I had to leave the state for my Aunts funeral and I rented the "managers" special - through Kayak I had to do a rental in a hurry and didn't care the type of car. Sooooo The manager put me in a clunker. 67,000 + miles! Stained seats and a broken trunk latch. Then I'm 100 miles into my trip and the "check engine" came on! So I called them and they told me that was normal and the oil had just been changed. I let her know that this was completely unacceptable. She just stated there was nothing more she could do. So I told her I would be calling corporate when next I stopped. Suddenly she said- "Oh we do have another vehicle you can exchange it for." I was as already 100 miles into my trip. So she said I could call Hertz in Elizabethtown and if they had a car I could trade out. They first. Nor did Louisville or Lexington. Came in last minute looking for a one way rental after we experienced sudden car trouble. Sylvie (Sylvia?) was extremely helpful and kind. Found a car for us for the following day and reserved it for us Later, after we found a car for same day, we went back in person to cancel the rental. Long story short, 1-800 had trouble canceling so we would try in the morning, but Sylvia ran out IN THE RAIN to tell us after we had left that she and the other gentleman in the shop had been able to get through and cancel the rental for us. Very patient, kind, went out of their way to help whether we ended up using them or not. read more

Well I thought surely the reviews were just one offs... my rental confirmed that was not accurate. I'm not sure where to start. The car was "ready" (using that loosely) 45 minutes after my pick up time. It smelled like smoke and was dirty. On day two the ants came out. There was no food in the car. Customer Service was atrocious. She was too busy on the computer or answering her personal phone that I hope the guy she put on hold called somewhere else. Two hours before we were supposed to pick up our rental, which had been reserved several days before and paid for, someone from this location called and said that they did not have any cars. When I contacted Hertz corporate, they said that if the location does not keep up with the reporting of the cars that they have rented, You can be stranded like this. I was in a car accident and this is the rental company that the insurance company reserved me a rental through. Picking up the car was painful. I arrived early and waited in line for about half an hour until I finally reached the counter. Only one employee was working the front desk and another came from the back of the store and they began arguing over who was going to check in customers and who was going to clean cars. Finally got checked in and had to wait another half hour for the car to be cleaned. Thank goodness my husband was with me or waiting around by myself for over an hour would've been terrible. The rental car was fine, it was just the customer service that was lacking. You could tell both employees did NOT want to be there and did not want to be working together. Fast forward to dropping off the car: different employee all together and he was very polite and friendly. He was making small talk with customers, smiling, cracking jokes, and made me feel appreciated. read more

We had a van reserved. This location didn't have the van. They said go to Nashville and they'll honor your reservation. The Nashville location bumped up the rate over $600 and didn't tell my wife until after she signed. They told her take it or leave it. So she would be stranded at BNA or she could get ripped off with a "signed contract" for the higher price. No one at cust service, Murfreesboro location or BNA location is willing to do the right thing and honor the reserved rate. I should've gotten a car comparable to mine (Sentra) I was given a Kia Forte which was ok as I only needed to get to work and home but the key fob didn't work I was late for work one night because the winter storm froze the lock and I couldn't get the key to work in the door. Made a reservation in January for a van in June, called a week before to confirm availability. Went to pick up vehicle, they had nothing available. They said the airport location would have a van available, they ordered a Lyft to send me to the airport. I arrived at the airport, they pulled my reservation handed me the paperwork and the receipt and they charged me an extra $650. I questioned the amount, the manager told me it was Murfreesboro's fault. I called the Murfreesboro manager who accused the airport staff person of lying and being wrong. Both managers told me corporate would resolve the issue. The corporate number told us it was the store's decision and their wasn't anything they could do about it. Horrible experience. I used them through insurance. My truck was hit a while back and needed a rental car until my truck was out of the shop. I made a reservation with them. They took an hour to pick me up from the auto shop after the guy I talked to