This camp is a place where your kid is seen for the incredible human being that she (he) is. I…read morecannot believe the change in our kid--her self-confidence is 100x what it was when she went in. Kids come from all over the world to have this experience, but not once do you get an elitist vibe. This is an aside, but a notable one: the food. 'Chef T' is apparently the regional guru of camp chefs. Not only are they certified nut-free, but they accommodate a huge range of dietary needs. And it's all delicious. At visiting day we had savory grilled chicken over cauliflower rice with watermelon gazpacho and homemade corn bread. Vegetarians got a grilled veggie stack that included grilled eggplant, peppers, etc. The grounds are meticulous, super secure, and so peaceful. This is a happy place--I wish I could be a camper!

I never truly felt a part of a community, until Camp Wingate*Kirkland. School is a place of boxes. Everybody fits into one; artist, athlete, gamer, math nerd, weirdo... At Camp W*K, there are no boxes. We choose new activities everyday. You can be an artist who suddenly falls in love with tennis. A camper on the soccer field can be best friends with a camper in the library. You can do, try, be whatever you want to. No one will judge. No one will comment. The connections I've made there I will never lose. Camp W*K taught me that I am not in a box, I am not worthless, I can make deep connections, and I can be the person I mean to be.

She really enjoyed the counselors and as a parent I loved hearing her make an offhand comment that they were extremely safety conscious. Another observation she made about the counselors was that it always felt like they really wanted to get to know you. The activities themselves were fantastic. Everything was an activity you could do, but on steroids and with a group of kids/counselors all having a great time. Kayaking, mountain bike riding through great trails, the ropes course (definitely a favorite), swimming at South Beach and a Camp Olympics day with lots of fun games. I can't say enough good things about the camp. The camper/counselor ratio was great, the activities were well planned, the kids all seemed to enjoy it and several kids were about to start a second/third week. We will definitely do it again!

She was thrilled with her choice of Adventure Camp. Ropes Course day was her favorite, but she enjoyed the games and activities each of the 5 days. Counselors were energetic, engaging and well organized, reaching out via email and/or text about any changes and responding promptly. Our daughter can't wait to go back next year!
