I've rented from them twice now and have loved the low rental prices, affordable insurance add-ons and ease of getting a car. Unlike some other companies which claim to have cheap prices, East Coast Rentals stands by its online price and there are no other hidden extras. You can choose to risk it and rent a car as is (without any additional insurance) or you can add on just to have peace of mind. The website details all the information about the additional insurance so you know exactly what you're paying for. The staff are friendly, work efficiently and can also best advise you which option is best if you need additional info about insurance premiums. The cars are clean, new and reliable. And since the office is in the city itself, it's really convenient getting to and from the office.

The customer service at this particular Thrifty outlet was definitely the friendliest I've ever received. Everything was sorted when I got there and I was ready to drive away within a few minutes. It was a freezing morning, so they even pulled it up and left the heater going to warm it up for me. I hired it overnight but was told if I didn't make it back before they closed the next day, I could bring it back the next morning at no cost. I've had prior experiences at other rental places where they threaten you will all kinds of charges, these guys just seemed to be a little more human! The car was immaculately clean although unfortunately had that very old 'a smoker has been here' smell to it. Not their fault though, people that smoke in hire cars are jerks. Add to this that I got velocity points for my booking and it was $20 cheaper per day than the other option, I will definitely hire from here again.

Got a late model Ford Focus, clean and fresh and the deal was so easy. Just walked across the road and 5 minutes later was zipping down the freeway. After a day's driving around Melbourne it only cost $11 to refill the tank.

Ever since I move to Melbourne, I've been a firm believer in rental cars because I don't want the…read moreproblems and baggage associated with owning a car. From regular servicing to maintenance to insurance to fast depreciation levels. So for the last year, car rental companies have been a friend of mine. Rent a bomb in Richmond is one of my favourites because they are flexible and the prices are normally cheaper than elsewhere. You have the option of renting an older car (maximum age is 10 years) or a new car. If you're only going to be driving in the metropolitan area, they'll advise you to take an older car (which is much cheaper) but if you want to drive in greater Victoria, you'll have to take a new car. The standard insurance comes with an excess of $1750 which is much less than most places that have premium of $3000 in case you get into an accident and there is also the option to lower this. The service is really good and the guys are very helpful and generally happy to help.

Now whenever we need a car for the day, weekend or even a few weeks we always go to Rent a Bomb in Richmond. Mind you, we never get a 'bomb' so to speak. We always get a modern car with everything we need like Bluetooth, steering control, air bags etc. We always feel extremely safe in the cars we hire. The pricing is extremely reasonable too. A $400 deposit is required and for 3 days we usually pay around $126 which I think is great as it is the same as 2 return V Line tickets to country Victoria. I highly recommend Richmond Rent a Bomb which is now located in Bridge Street. We have been coming back for over a year now so the staff know us and a super friendly.
