I called the Hertz Pompano Beach office to confirm my rental was ready to go, they assured me it was. I came in and there was a problem with the vehicle not being closed off of a previous ride. After numerous phone calls and consults it was finally closed out. Then there was an issue with the Tamarac office trying to book my rental, I was standing there with a reservation number from the previous day, that took another 30 mins to straighten out. When I was finally cleared for the vehicle I noticed that it was dirty inside and out and I was told that was because the vehicle was shuttled around from Boca to Tamarac to Pompano I asked if a wash was available for it and was told yes but that would take 30 mins. At this point I was already late for appointments I had made but drove it to a nearby carwash and paid to have it washed and deodorized after which I noticed the windows with a dirty film (discusting) took the vehicle home and had to clean the windows myself because I was taking clients out for lunch. I was told because of the delay the return could be late and they would not charge for it (car picked up Tuesday at 9:30 am and returned Wednesday at 8:30 am) I went to my office and noticed a statement from Hertz with a $12.00 late return fee, I have placed several calls to the Pompano office with no answer. I don't expect any response from Hertz they are welcome to keep my rental and their BS late fees. In summary: CUSTOMER SERVICE - 0 stars VEHICLE - 0 stars VEHICLE ODOR - FREE!! the worst Hertz ever and I've rented cars from NY TO NC mostly I go to the airport but I needed something close. my biggest regrets ever. Patric claimed he was the manager tried to say they gave me the car on full and I brought it back on half a tank. I showed him my pics of when I got the car and made him go crank the car up to see that it was not on half. he said oh I'm not going to charge you with this but the car smells like weed. mind you I do not smoke the car smelled like I got a car wash. I tried to go get a sec opinion he rushed in the car and demanded I give him the key. I wanted to go return the car at Coral Springs because they never give me an issue, just smiles and polite customer service even if I show up when they are about to close. they need to train this guy read more

Still waiting for my receipt and the correction of my rental picked up a nail from the gas station to hertz didn't even know it until the agent said something and then wanted $200.00 for a new tire agreed to $50.00 even though they have there own maintenance department to fix the tire read more

Never recommend this Hertz in Pompano Beach, just because of worker or maybe even branch manager Jon (Jonathan Nero) who doesn't want to do his job, don't want to make pick up for the customers, ignoring, shouting, will keep you waiting hours, will ask you to call them 10 times. If you will be unhappy customer after that he might refuse to rent a car. Customer & owner beware of this man Jon. Very rude and bad attitude. Car was infested with german roaches. Infested. I just found one in my house and now in my car that I got back. I have never seen one of these roaches in my home or car before I rented from hertz. I returned the car yesterday. It must have been in my sons carseat and one must have came inside in a bag. I sprayed that rental car 3 times with ortho home defense still full of roaches. I told the people at the counter the car was infested they said..... "ALRIGHT" alright... She said alright!! Dont rent here. Esp a 2016 white nissan pathfinder. Omg I killed a roach on the radio while driving and baby roaches crawled out of it. I left my coffee cup in there while we were at the park and there was a baby roach in it. I sprayed and thought they would be gone then I left my cup in there another day while we went into the grocery store and it was full of baby roaches when I got back at least 7. Needless to say i sped home to get our groceries out of the car. The first time I sprayed I saw 2 adult german roaches run. One day I opened the door and one fell out. I smooshed one on the floorboard... I cant believe i didnt rush it back I just kept thinking the poison will work or my car will be done tomorrow. I really have too much on my plate right now. This has been a crazy crazy couple of weeks for me I wish I would have driven it back as soon as I noticed. But I was too busy, i just thought spraying it would work and my car was almost done being repaired. Now I have introduced german roaches into my life. I used to be afraid of roaches now that I have rented from hertz I can kill one no prob. I will never ever ever rent from hertz again! When the insurance company told me to go to hertz my hubs said no. I wanted it to be easy so I went there anyway. The car was covered in dings and stunk but who cares its just a rental. TERRIBLE! NEVER RENT HERE! The girl that waited on me at the counter is awful at her job. When I went to pick up the car on Tuesday morning she didn't even mention that she was charging me $200 for a deposit I had to ask her!! As someone working there she should be disclosing that and not just asking me for my credit card. After she took it I said what do you need my card for and she said there is a $200 refundable deposit. I just dropped off the car and she ok thank you here's your receipt and that was it. No explanation of the surcharges no explanation of the deposit. The car was gross and there were nasty stains all over the seats. I will never rent here ever again. read more

