Why do some Thai restaurants have funny names? There is Its Thai( it was terrible) Tew Thai( there is only one haha) Thai riffic, In the mood for Thai( makes me want to dance) and Thai Meric( what the....) Could it be that Thai people have this incredible sense of humour? Or maybe they know it makes it easy to remember- which brings us to Hi Thai.
I found out recently that there was a Thai restaurant in Olympic Park- my kids do gymnastics on Monday afternoons and we are always famished at 7:00 p.m so this week I decided to pick up some food on the way home and give it a go.
First of all placing my order on the phone was very easy, and I do not want to offend anybody but this is a major plus for them Because if you have ever tried to place and order on the phone at an Asian restaurant and wonder afterwards if you are going to get what you asked for, well you know what I mean.
I always stick to the basics when I order for the first time from any place- Pad Thai, chicken Satay, coconut rice, and Massamun Beef. Massamun in the best gauge of any Thai restaurant as a lot can go wrong when cooking it.I have to say.... It was magical- they have set the benchmark for what this dish can be! Fall apart tender hunks of beef in a beautiful sauce laced with kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass, perfectly cooked potatoes, and the most generous serve I have seen! The rest of the food was equally tasty but that one will bring people like me back for more.I will go again and have a sit down with the family and decide if this could be my new favourite Thai restaurant- even if they have a silly name! read more
