The view of the water is unbeatable (and when the tide is out you can walk down and stroll along the ocean shore!). We love these so much that we've been there twice in the last month. Economy isn't too far from Halifax, so you don't feel like you're killing much time in travel. But it's far enough that you feel like you're far from home and away from it all. There are three Bernese Mountain Dogs that roam the property and love making friends with guests. The owners are friendly, and the duty manager Warren couldn't possibly be more helpful and happy to make your stay the best possible. I really can't recommend these cottages highly enough. Give them a try, you won't regret it!

We happened upon this place only to find them full. The people were so nice, and after some calls they found us a place in Parrsboro. We were impressed with the place and decided to return the next day for a night. That one extra day turned into three extra days. The cabins are very well equipped, clean and reasonably priced. It's right on the bay and the tides are amazing. We definitely plan to return some day.

So I always wanted to go visit Cape Breton Island. My wife thought the drive is too long but this…read moreChristmas she gave the green light. I researched for a while on where to stay. In the middle of the winter time most hotels and motels are closed on the island so I had to look on Air B&B. Sidanna Retreat caught my eye. They had a ton of amenities and the interior of the houses were just awesome. The owners really do have an eye for interior decoration. I contacted the owner and asked her some questions and she was really nice and answered all of my questions. A month later I booked the "Mystical Chalet". Its an awesome A-frame on the top northern edge of the island. It has a hot tub, pool, and a sauna. So everything seems good right? Responsive owner. Great location. So why the one star? The pool was broken. And she let us know 1 1/2 hours prior to check in that is was broken. The pipes froze so the pool was out for the count. I mean it happens right. Things break. Plumbing fails. She said she would take care of us. So while my girls were really disappointed we made the most of it. Now the main reason I picked the mystical chalet was the pool. And because of the hot tub, the sauna, and the pool, the chalet commands one of the highest prices on Air B&B for the area. But mainly its the pool because its pretty much the only Air B&B with one. So at the end of the stay she sends me a message that she refunded me 11% of the stay because of the pool being down and it was "purely as a gesture of goodwill" and she was not obligated to do so. What?? Thats some arrogant BS. The amenity that allows them to charge through the roof is not working and they dont think that they needed to give me a refund? They said giving a refund is beyond what their policy requires. I want people to look this up on chat gpt, Google, reddit. When a major amenity goes down the standard is 30-50%. Especially if the pool is a major draw. And when a major amenity like this goes down they also need to give the option for me to cancel the reservation. How would you feel if you are going on vacation in the middle of nowhere and the main featured amenity goes down! I wouldn't have booked this A-frame if it wasn't for the pool. Thats a fact. The owners insisted that the pool closure was outside of their control and the 11% was more than enough and again that they didnt need to even give that much. She said that the pool while is a nice amenity its not the only reason people book the chalet. So I guess shes a mind reader now. Just epically arrogant. So after a little bit of research I went directly through Air B and B and was refunded 30%. The hosts broke a major hosting standard by telling a guest(me) no refunds for a closed amenity. I mean it can be total false advertisement right? I hope they learn from this encounter and do not try and limit the rights that the guests have in situations like a closed amenity. Their mindset was purely that they didnt do anything wrong in the closing of the pool. That it wasnt a maintenance issue and just because of extreme circumstances they had to close it. And because they didnt do anything wrong they dont have to refund their guests anything... its just obvious they only really care about the bottom line and themselves. I guess she totally forgot that they can charge through the roof for having a pool on their property? And she forgot that she totally made us disappointed to start our 5 day vacation? I guess she doesn't think people book a place solely for the pool? I could tell that the host was trying to gauge me. I got a sense that she was trying to get a read on me before giving the refund. FYI I'm not a complainer. And I keep a pretty cool demeanor. So she could have totally got the sense that she can just give the minimum and get away with it. I dont bitch and complain but im no walk in the park. I fight for whats right. Priyanka. Read this. Let it soak in. And learn from this. Dont take advantage of your guests. Give a refund when its due. Its the best way and sometimes the easiest way to alleviate headaches. And please dont make up stories and lie on responses. You didn't offer the place next door. I asked about it first. I didnt take it because it was already booked the 1st two nights. You also offered 11%. Not 15% as a refund. And communication was never difficult. Dont make up stuff just because you are sore about a review. Your true character shows in your responses.

