This location is horrible. They called me the day before my reservation to tell me that they do not have any cars available for that day. I asked if there was anything they could do because I payed for the car in advance. They told me no and I should contact the 3rd party company. I asked what was her name and she said Keondra and then I asked for her last name. That lady hung up the phone in my face so quick it was unbelievable. I rented a car from Hertz online in October of 2023. When I picked up the car, I didn't realize that it was an electric car. I had never used one before, but I went ahead and took. The car only had 50 miles when I got it, and it began decreasing when I drove home. This was even though I didn't live 50 miles from the Hertz location. I went straight home and tried to charge it up. After two hours, it only charged up two miles. I immediately began calling Hertz asking for a replacement vehicle. I was told to go to the airport to exchange it, but when I got there, I was told that I couldn't. As a result, I began looking for a charging station, but I couldn't find one. The car began beeping so loudly that I pulled on the side of the road and began calling Hertz again. After sitting there about an hour, they finally told me where I could go. I went to a Mercedes dealership and charged it for a couple of hours, and I was about to get about thirty miles. I picked up my son from school and went straight home. I immediately put the car on the charger. When I woke up, I checked the milage, and it was just a little over fifty miles. I thought that I would be able to take my son to school and go to the charging station after that, but the car cut off on me in the middle of traffic. Again, I called Hertz and asked to be compensated. I was told that they were going to charge me a towing fee. I was also told that I would have to wait for the car to be turned in before I got a refund. After the car was turned in, I made a complaint, but the only way a person could make one was online. I received follow up emails, but nobody ever responded after the initial email. I kept calling and tried disputing it with my credit card company. After it went through arbitration, it was found in Hertz's favor. I didn't figure out why until I contacted the BBB on them. They told the BBB that I drove over 150 miles in the car within a day's time, and that's simply not true. I don't even drive that distance within a day in my own car. I brought this up with the BBB, but the case was closed. The practices of Hertz are very deceptive, and they were recently sued in a class action lawsuit for deceptive practices. This is not over. Be careful before renting from them. read more

Staff at the "Sonic Drive-Winchester HLE" location called me at 5:56 the evening before my pick up at 8 am for a business trip, and told me that this location and all their others in memphis, do not have any cars available. I have already paid for the rental, made travel reservations - now i am scrambling to find another rental. She offered no alternatives and was extremely rude. Horrible customer service, horrible company. I will never again and will advise others to steer clear of Hertz AND this location. Very unprofessional and rude. read more

Don't count on Memphis Airport Herz delivering at reservation time, prepare for 2+ hour wait. Had a reservation but did not receive a car for 90 minutes. Booked with same Hertz a couple months prior and had to get a refund because of the wait. Counter staff were friendly but provided absolutely no indication whether we would receive a car, with a reservation, in 10 minutes, 10 hours or at all. If it weren't for the frustrated customers you'd have no idea anything was wrong, seemed business as usual. read more

Terrible Staff! Terrible Staff! Terrible Staff! I was so frustrated with my experience here that I became enraged to the point of verbally abusing the staff! After waiting for 6 hours on a car to arrive at a facility that doesn't even keep cars there, I talk to Tammy and she tells me she has a car for me and apologizes for my frustration prior to speaking with her. I tell her I am heading to her to pick up the car. She asks how long, I tell her 20 minutes. (I find out the reason on the way to the office (from the insurance company) they don't have any cars is they are changing fleets and don't really have ANY cars to rent.) I get there in 19 minutes to be told she just left to take the car to the facility that I had been waiting for originally. Wait? What? It hits the fan then... I asked the guy there why he didn't tell me about the fleet change and his response was, "I had been telling people that all day". Why not me? I wait for her to get back after we call her and every second is more maddening at this point. When she finally arrives Adam was done and I didn't care how bad I offended anyone there. The breaking point for Tammy was we telling everyone in the office was an "IDIOT" She snatched my ID and CC up said I don't have to take this from you. I still stand behind this statement. They are all idiots! In hindsight, I realize that it did not help me get a car when I really needed one after an accident left me without one. I was refused service and was asked to leave after telling them that they "sucked" (this part was funny, dude was like, no sir, I do not suck) that part was worth having to go to Avis and getting a car. read more

