I wouldn't even give this company a one star. The absolute worst costumer service I have ever seen. I originally was booking for February to fly and they rescheduled me due to not wanting to fly in the cold. That's fine. I changed it to april; somehow, yet again couldn't fly. They blamed it on weather conditions yet it was not windy and a beautiful day. Changed it AGAIN from when I rebooked. They reached out so many times to reschedule my date. I realized after the multiple times of rebooking that since I did not book a private flight; the days that worked for my schedule, were days no one else was flying. I asked for a refund after 10 months of trying and was told they cannot refund me but can donate MY money to charity. I asked for the refund policy since it is not posted or established in an email from once the flight is booked and they stopped replying to me. They have read my messages, reached out to me SO many times about rebooking my flight for different days and emailed back and forth the whole time until i asked for a refund. Literally 11 years ago, my uncle promised me a hot air balloon flight. This year, it finally happened! I was 8 then, and 19 now. Of course, my scheduled flight was delayed once for bad weather, but when it finally came together a bit before Thanksgiving, it was so worth it. The views were incredible, and Barry (the pilot) even gave me gloves and let me lift the balloon into the air by pulling the level that spurts dragon-hot fire into the envelope! I was astounded at the horrible customer service this business provided to myself and my family. This is the first negative review I am writing any business on yelp at all. I am not sure whether or not he was the owner or a manager but I he was so rude that I was almost waiting to hear that I was on the show punked or boiling points and he would start laughing and tell me it was all just a joke. I bought a hot air balloon ride as a gift for the two of my parents to go together. My dad called at least 10 times over a period of about 3 weeks he was just calling to make the specific reservation and no one returned his numerous calls or messages. He finally got a hold of someone and tried to make the reservation and they told him that I had not paid. I had a voucher that I had given my parents that clearly stated I had paid for the two of them to go. I checked my credit card to be sure that I was charged and in fact I was. I called Air Ventures back myself to straighten things out, at this point thinking it was a misunderstanding and just wanting to make their reservation for them and have things go smoothly after this. I called pretty shortly after my father had spoken with the gentleman so when I started explaining the situation he said that he knew who I was and that I had not paid. At this point I was furious, I was embarrassed that I had given my family a gift they could not use and angry at the way the man felt it was appropriate to speak to someone especially a customer of his! I charged back my card and took a screen shot showing that the money was refunded from Air Ventures and emailed him to let him know that he was incorrect and that I had in fact paid. He never responded to my polite email. If you want to enjoy a hot air balloon ride I would definitely go with a different company, they will just cause you headache and hassle! read more

5 stars for our actual balloon ride - safe procedures, take off and landing by Barry who is clearly a pro with over 23 years of experience as a pilot. The 1 star off is for customer service - I was proactive and called alot but they are slow to return calls and use texts (one of which I never got). I had a terrific experience with Air Ventures. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and made it a very pleasant ride of us. We landed on a residential street and had a whole host of neighborhood children and their parents waiting for us. Needless to say, it was a very warm welcome! I would recommend hot air balloon riding and Air Ventures in particular to anyone looking for an "out of the box" sort of romantic experience. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because the ride had to be rescheduled several times, but to be fair this was due to inclement weather and in the interest of everyone's safety. Barry, the pilot, was entertaining and whole experience was great fun. Felt like we were on vacation. From learning about ballooning history, to sailing over Marsh Creek and close to tree line, to corny jokes, it all made for great fun. I was very upset that my booking was postponed twice, but the third time was a charm. The ride itself was fantastic. The pilot was great and gave us a good insight as to how hot air balloons work. We flew so close to the trees that you could almost touch them. When it came to landing time we ended up landing on someone else's yard with their permission (haha!) because that was where the wind was taking us. I can understand why lots of people gave negative reviews (due to the cancellations or postpoining from air ventures' side), but once you get up there you'll understand how important it is to monitor the wind and be smart about whether or not to fly. I would definitely recommend Air Ventures to anyone wanting to fly. Bottom line: the wait was worth it!!!! read more

