Hertz is the same no matter what airport or location you're at , the only difference is the people that work there. So I guess the best rating to do on this location is the staff they are friendly very helpful and accommodating. Scott who claims to be the supervisor at this location is a nightmare. He's rude and very unprofessional. I rented a car from this location at the last moment when my flight was unable to accommodate my puppy. After a 1700 mile drive I returned my car before 5 pm as I was instructed by the rental agent. The location I returned it to said the airport branch is a franchise and they would need to close out invoice. I called the location and spoke with Scott who was rude from the beginning. The agent asked for my contract number on speaker phone. He then very politely asked if I could change the credit card on the contract and Scott's reply was NOPE and rudely said the invoice was closed and hung up. We all just stood there in shock. A few minutes later I received my invoice via email and I saw a late charge of $98 when I called back to inquire about it. He laughed at me and said you should have read your contract it needed to be back by 3:55 pm. I told him that's not correct and Montana is an hour ahead of CA. He just kept laughing at me. This whole time I was on speaker phone and the employees of hertz were appalled. They couldn't believe his tone. I said I would have my attorney contact him. 15 minutes later I was sent a revised receipt with the charge removed. I did make a formal complaint with hertz but because it's a franchise there wasn't much that could be done. I was advised by hertz Corp not to use a airport location as they are all franchises. Due to weather delays, I missed my Sunday night connection from Salt Lake to Great Falls, so I flew to Billings in order to drive 3 hrs, to make it in time for patients at the hospital Monday morning. I had called ahead to Hertz customer service to change my original AWD reservation in Great Falls for to add a one way. Arrive past midnight to the counter in Billings and they said I had reserved a sedan and they can upgrade me to a RWD Challenger. The agent even states it's going to snow. Meanwhile there's an AWD Challenger and a Santa Fe that they cannot loan to me. But in order to get a Honda Pilot, I would have to pay for the higher class, which I was fine with. However, they didn't seem to understand the concept that 1) We're in the middle of a historic blizzard that's dumped a foot of snow 2) This is Montana in winter and there are winding roads btw Billings and Great Falls 3) A RWD in these conditions is not an upgrade 4) I didn't make the reservation for a sedan (customer service did) 5) they didn't even have a safer FWD sedan 6) refusing the available vehicles for a reserved one way and requiring a paid upgrade amounted to extortion. Susan, the supervisor on duty didn't want to hear it and told me to look elsewhere. Thankful I found more understanding service at the National/enterprise counter and a safer Chrysler Pacifica to make the drive that included patches of ice and snow. This also isn't even a corporate Hertz so I can't even completely fault Hertz. Don't use Hertz in Billings! read more

Absolutely no complaints! Great front desk staff, and WOW they trust you at this place. We did a quick tour around the car and made the "scratch/scuff" notes on the pad, but there is no where to turn it in. I assume they must keep pretty good track of the previous damage to the cars, since there is no one there to check things as you leave. Return was a breeze... just park it in the Hertz area, walk in, and hand them the receipt with the new mileage on it. Getting my final receipt took less than one minute. We had a Kia, and the only bummer was that it didn't have cruise control... that made a 200+ mile drive feel a little longer, but oh well. The car was fine overall. read more

Worst experience ever. Rented a car. Tires were awful. Had an hour into the drive the tire burst was about the have an accident. Tried to reach Hertz the number on the key takes you to a general message. When you get a response they tell you we have no customer service on the weekend. Hertz rental car where we have grumpy unfriendly employees who appear to be hell bent on not helping you. Don't go to or patron this location. Poor poor poor customer service. The reservation agents spoke to us in a way that was condescending and laden with attitude. Their employees obviously do not enjoy their job and it shows, please do everyone a favor and find another line of work for you are not cut out for customer service work. Made reservations way back in October with Thrifty through AAA, was I surprised to arrive the airport and Thrifty had closed shop, Enterprise would rent me a car at double the cost Thrifty had quoted. The booth stated closed and in tiny letters, go to Hertz counter, we did and the staff were so kind and honored the AAA contract. Had to pay $10 more for a 4 wheel drive but in the ice and snow it was so worth it, grateful that the 5 hour drive to West Yellowstone did not encounter anymore grizzlie surprises. read more

