It's got plenty of room for dogs and kids. There were actually two large areas for you to let your dog run. One was a little larger than the other so many one is for smaller dogs and the other for large dogs? I'm not sure. There was no one there. Except a lady walking the loop by herself. The area is totally shaded so will be perfect in the hot summer. The parking lot is large so no street parking needed. The wide concrete entrance to the park is painting with tons of children's games. Makes me wish I had little ones again. There are lots of okay structures for the children. And there are lots of benches. I'm excited to go back!

There is an area for small/med dogs and also an area for med/large dogs. As with all dog parks, rules and special cautions should be followed without being told by another owner. Such as clean up after your dog (trash and pick-up bags provided). If your dog is aggressive, keep them on a leash. Take responsibility for your dog's actions and act quickly. Most of the dogs just like to play and sniff around. The ones I saw were all friendly and liked interacting with people over other dogs. There are benches for people sitting, not dog sitting. Although the dogs do like to sometimes hide under the bench.

Today, there was a woman with 2 Pitt Bulls. Yes, I've heard the usual, "but they're such nice dogs at home" crap. Well, today I almost left minus my Doodle. Within about 5 seconds of entering the park the Pitts were on him like a Great White on an injured walrus... They had him on the ground with one having a full clench on his throat. And no, this was not rough play. I've seen that and am OK with it. This was 2 Pitt Bulls jointly trying to murder my dog. My poor dog was screaming like someone was chopping his limbs off. And where was the Owner, relaxing on the bench while I intervened to save my dog. I ended up having to jump in the middle of the fray (very ill advised) and pick up my Doodle (all 54 lbs) up to my shoulders to keep them from killing him. I never imagined such a thing. It was an old fashioned wild dog feeding frenzy. The more he screamed, the more they went after him. Honestly, I am quite surprised they didn't go after me when I went to his rescue, but all I could think of was saving my puppy. Needless to say, there are no rules for dog breeds, etc. at dog parks; and there should be. Also, there should be dog number limits as well. Bringing not one, but 2 Pitts, who live together and in this case, hunt together, is just a recipe for disaster. So, it you go to this park, just know that there are SOME DOG OWNERS AND DOGS THAT SHOULD NOT BE THERE. Go at your own risk!

The walking trail is a loop design with a distance of 1/2 mile from the start of the loop, and then another 1/2 mile from the loop back to the start. There's not much shade during the walk, but the view of the lake is spectacular. Worth a visit.

I discovered Baldwin Park (BP) when I went to explore Tiedeman Park. I did not realize that they…read morewere two separate parks. On Washington and Atlantic Ave, you have Tiedeman Park, then there is the Palm Tree Lane (that's what I call it because I think it still remains unnamed) that spans about 3-4 street blocks that connects it to BP, which is what you will come to at the end of Palm Tree Lane. BP is the circle property on Atlantic Ave and E 41st Street. You can find parking around the circle area. There, you will find a square area with benches underneath some trees that provide a nice shady area. This is a great place to sit to read, take a break or watch your kids play in a gated playground. The playground has one baby swing, a regular swing and then a small structure equipped with a double slide and another longer slide and the other standard obstacles. The downside is the poor attempt at shading the structure. The playground must stay untouched during the summer months, because it is just too darn hot outside and lately, it's just too hot to be outside period! I would definitely bring my kids back here in the colder months, just for a change of scenery and I would never mind the view of Palm Tree Lane while they play!

I quickly parked on the street and google where exactly I was, and asked my soulmate (Yes, Yelp is my soulmate if you wonder!) how the park was. After looking around the area, I decided to wake up my kids in the back of the car and said "let's go play!". It was a chill Sunday afternoon that we were the only three people running and laughing in the whole park. Most of people passed by are either with their dogs or just took a slow walk to enjoy the nice weather. The size of the playground is pretty small with 2 swings and the few slides. Most important thing is they are all well maintained. Park itself is clean and neat. Maybe it can't compare with Forsyth Park. But I actually feel more comfortable and secure to stay in Baldwin Park. The neighborhoods walked through the park with their dogs, and my daughter was excited to give greeting to the doggies. Playground was separated by low metal fences that makes sure kids are not easy to walk away from the area. There are seating benched everywhere in the park, and they are all under the trees. I don't know how cool/ hot will be during typical Southern summer, but I am pretty sure I will let my kids to play in this park more often instead of going to Forsyth Park with the crowd. (I still love the atmosphere in Forsyth Park, but I prefer a slow path area for my kids to run around). Thanks City of Savannah built up such a nice neighbor park in the middle of the between downtown and midtown area. I am glad I find one more nice place to put in my pocket list for kids to spend their energy.