As a number of others noted, we had to reschedule a couple of times before the weather was safe for a balloon ride. However, we understood that safety comes first and I wouldn't want to be in a balloon basket trying to take off or land in less than safe conditions. We were able to get our ride tonight and it was Great with a capital G! Barry and his ground crew were excellent in informing us about safety procedures before flight, making sure that we were entertained during the flight, and hosting the traditional champagne toast at the end of our trip. My girlfriend and I took this flight on August 4th. The sky was perfect, the balloon pilot was experienced and in control of everything. The entire experience was excellent. In order to get such a perfect day, Air Ventures had to reschedule the flight several times because of rainy or windy weather. But this has to be expected on hot Summer days. To do anything else would risk having a bad experience. So don't get upset if your flight has to be rescheduled -- the end result will be an awesome flight and a great memory. read more

The pilot, Blair Beard, was professional. He explained his career from start to finish as a balloon pilot. He answered questions along the way. The two young men who assisted were the best! They were volunteers & deserve to be tipped! Very polite and friendly. ( Liam & Steve I believe). It is a standing room only ride & you are close to everyone so it's a tight space. The ride was beautiful in the AM. Not once did I worry about my safety. Highly recommend these folks. The only negative thing was trying to get an appt. A hot a balloon flight for 4 persons was booked and confirmed with Air Ventures (booking done on March 25th) with scheduled flighted for March 30th: My correct telephone number with texting capability (my cell) was given at this time. THe company uses text messages to verify and give information for takeoff. THey text between 12:00pm and 12:45pm the day of the flight. We had relatives in town from Minneapolis who were greatly anticipating the flight. It was a beautiful spring day 59 degrees. On Saturday, the day of the flight, Air ventures FAILED to text me. They were also fully unresponsive to all contacts initiated by me that day. I called the office at 610-827-2138 12:56pm (no answer) again at 12:57pm leaving a voicemail with my number asking for immediate reply again at 2:08pm (no answer) I also emailed their company at 1:20pm that day asking for immediate reply. THe first response I received was at 11:00am on Monday morning by Rick. He claimed that it was too windy to fly that day (Weather Underground reported winds of 6mph, max wind of 12mph, gusts of 18mph). Admitted they had recorded my correct telephone number, but instead contacted an INCORRECT telephone number informing them of the cancellation. I asked for a refund, as they failed to respond to all my efforts on the day of the flight, and left me and my family hanging in limbo in terms of our days plans. Rick, the representative told me they were absolutely unwilling to offer any refund under any circumstances, even despite admitting to failure to contact me at the correct number. He suggested that I take the refund complain up with my credit card (for fraudulent charges, I suppose). For us too, this was the 2nd booking, as an earlier flight had been cancelled for weather. When attempting to contact to reschedule, they were also quite difficult. I called the 800 number on their website and left messages and emails that went unanswered for days. We had such a wonderful time! We've travelled around the world and love going on excursions and adventures. We chose this as a birthday surprise for our 8 yo son. He's had a tough year and we wanted to find something very special (and local) to do for him and our 11 yo daughter. The first scheduled flight did not happen because of weather. While we were disappointed, my husband is a helicopter pilot and we know that if the FAA is saying weather isn't right, there's no chance that we're going to try. "Better to be on the ground wishing you were up in the air than in the air wishing you were on the ground." The balloon is beautiful, real wicker basket and it was an unforgettable experience. We drove to the site with two other staffers who were personable and efficient. We helped set the balloon up and filled it with air. The ride, itself, was absolutely amazing and thoroughly enjoyable. We felt very safe in with Barry as our pilot. His 25+ yrs of experience are worth selecting this balloon ride company! We landed near an apartment complex and the neighborhood kids were so excited to see us and helped deflate and pack up the balloon. I'm not sure what I expected, but it far exceeded anything that my husband and I imagined. Great experience worth every penny! The only glitch