on the phone said he'd be there in 10 minutes. Mind you I had to call them twice and the second phone call I talked to a different guy and seemed to have no idea what was going on. Well when they finally picked me up the guy didn't apologize for my long wait. We then had to drive back to the rental location to pick up my rental car. I asked the guy how long the process was going to take and he said "5 minutes". Figuring that it was 10:15 when they finally picked me up and I didn't have my rental car AND I had to be at work at 10:30, I immediately called my job at let them know that Hertz took an hour to pick me up and that I was going to be late. The guy overheard my phone call and he still didn't apologize. We arrive at the location, the guy checks me in which took about 10 minutes, not 5 minutes and gives me the keys to my rental. I leave, arrive to work late. A short time later, I noticed that the front tires are COMPLETELY BALD with wires sticking out and a chunk missing off one of the wheels. Granted I should have checked the car before I drove off, but they obviously don't check the cars either! Luckily I didn't get into an accident considering the storms that were going on! I had a guy friend call them to let them know what they had given me and the guy on the other end of the phone proceeds to argue with my friend saying something to the likes of "Well we thoroughly clean the insides of the cars before we rent them out again." What does that have to do with the death trap you chose to rent out!? Finally, the guy said that he'd send a new car out in 2 hours. Three hours and 2 phone calls later, they send a AAA towing truck to drop off my new rental and to take away my original. Today I'll be returning the rental, but needless to say thanks to this one horrible location, I will not be using Hertz anytime, anywhere, for any reason. read more

This location is awful. We asked for a mid size sedan like a Toyota Corolla, they said everything was ready up until we walked in the door. Then, all they had available was a Tesla. (My first time driving an electric vehicle, didn't mind too much). Then when I started asking about charging and the process, I was told "you'll be stranded if you don't use a super charger so good luck". Then I asked if it was fully charged, they said yes, it was not. I got in and it was already at 80%. To top it off, when I had a question about the charge, I called in and was told "you probably weren't listening to me when I explained it" ‍ the guy never even spoke to me other than to tell me I can't have the original vehicle I signed for. Online on Hertz.com I purchased with my debit just to be told at pick up I must pay with credit card. "It's a glitch" front desk says. Then I was told I must call MYSELF to customer service and change it. Wonderful. While on the phone automated phone line tells me a 3% charge will occur if I continue and urges me to handle this online, except they don't offer what I need to do online. While on the phone I get disconnected just to find out that customer support mistakenly canceled my entire rent trip. I look for front desk for any kind of help but they are as useful as snake mittens. As someone who tries to stay positive, I went online to rent again and it was triple the price - I asked the front desk to honor what I had paid for bc it was their mistake - and I got blank stares and shrugs. Someone runs to the back to ask the front manager if they could, and run back out having the audacity to recommend that I, myself should search Priceline or Expedia. Manager himself didn't have the guts to come out and tell me himself bc he knew it was BS. I start to cry bc I admit, now I feel stranded and no help. Again, workers at the front desk, who spoke awful about their own "customer support" and kept saying they "wish" they could do something. A blonde lady, medium build stood there and said she could have honored it, but "this isn't her store" but she was only talking out loud as if I wasn't there. Wow, this location is magical, they turn customers invisible. I was there for at least an hour and half and the manager never came out- scared of me much? Just proof of how guilty this was. Such a scam. I decided to call corporate and what do you know, I get disconnected again! The workers then spoke so much trash about corporate saying "I can't stand them" and "that's how they do" - Fellas, I sincerely wish you better jobs, because being at a place where you only press an enter button with no other access or authority to do anything isn't the way to push 8 hours a day. Finally my husband found a price online just the same so we went with it. I was able to rent the car and take it home right then. I was not walked out to see the car, only given keys saying "We took pictures of the car inside and out, we know what it look like" How professional. I've never had such a hard time being kicked down in the dirt with no one there to help me at the company. The very next day