Ambiance: 3/5 On the outside, I could see this large corner store in the Goldmont Center that I could clearly imagine catering to many customers. Once I stepped inside, the ambiance felt quite underwhelming. I did not expect to find a small bakery with some of the goods still stacked in some of the noticeable racks, and no tables. Another problem was the lack of labels in the glass counters. It does maintain its cleanliness though. Food: 5/5 I tried four cinnamon rugelachs, and I will say that it was my satisfactory introduction to rugelachs. It had a more cinnamon taste and less bread taste, which helps balances these pastries. The establishment served baskets of rugelach in the open, and I will say that even then, they did not become hard or stale. They retained their fluffy forms and their cinnamon tastes. The website provides some of the menu items, while the Yelp menu has all the options available to you, such as challah bread, danishes, cookies, cakes, and donuts. Service: 5/5 The owner did not have an issue with informing you if you looking for a particular pastry. Worth The Money?: 3/5 The food reflects the brand in all its simplicity, for you will find many Jewish delicacies in this establishment. While it would help Hershy's Bakery's website to show specific images of the food, if I am to believe the awards cataloged in the About Us page, then it would help develop its credibility if ownership updated the entire website. Indeed, the font and the images already on the website already add to its ambiance. I will say that the food does add to the ambiance of the bakery. I would recommend adding labels to the foods. The ambiance made both the wait time and service tolerable. Would I say that Hershy's Bakery is worth it as a small business? Yes. As a place to frequent despite not being from Lakewood Township? Probably not. I can only consider this establishment a choice if I was traveling through Lakewood and happened upon the Goldmont Center. I will say that the owner did balance my order on a weight scale, giving it a fair price. So, I cannot complain. Had an order delivered from here. Cinnamon flaky danish were anything but. Totally stale so hard you couldnt rip a piece off much less cut it also had a very odd taste. Rugalah was also stale and tasted off as well perhaps frozen at one time. Something g else we ordered didn't show up but was refunded and the black and white cookies were nicely wrapped but no one ate them as they were huge and way too much for one person also no description of that. I live right by this place and have often found myself curious to try it. I took a trip home to grab a few things I forgot on our way to the hospital (had a baby) and wanted to get something for the nurses at Ocean Medical Center (who were absolutely fantastic by the way) so I decided to go get some cookies. I got two boxes of the pre packaged raspberry jellies; one box with chocolate and sprinkles and the other dipped in chocolate. Price was totally reasonable because I am inclined to believe they do all the baking on premises and it smelled great in there. I also lived in Brooklyn for years and my mothers very good friend was Hasidim so I'm no stranger to their customs or their strict dedication to keeping those kind of food operations clean and orderly. The place was reminiscent of a small scale factory which was also an indication to me that they pump out some volume and that in turn suggests to me that they must be doing something right. I also got a few loose self serve rugelach and some of the same cookies I got for the ladies. I was extremely impressed and am likely to make that place my go to for those items and the sort. The cookies tasted extremely fresh and delicate. Even the filling was nice reminding me of a good quality raspberry preserve. The chocolate rugelach were really good as well and had a nice dark chocolate almost brownie-like flavor. They had a bunch of fresh baked breads that looked good too and I will certainly like to try them as well. I didn't do 5 stars because I didn't try everything and there wasn't an abundance of variety. What I will say though is that the items I did try were absolutely of 5 star quality. This bakery is a must if you are in Lakewood, New Jersey. My husband and I walked in and were swept away by the sweet scent of cinnamon, butter, and delicious pastries baking. How does one decide what to order when you stand in front of basket after basket, shelf after shelf, and a display case filled with freshly baked sweets? We decided on traditional rugelach and were surprised to find them anything but traditional! They were light, fluffy, and mouthwatering and not at all dry and flaky like the rugelach we are accustomed to! We also bought a gorgeous chocolate swirl cake to take to dinner at my in-laws and it was a huge hit! Not an easy feat from individuals who aren't easily impressed. Incredibly disappointing. Over priced, bad quality. Tried a vanilla cake, chocolate cake, and cinnamon bites. Nothing was labeled, service was bothered that I had to ask what everything was. Heimishe warmth & taste hand in hand. The staff is generous and genuine with their time trying to help you, don't interpret fast/quick as rude. I was in much need of a bat mitzvah cake, and 4:45 am not many places open. I thought possibly Walmart might have something out of desperation. Driving to check out and glanced over at Hersheys and saw a people inside. OMG I turned around & knocked on door. Greeted with a big smile as door opened I was asked what u veed? I said back from Monsey and forgot bat mitzvah cake, he interrupted saying he has what I want. He was right just what I wanted and tasted great. My wife at 5:30am saw I came home with cake box. She quickly wrote on box girlie stuff and our daughter was blown away. BTW the worker mentioned Thanksgiving morning usually came later but decided to just go on early for some reason.
