HI-Do Bakery 439 Terry Pkwy, Terrytown, LA 70056 I'm not sure who's NOT a fan of DO-OUGH, though, but I know I'm definitely am! When they're not dishing out Bomb king cakes during Mardi Gras, this is my to go to spot for baked goods and snacks! Do you want crossaints? They got that. Do you also want fresh French baguettes? They got that, too! Just know that you won't be disappointed! P.S. They only take cash, but they do have an atm. #Tonylameats #hidobakery #hido #bakedgoods #freshbread #terrytownla #neworleansla #foodsdventure

I had $5 this morning thinking that I could buy 2 croissants; that was the old days. Their prices have increased over the years. With tax, a ham and cheese croissant is now $4. Croissants are still fiya though!

Always a pleasure. Bought an almond cream filled cake for my work thanksgiving pot luck and it was extremely well received. Fed 90+ people and got rave reviews.

Cream cheese filling king cake! PHENOMENAL

I got Hi-Do bakery's cream cheese filled king cake at King Cake Hub. It was FANTASTIC!!! I could eat it for breakfast with my cup of joe every day! SO soft and moist, fresh, with plenty of delicious cream cheese filling in the middle! My boyfriend always said he didn't like king cakes, but that's because he never had any really good ones. He changed his mind after having Hi-Do's and LOVED it! He was like, "I guess I like king cakes now!" I know people rave about Dong Phong, but Hi-Do has some serious game! Skip the line and overhyped craze for Dong Phong and grab some Hi-Do!!

There are bakeries for days in NOLA where one can get king cake but I'm convinced that Hi-Do is high up on the list. For years they've been serving the community their versions of high carb classics, many of which are every bit as good (if not better) than the aforementioned king cake. I think anyone and everyone who is in the Gretna / Terrytown area owes themselves a visit to this excellent local bakery. They've definitely made a name for themselves locally; everyone hits up Hi-Do all throughout the year but especially during the holidays and mardi gras. They are great on the phone with custom orders for big groups and are super helpful in helping folks choose something worthy for takeout. There are a few tables inside, but most folks are in and out. As previously noted, their king cake is legendary. It's perfectly sweet and with just enough frosting for a sugary taste that doesn't overwhelm. It is the consummate gift and a quality addition to any special occasion gathering (#1). The cream cheese stuffing and optional strawberry swirl gives it the extra indulgence that would make most sweet tooths cower in happiness. My personal favorite is when they have it in the shape of a fleur-de-lis. Not many bakeries offer this. Everything else is also on point. I love their super simplistic but tasty cookies and the fluffy crunch of their croissants. The cinnamon roll is as filling as it is underrated and the carrot cake deserves some love. I'm so impressed with this family owned biz that I go out of my way to be there every time I'm in the area. They really do such an incredible job that they deserve all the recognition. __________ (#1) Or in times of pandemic, a personal affair.

One of the best bakeries for king cakes. They have other pastries too. Call ahead to order so it's ready ahead of time. The service is sweet and friendly. Friendly atmosphere. Tip: Cash only payment.

Love this bakery!!! Everyone was super friendly and they made sure everyone has their mask upon entry. Was able to get a Medium size plan king cake. Also got two chocolate covered croissants WHICH ARE FILLED WITH CHOCOLATE TOO! Those are amazing. The king cake was good too. I would probably get a filled one next time. They tend to stay moist longer. But very good price for the medium. I would recommend everyone making the drive out there to the bakery if you're in Jeff parish like me. Well worth it and not that far off the bridge.

Quick and easy. Came in about an hour after they opened to get a small king cake. Staff was friendly and packaged up the cake quickly. It's a small mom and pop shop and it smelled amazing. I'll have to try their bread and other pastries next time

I wanted to try a King Cake and was recommended to try this bakery. I ordered the small King Cake. It was freshly made with bavarian cream. Upon pick up it was nice and warm.

Ask the Community - Hi-Do Bakery

About how many people will their small king cake serve?

How much are the king cakes?

I think there is a pic for the prices. I believe it's roughly about the same! Worth it tho! Not as expensive as the well known places such as Dong Phuong! But amazingly soft!

We were across the river and I found this spot via Mapquest. It is a small, quaint, hole-in-the-wall type place. Limited selection but everything looked delicious. She even offers a bag of doggie treats! Though Eclair is in the title, they didn't have any available when we went. However, I was easily talked into trying the creme brûlée crepe cake as a substitute for the eclair. We left out of there with half dozen macaroons, a gold encrusted oreo cupcake, the crepe cake slice, and a bag of doggie treats. The macaroons are simply delicious, flavorful and colorful. The oreo cupcake was a hit, and devoured quickly. My son and I split the crepe cake and it was surprisingly light. I wasn't sure what to expect with the multiple layers but was delightfully thrilled with the taste. And true to form, it had the torched sugar crusted topping. Definitely worth returning for more. Aladdin also devoured his doggie treat with gusto. One thing to note, the crepe cakes have to be ordered ahead of time and purchased whole. We were fortunate to have been able to sample a slice. I will definitely be placing an order soon. Overall, a superb find and well worth the trip. I will be returning.

Not wanting to leave empty-handed...I grabbed a slice of cake and some sweet potato pie...and let me tell you...both were absolutely excellent...rich, flavorful, and worth every bite...that alone convinced me it would be worth making a return trip...so much so...I actually changed my travel plans from 4am to 6am just to try those beignets. The next morning...I arrived right at 6am...along with about five other customers already waiting outside...we stood there expecting the doors to open...but after a while...one customer called inside and was told they couldn't open because they didn't have a cashier yet...one by one...everyone left. I stayed until about 6:15am...hoping things would turn around...but eventually had to leave as well. That was definitely disappointing...especially knowing they lost at least five or more customers that morning. I'm really hoping this was just a one-time situation...because based on the cake and pie alone...this place has something special...I'll definitely give them another shot on my next visit... but hopefully next time...the service matches the quality of the desserts.

Dough Nguyener's Bakery -- 4…read more Dough Nguyener's really introduced me and my son to the flavors of ube and pandan... and I still can't believe I went my whole life without them. Like where have I been?! We are forever grateful for that alone. As someone who already loves Vietnamese culture through food here in New Orleans, this place just hits. Vietnamese coffee is a staple for me--not even for energy, but for the flavor. If you know, you know... that bold, strong, chicory-meets-condensed-milk moment. It's rich, it's cultural, it's intentional. And when you start adding things like pandan cold foam? Simple, but it speaks volumes about the influence and beauty of the Vietnamese community here. I respect it, deeply. Now let's talk about that Croffle... a croissant-waffle situation. I went with the Chantilly and berries because... you already know, I'm gonna choose what feels like home every time. The cream was smooth, the fruit was fresh, everything worked. My only thing--personally--it was a little heavy on the almonds for me. Still good, just my preference. We also had The American--eggs, bacon, French ham, hand-cut fries, garlic aioli, and a baguette. I shared it with my son and made my own little sandwich moment with it. Used the aioli as a base, layered the eggs, bacon, and ham... and I feel like that's exactly what it was meant for. Solid, simple, and filling. I've tried a few other things too like the bánh mì and donuts. The bánh mì was good, donuts were okay... not my go-to for that. But that frozen cocktail? Listen... it was TOO good. Took it to a festival with me and between that drink and that sun, I slept the whole festival away lol. Overall, I'll definitely be back. I still want to try more from the kitchen--especially that chicken everybody keeps talking about. This is a great spot for early weekend brunch, late evening studying, or weekday coffee runs. Not too small, not too big. Beautiful lighting. A really good addition to Gretna.