while on my trip I receive a phone call from Hertz telling me that they cannot fulfill my reservation bc they don't have any cars, while I'm in the car. Wow, competent guys! Make it make sense. Come to find out 2 days later my debit card was charged AS WELL as my credit card being charged and again, the front desk tells me I must call customer service. Me, not them who had made the mistake- I mean come on guys, even the T-Mobile stores the guys are calling and talking to India for us, but you can't? I get to my destination and my step dad being the mechanic checked my rental out. He's pissed bc he explained how they placed the cheapest tires on there, and that they were really choppy and dangerous. I'm telling you this because the car doesn't come with a spare tire, so if you don't purchase roadside assistance, you are SOL and I'm sure that's what Hertz is hoping for. I will never rent from Hertz ever again and will do everything I can to share my story of this most awful customer experience I have had since associating with this store. Reserved my vehicle online for a week long rental for 7 passenger vehicle. The price was well under $1k for a week. When I arrived, I was told there was nothing available but one vehicle, a 5 passenger small suv. I was given two options as I was stranded at this location: go to Nashville or take the one vehicle they had. As a single parent on a very tight schedule to pick up kids, I did not have time to go to Nashville to pick up a vehicle I reserved at this location. I was charged just shy of $500 a day for a much smaller vehicle. I was told to talk to customer service to have the price adjusted to match what I ordered. After my brief discussion with the manager I was informed that they do not specifically rent out vehicles and the one ready for me is the only one available. Our HORRIBLE experience: Made a reservation at the Murfreesboro Location to pick up a midsize car at 12:30pm. Updated our reservation online to 10:30am 1.5 hours before arriving, tried to call-no answer. Arrived and was told they didnt have any midsize vehicles available and that a reservation IS NOT a guarentee they have a vehicle for us. Told they only had a compact vehicle available (we were fine with that just wanted a car to get home). We were also told they didn't really know how to apply my husbands company employer discount. (Still okay) Drove off in a Hyundai Accent about 2 hours in the ac wasn't cooling the car we stopped and eat to let the sun go down a bit thinking it was the heat coming into the car. Drove another 2-3 hours and notices the ac was not blowing at all it felt as I'd the fan was on with the lowest setting even though we had it at the highest Max ac. Already between Memphis and Little Rock we call the location-no answer, called customer service-on hold for total of 1 hour, called Hertz on hold for 12mins, called again demanded a manager-not available but was told we can come and exchange vehicle, Called roadside service- they also couldnt get ahold of that locations manager we were told to go to the Little Rock, AK airport location and exchange the vehicle that the manager WILL be able to help us. Arrived and to a rude women whom after we stated our issue , told us "I don't know what you expect me to do, we don't even have cars for are "OWN" customers. She continued, " That location you picked up from is a privately owned company and there is nothing we can do for you, why didnt you stop In Memphis? We dont have ANY cars available (as other customers with reservations are picking up vehicles) there is nothing I can do for you you need to call roadside service." After once again explaining that we have already done so she points down the hall and tells us to go to Thrifty Car Rental and they might be able to help us. Ms. KEELA was very helpful and understanding and told us she would figure somthing out for us! Thrifty as well was out of cars but managed to put us in the exact car we reserved for a Toyota Corolla midsize car. After a further look into our order we realized the original pick up location charged us for a midsize vehicle yet gave us a compact vehicle (with broken ac I may remind you)!! Ontop of that the gentleman picking up a vehicle in front of us was upgraded FOR FREE to a small SUV when they didnt have a midsize available for him, yet we WERE CHARGED FOR A MIDSIZE AN DOWNGRADED TO A COMPACT! After sitting in a hot car for 6hours, being redirected to a airport car rental, dealing with customer service, roadside assistance and management at Hertz (One Airport Drive, Little Rock, AR) for a total of 1.5hours, we are finally on our way back home NO THANKS TO HERTZ BUT A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO Thrifty Car Rental AND KEELA AT THE LITTLE ROCK, AK LOCATION. Stay away from renting here. It's dysfunctional and unorganized. They charged me for refueling the tank when I returned it on full. They said I might get a refund even though I didn't sign up for