I've seen them remain calm, courteous and friendly even when demand is high and the phones ringing constantly. If you plan to keep your valuables on you for example, then you probably don't need to opt for 'theft insurance' on a weekend trip to Cape Breton. If you're under 25, prepare to pay a premium! This small little lot has served me well a couple of times over the past year. Both times the service was good and the vehicles were great. I am writing this review because my most recent car return involved a surprise - $500 more than I was expecting. I was handed the bill without the clerk going over the details and almost headed out the door without doing some quick math. When I mentioned the discrepancy between my expectation and the bill, there was some rather neutral typing on the computer, a quick phone call followed by a request that I wait 5 minutes for the manager to arrive. To her credit, she did quickly verify that the manager was just on his way back to the shop, and when he did arrive, he corrected the bill within a matter of minutes. The clerk could have been more open and friendly, but at least the end result meet my expectations. As I live in downtown, I will definitely go back.

Staff weren't as friendly as at the airport location, but they were competent and efficient, which at the end of the day is what I want, as long as they aren't rude to me, which they weren't. This location is great as it is right in downtown Halifax. In order to get to it, you have to enter a gated parking lot. Just press the button for a ticket, you obviously don't have to pay for it because you are leaving the car with them. The location is co-located with an Avis. I actually think they are owned by the same parent company. Note, we were charged $75 for dropping off at a different location than we picked up, even though both locations were within the Halifax Regional Municipality. This was in the rental agreement so it wasn't a surprise sprung on us at drop off, and many car rental companies charge this additional fee, but I thought it was worth mentioning nonetheless.

I called as soon as we found out our flight was delayed to pick up the car the next day. But they don't hold your reservation if you don't pick it up within 2 hours of your initial reservation. Despite pleading with them, offering to pay an extra day, they without any care, gave our car to someone else. Refusing to hold our reservation for the next 6 days. Now our vacation is ruined as we don't have a car. Every other rental in Halifax is sold out. Have to cancel plans. Horrible company ruined our whole trip. Don't rent from these people.

They did a quick inspection and then printed out my receipt (which was printed on a dot matrix printer - love it!! Lol). Since I had signed up for text notifications, I also got a text that my car was successfully returned. This particular location is small and there's not that much around. I've rented from Budget many times and overall the experiences have been good. The only complaints and it's pretty minor is that sometimes the cars aren't the cleanest, like sometimes there's garbage from a previous customer left in the cup holder on the door, or in the glove compartment. It's never anything too gross, so that's ok, lol.
