The day starts (early!), as AE sets up the balloon. It's really awesome, in the true sense of the word, to watch the balloon become your primary means of not smashing into the ground :) The ride itself was gorgeous-- the leaves were starting to change, and the peace and tranquility you feel up in the air is really impossible to describe. After the ride -- which included an expert landing in a farmer's field (!), we enjoyed a little party with the owner and his crew, courtesy of AE Balloon. I HIGHLY recommend AE Balloon for a safe and unforgettable day! On a customer service note: my husband purchased this ride for me (MANY!) years ago. The owner was gracious enough to extend us the courtesy of using the gift certificate, notwithstanding how old it was. That's customer service at its finest!

Mike is the proud owner, with 40 years of experience that show in every aspect of the ride. He takes the time to ask everybody their name, what their do for a living, etc. and then addresses you by name from then on, making it for a very warm welcoming feeling. He explains everything and has more anecdotes than you can possibly fit during the ride. We went in mid Fall and the colors were absolutely breathtaking! No pictures could possibly do it justice. Mike explains the sights and gives you background information on just about anything. His crew is also highly skilled, making it fascinating to watch them in action. My husband took me on a hot air balloon ride for our 16th anniversary. He worked directly with…read moreVince, the owner of Sky Riders, to organize the ride. We had a truly lovely time on the balloon ride. It felt very peaceful in the balloon, as if we were floating gently through the sky. We got to see such lovely landscape and even floated for a little while right above a forest canopy. The whole experience was magical. Things to Know: (1) Because the weather needs to be just right, be prepared to have to change dates quite a few times before actually having the ride--the owner is very careful about avoiding any potential dangers that could come with inclement weather (even on a mildly windy day). Because of this, he will call you the night before your scheduled ride to give you an update. We ended up having to reschedule 4 or 5 times and I will say, it was worth the wait, as our ride was perfect. (2) The owner and crew have riders meet them in the parking lot of the Limerick Diner. They do a balloon test there and use it to decide the field from which to take off. Then, the passengers hop into the truck with the owner and crew and ride to the field. There, you get to watch the crew set up and fill the balloon. This takes about 15-20 minutes. Similarly, when you land, you wait in the field while they empty the balloon and pack everything away. This will take another 20 or so minutes. Watching the process is very cool. (3) The ride itself runs between 45-90 minutes, depending on weather, wind, and other factors. You travel about 7-10 miles. (4) The company offers rides for 2 or 4 people. We rode in the basket for 2 (plus the pilot), which was really a cool experience. (5) As we prepared for the ride, many of our friends and neighbors kept telling us hot air balloons were "scary" and "dangerous." We found this not to be true. We felt very safe the whole time and Vince was clearly a very seasoned, safe, and thoughtful pilot. Our ride was very smooth and peaceful and we would do it again in a heartbeat.

There is a sofa and a reclining chair in the room as well as a desk and rolling desk chair, meaning there are plenty of options for relaxing in this spacious room. We loved the wet bar that is included in the room as well and the large windows. They offer a free breakfast that includes several options including made to order eggs. When in the area we always go out of our way to stay here.
