Wish I could give zero stars. This was an unmitigated disaster. My father died and we had to fly into Joplin for his funeral. We were arriving in Joplin after midnight and got an Uber to our hotel. My husband, a Gold Hertz member, had called this location (not at the airport) over a month in advance to reserve a car. This location was a few blocks from where we were staying. We took an Uber the day of our arrival (after getting sleep). Showed up to pick up the car, they claimed that they didn't have a reservation but somehow had my husband's information. Then the young woman yelled to someone in a back room "Do we have any cars?" WTH? Then they claimed that they would not rent a car to anyone who lived outside of 30 miles from Joplin. We live in Colorado. They demanded we produce a physical bill , electric bill, water bill, to confirm who we were. Doesn't everyone carry their bills with them when they travel? When my husband had called several weeks ago he had specifically asked if we picked up the car there, could we return it to the airport. He was told yes. Nope, had to return it there and we were flying out on a Sunday. You guessed it, they aren't open on Sunday. The left hand literally didn't know what the right hand was doing. We aren't novices, we have traveled all over the USA and even international. We exclusively rent through Hertz. We finally said we were leaving. We had had enough. Had to Uber and figure out other transportation. This place is a joke. read more
