Amazing place, the owner is sooo nice, friendly, professional, inviting and attention to detail! He made us feel great! The food was fabulous, adored the duck but everything was phenomenal, salad, potatoes, wine fondue everything!

One of the very nice wine selection. This went very well with our choice of beef and duck fondue.

Oh wow if you like fondue this is a great spot Well we found Heureux Comme Alexandre by mistake but it was a godsend because this off-the-main-drag fondue spot is to die for. It is all outdoor. The menu is concise and includes fondue choices of cheese with bread, meat to be fried in oil or on a flat grill and dessert fondue. We choose the cheese fondue with Morels and champagne and had the meat with beef and duck. Make sure you get the duck. We didn't have room for dessert, unfortunately. The staff was fast and very friendly. The wine selection was well-rounded. It was placed in a quaint, lively square. I have seen previous commenters day they only take cash but *we* were able to pay with Visa. Recommend. Come here if you're in Paris!

We found this amazing place on the last day of our trip to Paris and it turned out to be a major highlight! Unknowinly, we arrived a little ahead of dinner hours and as Alex and his crew were just sitting down to their own meal. Nevertheless we were warmly welcomed, and treated to a mini-course in what and how they served - which set us up incredibly well for ordering later. We chilled with some drinks, waited for our companions to arrive and throughly enjoyed the atmosphere and company. I haven't had fondue in ages, and the experience of searing our meats & veggies on a hot stone was new to me. Loved that - AND the dusting of herbs on the stone made being one of the first to claim some space there worth 'fighting' for ; ) The delightfully appointed dining room filled up quickly as Parisian dinner hours set in - & we were glad to have arrived early - tho there was also ample, heated space outside in an enclosed tent space, too. The meal was excellent, we were served extra veggies and a salad upon request, and a choice of special chocolate blends in little pots for dessert to finish. The whole experience was so great - we wouldn't have blinked if it was more expensive - but it was completely budget friendly and a total 'keeper' on our map now!

On the last night before heading back to the States, we found this gem of a Fondu restaurant near our apartment in the Latin District (Cluny). Tried to make an online reservation with no success, so we arrived as they opened at 6pm. The place is run by an animated gentleman who really seemed to have fun with all the customers. We ordered cheese fondu with mushrooms, 2 meats we cooked on a rosemary dusted stone and an incredible fruit and chocolate dessert. My 9 year old son and my parents had an incredible time. The food was all delicious and the service was as entertaining as it was welcoming and warm.

My friend and I (both American, but I speak French well) were searching for a good restaurant in the Latin Quarter that wasn't too tacky or touristy. We made a turn off the main road and found this gem. Alex found us on the street and while this is usually annoying to be approached by the restaurant, he made us laugh and feel welcome right away. His restaurant was empty at the time - at about 7pm! So we had a pick of tables and chose to sit outside. He immediately got to know us - speaks very good English even though he kept apologizing and saying he didn't. and was open to learning words from us and vice versa. He brought us free aperitifs and digestifs and as people continued to fill up the restaurant, he still made us feel connected to the restaurant. He introduced us to new guests, fostered a community at the restaurant, and even introduced us to local business owners walking by! By the end of the evening, we were laughing and taking pictures with many different tables. The food itself was very good - especially the chicken! So smooth and buttery somehow but delicious. Amazing fondue - more like raclette cheese so strong but good. We got duck, beef, and chicken and were very happy! We also had chocolate fondu and we're happy as well. We got cheered by the whole restaurant for our wine selection and being from Texas. Alex said he's been at the restaurant since the 90s but you can tell he has the energy as if he just started working there. He even FaceTimed with my dad - whose also a chef - to tell him I was safe and eating good food. Overall, we recommend this place to anyone for a good environment and good food! It was hard to leave at the end of the night.

Great little place to get traditional fondue. The menu is simple: pot of oil + meat fondue (meat is chicken duck or beef), cheese fondue with bread, and /or meat/veggie to cook on a hot stone. We got 1 cheese and 2 meat/veggie stone. That's all they have - three menu items. You get green salad and potatoes also - all you can eat. It's not on the main drag so is quiet. Opens at 6 which is a bonus for people who like to eat early. No need for a reservation About $20 per person.

