There were a few structures and trail aspects that needed some tending to, but overall it's a lovely recreation area...peaceful now but probably loads of fun for families in the springtime!

Hood Kiwanis Camp for three summers while in high school and between…read morehigh school and college more years ago than I care to admit, and it remains one of the most profound influences on my life of all. I haven't been back or visited camp for years, but the memories are still vivid. We did all sorts of activities with our campers with varying disabilities, even taking trips up to Timberline Lodge, and of course did all the crafts, archery, swimming, and other traditional things that any child participates in at camp. My campers taught me a lot more than I probably ever taught them, and we had a great time doing it, with lots of laughter. I remember many of them very fondly. At the time I was a counselor, the camp had a trout pond stocked by the forest service, and I became a crack fish cleaner and packer. I also learned what must have been dozens of campfire songs, and somehow have remembered many of those to this day. I'm thrilled to see Kiwanis Camp still surviving and thriving. My best wishes to them as they continue forward with a wonderful tradition of service and fun.

They made sure to pick out the right horse for her and for a beginner she actually took control the horse and did not let it take control of her. My boyfriend said this was the one thing of all the activities he really wanted to do so we signed up. The emailed information was really detailed on where to meet, down to the need to use Google maps vs Apple maps, which was helpful. Megan was our guide/trainer and arrived on time. She spent a lot of time explaining and showing us all of the gear to start - including us holding the gear and practicing opening/closing/using it. Then it was on to the practice tree for her to show us how to get up and down. Then we did it. Once she felt comfortable that we were "okay" (and by ok I guess I mean safe, not necessarily in good shape to climb LOL). We headed over to the old growth tree and learned a little about trees, which was really informational and I'm glad she took the time to educate us. The tree was enormous! Megan then took down all the ropes from the trees and we got to climbing. We got no where near the top when we had to call it quits but it was the adventure of a lifetime for sure and Megan was fab in explaining and being patient with us!

My daughter and all her friends had a fantastic and really fun time painting their unicorns. The girls had approximately 2 hours to paint, and it felt like the perfect amount of time for what was needed. Additionally, for all that the girls got to do and for this unique birthday party experience, the overall price was very reasonable. BULLYING AND ASSAULT AT CAMP…read more 1 star for activities and food Edit- after a review by the YMCA director in response to my complaint and this review below, they found that "no paperwork existed for this incident" which is very strange. Since then we have connected with the family of the boy who stepped in to help my son and they confirmed this incident. I am shocked that paperwork disappeared but frankly, not surprised... Is this really who you'd trust your child to? And it is pretty expensive as far as camps go... My 10 year-old son attended this camp and, on the way home, told us about his week. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to hear that he was repeatedly bullied by his cabin mates but also his counselor, "Nebula", who seemed to have it out for him. She refused to sign his memento on the last day, told him he couldn't participate in the talent show, berated him at mealtimes, and found fault in everything he did. My kid isn't perfect, but he's friendly, smart, empathetic, and makes friends easily. To make matters worse , he was also physically assaulted by another camper, punched in the face, and bitten in the leg. Another camper intervened (we have confirmation of events from this camper and his family!) and also got punched (This has now been verified by 3 campers!). The kid who assaulted them both didn't get sent home and no one contacted us to let us know of this but eventually, the counselor did intervene, apparently, so there is a record of this at the camp. I'm so frustrated that this was his first camp experience and immediately contacted the camp director, who is addressing this, but I feel that others should be warned. My son says the camp activities were great, but the people were just awful. This is a shocking review from a super positive child, and I feel bad that he spent a week in this toxic environment. If you are thinking you might want to send your child to YMCA Camp Collins, I'd seriously reconsider.