their refuel plan and I specifically told them to not add that to the contract. They said they wouldn't and did anyway. I have been renting from this location for more than 8 years. During that time it has had many personnel changes and has been remodeled. We have never had a bad experience there. Every car we've ever rented has been a new model, beautifully clean and lovely. I will admit that sometimes, we've had to wait for service. However, we expect it because this is a small, local location. If you don't want to wait, go to the Nashville airport and rent from there. The guys who work there are all very courteous. Ben, the assistant manager, is really awesome. I had to rent a car last week and the one they reserved for me wasn't comfortable for me and he found another car on the lot to put me in with no problem at all. Believe me, he could have rolled his eyes or sighed heavily, but he never did. I have recommended this location to many of my friends and none of them have ever had any reason to complain--in fact, they thanked me. Recently, my son had to rent a car due to a repair that had to be made on his vehicle. They didn't have a full size car that my son could fit into comfortably (he's a big guy), so they gave him a deal on a better car so he could still rent from them within his budget. I would recommend this location to anyone who needs to rent a car in Murfreesboro. It's a small operation, and you may have to wait, but their service is completely worth waiting for. read more

Horrible experience. I showed up to my rental reservation time a few mins early. In that time the only person working ignored my presence for at least ten mins while he was on the phone. After patiently waiting her greets me not with a "hello" or "how are you?' but "what can i help you with?" So, from there, he goes to hand me keys for a rental and realizes that the tags are expired. So I wait some more while he figures out an alternative vehicle. Finally, i get different keys and head to my rental only to discover that it has not been gassed up nor has it even been cleaned!! Trash everywhere. I go BACK IN to tell the guy, he's irritated and tells me I can wait while he cleans it. I have a 10.5 hour drive ahead of me- I didn't have time to wait. So, I went on my way dirty car and all. Later i realize that the trunk doesn't close all the way- nor does it lock--- with all my luggage in it! When I return the car, same shitty greetings now from 3 workers, whom I explain my concerns with and they blow it off- no thank you, no f* you, nothing! ugh! so I try to call customer support also so damn rude- i get so upset that I hang up!! I rented a car ahead of time with this Hertz location to take a trip. When I went to pick up my intermediate-sized car, the man informed me that he had two vehicles available, a compact and a pickup truck. When I explained that five people would not fit in a compact, he said that there is basically no difference between what I reserved and the compact. Of course, if that is the case, I wonder why I was being ripped off with a price difference. Eventually, I asked for a refund, and he informed me that I would need to call customer service for a refund since I was a prepay customer. There was absolutely no regard for the inconvenience. No apologies were given, and he even seemed irritated that I wasn't taking a car that would not work for the trip. To say that the customer service at this location was subpar would be an understatement, and in the future I will be happy to pay a few bucks more for a company that cares about me as a customer. read more

I continue to experience the worst costumer service from this office on a daily basis. On my full admission I failed to remove my garage door opener, cell phone car charger and an auxillary cord not to mention the name tag to pick up my daughter from school, the day I returned the vehicle was the same day I called the office admitting my mistake. After some himming and hawing I was informed the vehicle was gone for cleaning. The gentleman informed me he would call the gentleman responsible for cleaning the vehicle and request him to return my items. The next day I again called and was informed the cleaning gentlemen did not call back and did not drop off my items. I asked where the vehicle was actually located and I myself would pick them up. Was informed he had no idea. The next day I stopped at the Hertz office and was informed by the gentlemen he was not working that day and has no idea. The following week I call again and was informed my items had not been returned. I requested for my items to be located or reimbursed for said items. Today I called and was informed my items were not returned and the vehicle has been rented out. I was never given a call as I requested with no decisions on how to make this right. No accountability, no follow up, no belief in customer service. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED on how I was treated. read more