I had a car reserved and when I went to pick it up, I was informed it was rented to someone else because I wasn't there right when they opened at 7am. I had planned to pick it up early afternoon and was never informed I had to be there waiting when they opened to get the car I reserved. To make things worse there were zero vehicles available which put me in a huge bind. Really horrible policy. read more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED (this review pertains to this location and the original rented location)- upon renting my car (in Billings) I was in an emergency situation and needed the car quickly. I was greeted with a "Yeah?" and an annoyed attitude as if i had bothered them in some way. Then, I was given the car with some hesitation. When I went to the lot, I was given a compact suv when I reserved and PAID for (my card was charged $332+ $200 debut hold) a midsize suv (which there was four parked right next to it). As I said, I was in the middle of an emergency so I had no time to go back in and argue. When I got to my destination, the car started to have mechanical and electrical issues. I immediately called customer service and they refused to help me saying that I had to return the unsafe car in either Montana (where I originally rented), Wyoming, or Idaho. I was no where near any of those states. I called Billings rental center and they couldn't help me either. I finally called the "Gold" line and was helped. She instructed me to take the car to McCarran airport to trade the car. She had already spoken to them and explained the situation with my rental ID and all my info. They said they would "definitely be able to help" me. This included having the proper rental for me. I arrived at McCarran and was put through the loop again. They rudely stated I couldn't return there and if I was insistent on it, I'd have to continue on in a compact suv and continue to pay the mid size suv prices and someone would eventually help me. After about 45 min, a manager came down and gave me the suv hesitantly. And I was shooed away stating that if anything happened to the car (mechanical or cosmetic) I would be 100% liable for it no matter what. I had a long drive ahead of me and that wasn't settling. I took the car, drove it back to Billings. Upon returning it, I was told the licensing could not be processed til later that day when a manager came in and as soon as the manager did, I would be emailed a receipt. The entire day passes. No email. No phone call. I call. I was told the manager on duty didn't have the authority to do returns so I'd have to wait til Monday (two days later) for it to be processed. Monday comes. No phone call. No email. I call and manager says they haven't gotten around to it. Fine. Tuesday morning comes, I get a voicemail saying that I never returned the car and I needed to call back ASAP and let them know when I planned to return it. That sent me into a panic. I call back frantically and they tell me it was a "miscommunication error." I still received no email with final close out. I call back later in the afternoon and request a receipt. One is FINALLY emailed to me with what exactly my card was charged for. Today (6 days after my return) my bank account is charged and sends me into an overdraft situation. Now, because of the poor and lack of communication, I am in a financial bind that I should have NEVER been put through with your rental car company. I'm extremely disappointed in this company and how much stress, anxiety, and unnecessary loops I've been put through when you all have come highly recommended by coworkers, friends and family. I tried to reach out to customer service to mend the problem with no avail, and I have STILL YET TO BE COMPENSATED FOR ANYTHING! i.e. the two days I was paying for a larger, more expensive car than what I was given, etc. read more

My husband and I rented a car for a week in Billings, MT and had a great experience. When we checked in they placed a hold on our account in the amount of $200 as most rental car companies do. We asked how long the hold would be on our account and they said no more than 3-5 business days after we returned the car. It has not been 8 days and that money is no where to be found. When we called the first time, we were told sometimes banks take longer to process holds. Banking with a military bank, we have a reliable bank. They said they had no record of the hold being released. When we called back a second time, the lady Stephanie at the desk assured us it was being processed. It has now been over a week and half, no management has called us or responded after calling five times and not getting a manger. No desk staff have left a note, no one has a record of us calling and $200 is mysteriously missing from our account. Great deal at first but when they steal $200 from you the price of rental is pretty high. Management is not concerned, desk workers are apathetic and I wouldn't recommend this company. We will post again if our money is ever refunded. Maybe this review will be seen by management and someone will address this concern. There are many other rental companies in Billings, we recommend going with one of them. read more

Let me begin by saying the gal at the counter couldn't have been more helpful or polite. She's a 10+ Now as to the company policy, well that's another thing. I needed a car for one day. The advertised rate was $26 per day base rate. With airport tax it went up another $27.88 then there was another $40 per day in insurance fees. An additional driver was $13 per day. I was also charged $19 for using 54 miles worth of gas. Total was $168.30 for the day. High but not too awful. Still, it's a far cry from the advertised $26 per day. I checked out the car at 00:02 hrs on the 4th and returned it at 04:48 hours on the 5th. Total 28 hrs and 46 min. No one was at the desk and the airport was closed when I returned the car. They billed me another $104 for an extra day! I was robbed. No mention of this in any of the information I received at the initial booking or when I picked up the car. I wound up spending $310.47 for the rental. That stinks. read more
