I have played one of the 2 courses for many years and was normally pleased. Played the Presidential course this morning at 7 am and was VERY disappointed. The course was in terrible shape, the fairways were mostly dirt/mud and non-existent. Paying $60 for that experience was shocking and not warranted. If the course is going to be that poorly maintained and in that bad of shape, the price should be reduced. Needless to say I was very disappointed and will be telling my golfing friends to avoid the course for that price. read more

I've been playing here since 1990 and know that the Presidential doesn't drain out well but is a very cool track. Laid back atmosphere, conditions always favorable but lately course has gone down hill. 6 hour round today on the Presidential, called the club house twice to let them know to send out a ranger and Steve the pro said : "I will do my best to get someone out but we are short staffed". Are you kidding me? Not my problem you are short staffed and the course needs a ranger kicking the three foursomes in the butt ahead of us. When the ranger did come out he said "we got multiple calls of slow play, guess you guys want to get home to your wives" Really? That's your answer? Such a shame how this course has declined over the years and still charging $76 to play. Go play Honey Brook at $63, well worth the drive. read more

We are probably spoiled because we recently moved here from the Carolinas where the golf courses are pristine, but Hickory Valley is an A- in our book. Pros: -Quiet, not over-booked over packed with people on your heels - Extremely well kempt, the greens are spongey like a cloud - Gorgeous views, and some holes even back up to Quaker homes - Decent price if you go on the afternoon - Beautiful drive (about 55 mins from Germantown Philly Cons: - tough course; tight fairways - smelly ball-cleaning water, as if they haven't changed it in ages! read more

Played the presidential course. The course was well kept the second cut was just deep enough to remind you to keep it in the fairway the greens were soft and spongy I like them. This way only problem. Is the golfers that don't respect the green and repair bathe ball divots they heat index was 104. Plenty of cold fresh water both in tee foxes and being hand delivered free of charge from the course attendants a bit pricey at 68$. But we'll worth the price read more

Greens were in great shape. Staff was friendly and cart girl came around often on a hot Saturday afternoon. While greens were in good shape, fairways were kind of a dog track in spots and you would find yourself often hitting off of bare dirt. Area around the green had many grass clumps making putts from just off the green difficult. Price was a bit high (yes ... yes ... inflation ... high demand ... etc) ... for this type of course. read more

To be fair, I played Hickory Valley once and loved it. The course is in great condition especially for the middle of summer. The pace, according the people I played with who were regulars, can also be unbearably slow on the weekends, though. It was fine when I played it, however. However, like some other reviewers (here and golf adviser), I absolutely cannot recommend this course. The "old manager" as another puts it is very rude. Possibly the worst I've ever experienced at a golf course. It would take far too long to describe my experience in all and I really don't feel like reliving it. Let's just say I booked a Sunday tee time on Tuesday. Drove 50 minutes from my place and left due to how bad the service is/was. It was 100% the manager who was looking over the shoulder of his employee at the computer the entire time. He also raised his voice quite a bit. I have no idea why, I was speaking perfectly normal. All I was trying to do was figure out what was going on. The rest of the staff was perfectly kind (the first time too. Did not see the manager the first time). read more

Very neat course! My buddy and I played it last Sunday (Nov 2019) and I was impressed how well kept it was. Even though it rained the day before, they had the fairways and greens ready to roll. In my opinion, these were the cleanest fairways and greens I have played so far. I assume that is because they had a strict cart path only rule for riders when I played. My reason for a 4 star is alot of the holes I found were just straight shots, minimal challenge to then. The greens however, were very "hilly" and if you can play a spin on pitching wedge shot you better use it. Great place, good course, super advanced staff/setup. read more

I played a Charity Event on Saturday afternoon on the Ambassador Course at Hickory Valley. Hickory Valley has 36 holes, the Ambassador (Par 71) and the Presidential Course (Par 72), presumably the nicer of the two based on the price. The Ambassador Course was in great condition and was a really nice course. The listed rate on the board of $45 to ride on a weekend is definitely worth it. There are a couple things keeping Hickory Valley from 5 Stars. The first is club house/proshop/snack bar is too small and considering they have two courses it really could stand to be upgraded. Adding a small restaurant would see like an obvious move especially when you factor in item 2. The club is well outside of the city and it not really close to any of the major highways. Finally there is enough space for 36 holes but they couldn't manage to lay out the "driving" range so there is enough space to allow you to warm up with your driver. That being said though I think we will definitely be back to Hickory Valley at least once more to give the Presidential Course a shot. read more