Had I have read Kate A.'s review, I wouldn't have wasted my time. I would give NO STARS if there was an option. Let me start by saying I reserved a car for the Xmas holiday weeks in advance. The fine print stated that a debit card can be used for payment, but check with your local dealer. This I did. I was told via phone that there would be a $200 charge (refundable) charged to my card. No big deal. I arrived when they opened (7:30am) on the day of my scheduled pickup. I was told that the pickup time was for 12:00pm and that I had to come back. I guess priceline set the time automatic as I did not realize this. Once again no big deal. Take an Uber ride over at 12 to pick up my car only to be told now that a "credit" check must now be performed. Credit check? You're taking my money (including security deposit) directly out of my account immediately. In a nutshell, i walked home without a rental car. Thank you Hertz for ruining a peacock's holiday. I really like Hertz rental car ....however not all locations are created equal or have good customer service such as the location on federal highway in pompano beach florida...... There were two customer service representatives behind the desk and they were both unprofessional and sadly they didn't even work together or help each other as well....first thing the customer service representative said to me is ' if you want a big car we are out we only have small cars now.......not a hello or how are you or how can i help you......just said we don't have any big cars.....yes i get it i don't care......i need a car and a small car will be fine. ...the representative next to her had to deal with a very irate customer who yelled at him the entire time but I really didnt blame him as he waited a long time to even be helped......so i blame the customer service representative for that and when she was done processing my rental she told me i would be getting a chevy sonic to drive and she told the driver to drive the chevy around the front .... I told her I would go out to meet him she said she was right behind me so im outside waiting and then i go back inside to look for her and to my surprise she was helping another customer and didnt even finish with me yet...... Like are you kidding me....i walk up to her I said i was waiting for you outside what happened. ...oh i wanted to finish with her i said thats not right she could have waited you were still helping me....and your not even finished with me either....so unprofessional. ..and she gave my car i was supposed to get that she had the keys in her hand to someone else. ...just the whole process i was not happy with.....whenever i need to get a rental car in the future it definitely won't be at this location i would have preferred the one on Sunrise but my particular auto body shop only takes customers to the one in pompano ....oh well i guess I will go to another body shop too... read more

I had problems two years in a row with this place for a three month rental. I never should have come back. I had to return cars both years because of orders from Hertz Corporate involving maintenance and a recall. Both times I was inconvenienced, had to deal with untrained and unprofessional staff, and was treated very badly. They have no idea what customer service is at this location. One star is far more than they deserve. Their customer service is absolutely terrible. I rented a car from this location for a business trip. My coworker and I hit some unexpected traffic and were going to arrive close to closing time. We called twice to inform them we were cutting it close, but they said they wouldn't stay to let us turn in the car. Since we were turning the car in we needed to be picked up, I had my father go into the Hertz location. He arrived 10 minutes before they closed. He also asked the Hertz employee to wait, but she left at 5:55 when they close at 6. We arrived at 6:02pm and all Hertz employees were gone. The woman also told him that they would not charge us for an extra day and to have the car back before 12 the next day. I left the car at Hertz over night and brought the keys back at 11:32am the next morning. When I brought the keys in the "manager" told me he had to charge me, going against what the woman told my father the day before. The moral of the story is: go somewhere else, these people don't value your business and won't treat you with an ounce of respect. read more
