They authorized just over $1000 on my credit card, despite not having a car available to rent me.
I paid for a car rental in advance in order to get a preferred rate. The morning of the car rental I get the email below stating they did not have a car available for me. So they cancelled the reservation. Yet, they failed to refund my credit card. Phone calls to their customer service yielded no results. When I finally emailed nachfrafe@europcar.com, I am told I will get a refund once the car is returned. They didn't even acknowledge that the car rental transaction never took place and was cancelled by them.
Poor business. Look elsewhere when you rent a car. But if you do have to rent a car from them, don't pay in advance to get a lower rate. Chances are the car will not be available and you will have to fight them to get your money back.