This course is pretty challenging. I'm positive I would have scored better if I would have been more familiar with the course. I liked the fact that you weren't able to hit your driver for every tee shot. I feel that for $59 that it's a bit over priced. Maybe greens fees/cart rentals are generally more expensive on this side of the state, but I've golfed at much nicer courses in Western PA for cheaper. read more

Recently played the Presidential The course was in excellent shape my only complaint is you have no idea where the pins are placed.All white flags and you have to guess the pin locations.Carts could use some upgrading but overall a fine track. read more

Just finished playing the Presidential Course. Was in good shape. Greens were quick. My problem was with the rude Maintenance Staff. Mowing while we were playing hole 17 and 18. Kept coming into eyesight while over the ball. In 30 years of golfing never had that happen. I hate to thinks it's because we were two women but I won't rule it out. Very rude and inconsiderate behavior. Won't be back anytime soon. Sad because the course was nice. read more

The course was in great condition and we got around the course quickly , unfortunately the starter was an absolute scum bag and showed nothing but disrespect to my family and I , gave us horrible attitude when he was the one that read the receipt wrong (thought maybe it was just because we were there early) and then when returning the carts he had a horrible attitude too while he stuffed his face with a hot dog. This place is in the best shape I have ever seen it! Greens are plush, fairways are beautiful and the hot dogs rule! I am a 9 handicap and have played both courses frequently. If you are above a 10 handicap play the Presidential. The Ambassador is way to tight. When I say tight it's like hitting a golf ball down a bowling alley lined with big ass trees. Beer cart girl was a sweetheart and so is the young lady behind the bar(chick with the AJ tattoo) inside. They are currently running a big discount on Groupon so take advantage. After relocating to the area I found a little "gem" of a golf course called Hickory Valley and since I play with my family we like to get out alone and these guys always seem to be able to accommodate us. They offer 2 great courses and very reasonable prices and the staff in the pro shop is amazing, one afternoon my fiancee and I were playing and on the 3rd hole her feet were KILLING her from uncomfortable shoes, so what does a great guy do for his lady, call the pro shop and order up the best size 8's possible to relieve the pain, 2 minutes later an attendant showed up on the tee box of the 4th hole with new shoes in hand (along with a fresh pair of complimentary socks......NICE touch!) then we played on! I wish I had his name so the head Pro would know how much I appreciated that....the little things make a HUGE difference and keep us loyal. Only 4 stars because there is much desired when it comes to the 19th hole. they have enough space but no delicious dinners for a nice post round meal. A must play with amazing service... read more

I recently moved from Michigan (the nations Summer golf capital) and I am very picky about my courses. I have played probably 10 courses in this area and these two courses are still my favorite courses for the money. I have gone to more expensive courses in poorer condition then HC. I will continue looking for courses I like better in this area, but I may not find it. Keep doing what you have been doing. read more

Stay away from their Groupon offer unless you're able to golf on weekdays. Their weekend offer is deceptive. Its says you can use the groupon from 10:30am on during weekends and you must make reservations in advance. When you call to make reservations, they then tell you that you can only make reservations within 7 days of your reservation. This severely limits your ability to use this on a weekend. The golf course management says this has always been policy for non-members, but nothing is outlined for a groupon customer (or on their own site) who has never been to their course. Very deceptive offer with no remorse from the course managment! read more

Played the ambassador course. Hadn't played this course in a few years. It was in very good shape but the greens were almost unplayably slow. It was a Sunday morning prime time. No idea why they hadn't mowed anything. The rough is long and the course is pretty tight to make up for how short it is. From what I remember the presidential is the better (and more expensive) option here. read more

this course is always in fine shape. never mind blowing, and usually slightly over priced. all in all, not horrible value. however, todaY erOded the valUe after a pretty terential rain fall. My grOup was on the 13TH teE box and the siRen blew signaling all golFers to come in. after 30 minUtes of sitting, we were informed the Course was liKely to close for the day. at that point we asked for a partial rain check considerING we paid for 18 And played 12. we were informed that after 9 holeS of play, they do not give refundS. after only 9 HOLES. what a business model, sell full price but provide half the product??? very terrible policy and management. we drive an hour to play this course. no more. read more