The Canadian Maritimes: Quintessential White Point…read more As owners of ten timeshare weeks, the university's academic schedule permits numerous opportunities during the calendar year for adventure and exploring. We have visited the Maritime Provinces in Canada on several occasions. Our usual motor route is Ohio to Ontario and then time is allotted to visit London, Waterloo, Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, and the Maritime Provinces: New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia. For this holiday, we opted to fly into Halifax, Nova Scotia for a ten-day visit to the Maritimes. We extended the week's visit to White Point Vacation Club with overnight lodgings in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and New Glasgow, Nova Scotia prior to our week at White Point Vacation Club in southern Nova Scotia. We returned to our Ohio home for one night, and immediately flew to our Marriott Ocean Pointe resort in Palm Beach. In eighteen days we experienced the beaches of the Maritimes and the Palm Beaches. The contact information is White Point Beach Resort (#R638), 75 White Point Road #2 Queens County, NS, B0T 1G0, Canada, 866.869.2585 or 800.565.5068. The RCI photos do not accurately display the condos, but http://www.redweek.com/resort/P5064-white-point-vacation-club does provide several accurate interior and exterior photos of White Point Vacation Club. My initial reaction to the photos was that these condos are "mobile home units" similar to ones that we had visited in Napa Valley. The Napa Valley units were much too small for two adults. However, the White Point Beach Resort condos are actually freestanding modern spacious wooden homes. Each condo is located on nearly an acre of ground. White Point Vacation Club provides seclusion and privacy. White Point Beach Resort condos are very large accommodations; offer a full kitchen, all cooking utensils, two spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, a small dining area, a large family room with a wood burning fireplace, a huge wood deck with furniture, and a gas grill. White Point Vacation Club is a unique facility. Beware of the large bunnies that have been a White Point tradition for decades. The condo units are nestled in a forest setting similar to cabins in a state or national park. White Point Beach Resort resembles an "older" Michigan or New England resort. "Older" may connote romance and ambience. Some readers may recall the secluded lodge in the 1987 film Dirty Dancing. The storyline called for a setting (Kellerman's Resort) in the Catskills, but the actual Dirty Dancing lodge is in Virginia (Mountain Lake Resort in Pembroke, Virginia.) White Point Beach Resort was constructed in 1928 as a private hunting and fishing lodge. White Point Beach Resort initially consisted of a few cabins on the beach, an eight-room main lodge, and a dining room. These buildings remain and are functional today. Expansion has been gradual and continuous through the years. All the original buildings were of split log construction. Modern construction coexists with nearly 75-year-old structures. White Point Beach Resort is Atlantic Canada's very popular year-round, seaside beach vacation destination. The resort features a half mile white sand beach, indoor and outdoor pools, lake, golf, tennis, trails, surfing, recreation programs, a spa, and dining room showcasing Nova Scotia cuisine. White Point Beach Resort is in very high demand with the residents of Halifax who are only ninety minutes north. White Point Beach Resort is also a destination for many Canadians and U.S. citizens. White Point Vacation Club is a timeshare that is an integral part of White Point Beach Resort. One visitor noted, "You won't be disappointed with the world-renowned Maritime hospitality. People are down to earth and not cosmopolitan as Nova Scotia mostly has small towns and villages." We have frequently experienced this hospitality in the Maritimes. White Point Vacation Club is s 95 miles southwest of Halifax on Route 103. Take Exit 20A, at the intersection of the highway connector and Route 3, turn right (West) on to Route 3 and follow Route 3 (White Point Road) to White Point Beach Resort. Liverpool is the nearest town where chain grocery stores and other small stores and restaurants are located. Liverpool is about ten minutes north of White Point Beach Resort. It seems essential to arrive at White Point Beach Resort during the daylight hours. The driver must be careful of children and bunnies when entering the White Point Beach Resort property. Check-in for the White Point Vacation Club is at the main White Point Beach Resort lodge. The check in process is efficient and without the nuisance of a timeshare sales staff. The White Point Vacation Club is in a forest beyond a small lake, and the drive involves several alternative dirt roads. The approach is very straightforward in daylight but may be confusing after dark.
