Steak and chicken hibachi
Victor P.

The food was great and very flavorful. Ordered the steak and chicken hibachi and there was more than I could eat. The service was fast and friendly. The dining room was very clean as well as the kitchen as far as I could see. Will definitely come back. I do recommend you try it for yourself.

Takeout ordered in person was ready quick but food lacked flavor and was barely warm. Only 5 minutes from restaurant.

This is a great place for delicious and fast Chinese food. I pass by this place very often and…read morefinally decided to give it a try. They give you the ability to order your food online, so I was able to check out the menu to see what they offered. They have plenty of options and many things to choose from. Prices are very reasonable and excellent bank for your butt. I went with the Mongolian beef combination plate, which also came with rice and an eggroll. The price was around $12. For that price, they give you a ton of food, nice portion size! Now to the important part... How did it taste? It was delicious! The flavors were excellent. I was also impressed by how much beef they put in this Mongolian beef dish. Often times restaurants will pack you with the vegetables, and not the beef itself. King Chef definitely gives you your fair share of beef as you should get. I was very impressed and I've been back another time since my initial visit. This will definitely be in my rotation of go to fast Chinese food places to eat!

I was quoted 15 minutes and food was ready when my husband got there to pick our meals up. I decided to change up my usual order and get the mixed veggies with beef combination plate. That's why finding Happy Garden was such a relief--it's truly the last of a dying breed. Tucked away in a small town, Happy Garden offers that classic dine-and-takeout experience you just can't duplicate. Stepping inside and tasting the food is an instant trip back in time, delivering those unmistakable classic Chinese takeout flavors from the 90s. Everything on the menu was a hit, from the rich and comforting Egg Drop Soup to the perfect Sweet-and-Sour Chicken. The quality is consistent, traditional, and deeply satisfying. Adding to the experience, the customer service was warm and genuinely good. For food this classic and comforting, I am more than willing to make the 30-minute drive. If your craving demands authentic, old-school Chinese cuisine, Happy Garden is the destination.

I've been going to Happy Garden for 2 years now, ever since I moved to Gibsonville. It's been my…read morego-to for Chinese take-out. The food is always really good -- though to be fair, I usually stick to the same few things: orange chicken, dumplings, beef and broccoli, and their rice. For Mother's Day weekend, I was craving Chinese again and decided to branch out and try the 'house special chow mein.' Because they offer both chow mein and lo mein on the menu, I did a quick search (ChatGPT and Google) to make sure I understood the difference. Everything I read said they're basically the same kind of egg noodles, just cooked differently -- lo mein is soft and saucy, chow mein is tossed in sauce and lightly fried for a crispier texture. Even on Happy Garden's own website, it says under Chow Mein that the dish comes with rice and egg noodles. And "house special" usually means a mix of meats and veggies, which sounded perfect. When I got the order home, I opened it and realized the chow mein was literally just cabbage and other veggies, with shrimp, chicken, and what looked like duck. No noodles. Now, I could've let that slide -- I get that every restaurant does things a little differently. But this was the first time I've ever gotten chow mein with zero noodles. So I decided to call and explain what I expected and what I got. The woman who answered was hard to understand, and after I explained the issue, she took my name and number. When she repeated it back, it didn't sound right, so I repeated it -- and she snapped, "umm yeah, that's what I said!" I apologized and said it just didn't sound right, I was just clarifying. She said the manager would need to call me back and review the order. About 5 minutes later, the manager calls. I start explaining what happened, and she keeps interrupting. So I pause and let her finish -- she goes on about how they make their chow mein. I say, "I get that, I'm just saying mine didn't come with noodles, and I expected noodles based on what chow mein usually is and what your webs--" She cuts me off with "What website!? What website!? Where did you order!?" I tell her, "Ma'am, I ordered from YOUR website, happygardengibsonville.com or whatever. It says under the chow mein category that it comes with rice and rice noodles. So that confirmed, in my mind, I'd be getting noodles." Now, if she had just calmly let me finish and then explained that their chow mein doesn't come with noodles -- just those little fried noodle chips in a bag -- I would've said, "ah, bummer. Can I place an order for lo mein?" That would've been fine. But the tone, the attitude, the defensiveness, the unwillingness to even hear what I ordered and why I expected what I did -- that's what killed it for me. So unfortunately, even though they're right down the street and I've always been happy to support local, I won't be going back. They don't deserve my business.