was that we were running 20 min late (terrible evening traffic) and weren't able to reach out to the pilot directly. Don't bother booking and wasting your time. Even the 5 star reviews on here are from people who had to wait multiple times to fly, and they are in the minority. AirVentures does not communicate at all. I purchased a package as an anniversary gift for my girlfriend and I when I lived in southeast PA. I had 3 flights canceled in 2013, all 3 canceled after I had already driven out to the meeting spot (about 1.5 hrs away)d. I tried rescheduling in 2014, and was unable to reach them. I left 2 voicemails asking to reschedule and was not called back. I have been trying to call them now to get a refund, and I am not being answered, and my calls are not being returned. Seeing other reviews on here, I'm betting I won't be refunded. There is no place where they say they don't have refunds, and I am now out over 400 dollars. Save yourself time and aggravation and do something else. I really hope people read these negative reviews and heed them, this company is terrible. read more

Its now been 9 days since I first contacted Ace Ventures for a full refund. To reiterate, let me state my reasoning for my request for a full refund. On Sunday, October 22, 2017 I had called your company and expressed to the representative that I needed to propose that day and needed a hot air balloon. I expressed to the lady that I was looking for a private ride for 2 on a hot air balloon and she said it wouldn't be a problem. The lady had called me back and stated that she was not able to make that request happen but assured me that she found another balloon ride with just 2 passengers all the way out in Pennsylvania and explained that it was only 2 hours away. She had explained that it would be another couple that would help me video the entire event and although hesitant, I accepted. I paid top dollar for this balloon experience because I had wanted to make this a very memorable moment for my fiance. After driving 3 and half hours to the destination, we found out that the balloon ride was not with a couple but with 5 additional passengers. After driving such a long way, I was trying to make the best of the situation and decided I'll deal with this issue with you guys later, and just make the best of what was available at the time. Speaking to the pilot, I expressed my concern for the chilly weather and he stated that we do not need jackets up there as the fire would keep us warm. Cramming 7 of us into a balloon and lifting us up in the sky while the others were making crude jokes on my proposal event. When we got up on the balloon we noticed some black stuff all over our clothes. Apparently the tank blowing the fire was leaking a black substance all over our clothes. The proposal was extremely awkward as I didn't even have space to get down on my knee to propose. The landing was extremely bumpy and was in the middle of some forest. My fiance and I were stuck in an undisclosed place, where numerous lyft rides were called to pick us up and all had cancelled on us as we were not able to be picked up at that location (have numerous cancellation bills on my account as well). We were bit by multiple mosquitoes, and were forced to carry the balloon and carriage as close as possible to a bike alley (about a half mile). 3 and a half hours later, once someone had finally found us, we had to help put that balloon into a huge bag and put it onto some cart and then push it for a mile and a half to the truck all while freezing in this forest. You would think the nightmare would be over then, but no. The pilots decided to make us go back and then pick up the cart and drag that back to the van as well. All of this on the day of my proposal. We were exhausted, tired, angry, starving and freezing by the time we got back to our car, and had to drive an additional 3 and 1/2 hours back to NYC. Both my fiance and I had work the next morning and only had 5 hours of sleep. My fiance has gotten extremely sick and had to take Monday off to go in to the doctor and was prescribed antibiotics. After speaking to the owner of Ace Ventures, they had apologized sincerely and said they would be more than happy to issue a full refund. She said if I had any issues at all obtaining that full refund to please have you contact her directly. I'm honestly not interested in free tickets or dealing with your company ever again. I do not appreciate being lied to. This was supposed to be a very memorable occasion. It turned into the biggest nightmare I cant even imagine going any worse. Of course later on the owner REFUSED th refund and is pushing down these stupid balloon vouchers down my throat. Please issue a FULL refund asap like promised. read more

