I worked with HFM over the of summer 2014 on a kitchen/bathroom remodel in my Bedstuy brownstone. I never saw Howard after signing the contract. Once the contract was signed I had a team of workers who showed up sporadically and consistently cut every conceivable corner. A year later my toilet paper holder has fallen out, the towel rack and most door knobs are loose, the toe bumps fall off of my cabinets, I have a door falling off of its hinges, and another door whose magnetic fastening mechanism has fallen off. My "six week" project lasted around 4 months. I could go on (and on and on and on), but you probably get the idea. If you choose to try working with them, my only advice is to withhold as much money as possible until everything is complete, because they will certainly drag their feet on completing details, and be sure to have a VERY detailed punch-list you can refer back to. As of 2014 Howard only dealt with phone calls and faxes, so if you want anything in writing, you'll need a fax machine. In my experience HFM is a group of garbage people who do garbage work. read more