I called this office about turning a car in, after we found that we needed to change a reservation from round trip to one-way. I was told that the cost would be $273. We immediately drove there; when we arrived we were told that it would actually be $873 -- $600 more!! In the end we were charged about $630 -- still $350 more. The problem originated when the renting office in Green Park, MO told me to rent the car round trip, though I said that we might need to change to one-way. Nothing was said about a substantial upcharge if we did that. The Cordova office compounded the error by telling me the cost would be $600 less than they charged when we did arrive at the office. Finally, Hertz corporate refused to fix the errors, and rent the car for the charge of $273 that I was quoted. read more

I got here 6 minutes before 8am. On yelp the hours say they open at 7:30am. The lady not only wouldn't pull up my reservation, I had to stand outside and wait. I'm a gold member and my company does a lot of business with hertz. This is ridiculous. Treat your customers better. read more

Surprise surprise. I had a charge from them. Hertz said they spoke with State Farm and they weren't going to cover the extra days (getting the stupid tire fixed) I said that makes no sense since I didn't even come close to my maximum days or rent amount. I called State Farm. State Farm told me of course it's covered and they never talked to hertz. Hertz also told me they couldn't refund me. But no worries State Farm rocks and took care of it. Beware!! This location is the absolute worst Hertz location I have ever dealt with. Cars are often dirty; smoky smelling and don't even think about getting a car you reserve. My husband is a gold member and where most locations honor that status (one given by Hertz) this location does not. My husband arrived there this morning to be told his reserved car was already rented. (Not the first time) He got a car after waiting twenty minutes. Only for that car to have a tire with low air pressure. He called to say the tire was low, he would fill and if no problem after that...all good. He drove about a mile home. Worked a bit more, got ready to go and upon getting back in the car discovered air pressure was down again. He took the car back. Instead of apologizing and getting him another, the woman said he was going to be charged for the tire. At this point my husband was so furious, that he called me to take him to the airport to get a car from that location. He got his bill and they have LIED and said he drove the car 78 miles. Incredulous!!! DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION. If you do, MAY GOD BE WITH YOU. read more

No parking, rentals everywhere but had to wait for them to clean one for me for over 20 minutes, they wouldn't give me price I booked online. Having a drivers license as ID for my Credit card was not good enough for them. I could go on and on but as you can see from others, just stay away. read more

So, I signed up to rent from this location initially because a Priceline deal listed this as the best price. But upon checking online for driving directions, I was honestly ready to cancel the reservation based on the past reviews. It was July 3, and I wanted the rental to get to Kentucky, but I figured I would have rather taken my own vehicle rather than run the risk of the exploitation and poor customer service described by other reviewers. I would like to thank those reviewers, first of all, for making me aware of the possibilities. When I arrived, Brian greeted me professionally and invited me inside. Ready with all of my questions, I began to try getting his word on the exact nature of my rental agreement with this company. He continued to be very professional and compliant, saying I could leave my personal vehicle parked at the curb, I could return my keys the next day (July 4th) even though they would be closed without an additional day of charges, and I would not have a gas charge unless I signed up for one.He quoted my total cost with taxes, and gave the usual rundown that an additional $200 would be put on hold with my credit card, but would be returned upon successful return of the vehicle. At this point, it started to rain--hard. Brian took it upon himself to go out in the storm to bring the vehicle around to me at the curb so I wouldn't have to stand in the downpour. I drove the vehicle to Kentucky and back, returned the key in the drop box (which despite fine print on that box saying a fee would be added for days they are closed, Brian reassured me there would be no such charge), and went home to make sure the $200 would be returned in a couple of business days. And--refreshingly--it was returned without incident. Perhaps it was because my expectations for the worst were present at first, but I had a very pleasant experience renting from this location, and would do so again. Perhaps this location has had a change of staff, or I caught a good day. Either way, I wanted to put my two cents in so that you can rest assured there are at least a couple of good eggs at this Hertz location! read more