Agreed, 5 star Well deserved! Delightful staff; filling/fulfilling our fondue need. We doubled down on the cheese fondue; truly the best I've ever had. Excellent with the beautifully browned, flavorful potatoes and the bread was excellent. Really a hidden gem and so good compared to our last Paris fondue experience. Bravo; we will Be back! Thanks for a great dinner and evening!

Amazing cheese fondue, workers were understaffed and still brought our food out extremely quickly! Amazing hidden gem!

    Getting hired

We had dinner here our last night in Paris. This dinner was easily the highlight of our trip. Our kids loved grilling and eating the fondue. But the reason this place is so amazing is the owner, Alexandre. He was so kind and funny - we just had the best time. Plan on spending several hours here enjoying the ambiance and food. Here are photos of our kid grilling (he "hired her and gave her an apron), he also organized a badminton tournament between the kids at the various tables in between serving us dinner! It was delicious, unexpectedly entertaining and so much fun! Go here not just for dinner but for an unforgettable night in Paris with an extraordinary host.

Holy crap. Not only is the food amazing but the staff is incredibly kind and hilarious. They start you off with a fresh salad before you dive into whatever you choose. They recommend things if you ask, aka wine and food. And it was honestly one of the better meals I've had in Paris let alone Europe. Tucked away in a quiet, easily accessible area. I highly recommend

Great fondue... service was ok. It's a busy place. One of my local friend suggested this place. We walked in on a weekday for dinner. They did not have a table, so we made a reservation for the next day for 9:00 pm. We came by 8:55. We were seated at 9:10. After which the long wait began. I think they were under staffed that day maybe. They took our order only at 9:45 :( It's compulsory to order 1 fondue per person. We order 1 cheese fondue & 1 cheese mushroom fondue. The taste of the cheese was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of my food. They do provide 1 plate of salad, potatoes & bread on the side. Food was great. But service was a bit slow.

No reservation and walked in for an early dinner, and were seated outside on a hot summer eve. The host is very gracious and helpful, very simple menu options and you choose the kind of fondue you want to have. The portions of the mixed meat fondue was generous by Paris standards; chicken/duck/steak. The meal was served with bread and salad. It is a simple relaxing dinner restaurant and a good place a bit to the side of a busy street with makes it more enjoyable.

The staff were all friendly and spoke English as well, so it was easy to order. They offer many types of cheese from regions of France, we ordered one of the cheese fondues and a salad. The fondues come with potatoes and bread. We enjoyed the salad and it provided some much needed veggies. The cheese fondue comes in a hotpot and you dip the bread and potatoes into it with a fondue fork. After trying it, I think I prefer cheese only when it's paired with meat, so I probably should've ordered the one with meat. It was also really late and I was quite tired from being out all day, so that may have also contributed to me feeling subpar about the meal. However, if you're a cheese lover, this restaurant should be right up your alley. Come here if you love cheese!

Best accidental discovery ever!…read more We were wandering the streets of Paris on our last night looking for a restaurant for one last memorable meal. On a whim we came in here because we saw that they served fondue and we thought that would be a good idea for supper. The restaurant name translates into "Fortunate like Alexander" in English. Did that ever turn out to be a fantastic decision. Read on to hear why. The restaurant's owner has to be one of the kindest, charismatic people that I have ever met. He welcomed us with open arms and we got to chat with him quite a bit and learn more about him. He also was very kind to us and gave us many free drinks just because he was a very generous person. This was completely unexpected and we were really grateful for this. In addition to a welcoming owner the atmosphere here in general was just relaxing and inviting. We got talking to the people at the table next to us and it turns out that they were regulars who lived in the neighbourhood and came here frequently because they had befriended the own. Meanwhile two buskers came by who played some mellow guitar music to add to the ambiance. Now I can finally talk about the food. We ordered a simple cheese fondue and it was wildly delicious. It came out very quickly and we enjoyed every mouthful. We were given plenty of bread to soak it all up and there was also a salad included so we could get some vegetables. Honestly my experience was so good here that I was almost sad to leave the restaurant at the end of the night. We wanted a memorable, final meal in Paris and boy did we ever get it. After eating here I feel fortunate like Alexander.