My wife and I had an awesome time. I purchased the tickets last year for our anniversary and after canceling a few times due to very windy weather, better safe than sorry. They were good about getting back to me within 24 hrs or so. I held off for the winter and forgot I had the vouchers. I called to find out if they were good almost a year later and was told it would be no problem. So I set up a day and it worked out well. We received a text message as told for the time and meeting place. We were picked up, taken to the launch spot, help inflate the balloon and up we went. Our pilot Barry was a good time, great personality. We also lucked out with the other passengers. Another couple and a father-son team. Really nice people. We met at 6:15 in the morning for a sunrise flight. Perfect day and great group of people. We landed in the middle of a residential street in the middle of a development between houses and trees. A balloon flight is exciting, but having a pilot like Barry who is a great story teller, funny and entertaining made it an exceptionally memorable flight. Made the trip numerous times over the past 5 years... still haven't flown. They refuse to return money, offer anything in return, or even try to work with you. this "company" is a total rip off. Here is how it works, they have you meet in a shady parking lot and get into a sketchy looking van that drives you to some random field... then they cancel the flight. every. single. time. no weather issues and no flight. On top of that, Emily, who I guess is the customer service rep.. She is plain rude and ignorant. if there is someone who should never be in contact with customers... its this woman, you really have to hate your own life to be that mean. I rarely write reviews but felt compelled in this case because our experience with Air Ventures was totally the opposite of some of the negative reviews I've read on Yelp. We just returned home from our wonderful balloon ride and can't speak more highly about our experience. To those who complained about cancellations or no refunds, we had four previous flights canceled/postponed before today's trip. It's not Air Ventures fault that flights are canceled. As we understand it, the FAA determines whether or not it is safe to go. Those complainers would probably be the first to also complain if the flight had gone and then needed to be cut short because of bad weather conditions moving into the area. While it was frustrating to have those cancellations, the folks at Air Ventures could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. We were notified by text well in advance each time and asked to make a call to make a new reservation. And yes, your payment is not refundable, but we were told this up front BEFORE we booked it. Perhaps those complaining were not paying attention! After the fourth postponement, Rick, from Air Ventures, asked if we would be willing to do a dawn flight instead of our preferred sunset ride. We decided that given the weather is more unsettled in the evening this time of year, we decided to go at dawn. As for the flight itself, we were asked to help the crew, Lisa and Chris, with the inflation at the beginning, and the packing up at the end. We thought it added to the whole experience and it was certainly more fun than standing around with arms folded just watching the balloon inflate. Even with helping, we had plenty of time to take pictures before lift-off. Everything about the trip was explained to us before lift-off. Once up in the air, our pilot, Mike from the UK, gave us a little history about hot air ballooning and answered all of our questions. The views were spectacular and the ride smooth. We have fantastic pictures of the rolling countryside with the morning dew rising. We were airborne for just a little over an hour. Mike landed us perfectly in an open field. Shortly after we got home, Rick called us to make sure we were pleased with the morning flight. (Good customer relations.) I have to say that I was surprised at all the bad reviews for Air Ventures. I had a completely different experience with them. I thought their communication was quick, efficient and polite, and I dealt with them ... 1. In person when I bought a gift certificate as a Christmas gift, 2. Via email and then phone to book my flight, and 3. By text to confirm that the flight was "a go". We were lucky that the weather cooperated on our first try. It's completely weather dependent, of course! If it's too windy it isn't safe, even if it is a beautiful and sunny day. Anyway, we had a fantastic morning and a wonderful experience. Barry was a top-notch pilot who obviously knew what he was doing. My wife, my daughters and I all felt completely safe. Barry took us on a great ride, pointed out places of interest and other landmarks, spun the ballon so we could get a panoramic view, took us down low and touched the treetops, told loads of stories and landed us perfectly and safely. An all-around great experience that was topped off with a champagne toast - as tradition dictates. I wish I could give this company zero stars. My best friend and I who rarely get to see each other booked a hot air balloon ride while staying at a nearby B&B. I completely agree with the other post on here that this company uses deceptive business practices and has terrible customer service. My friend and I woke up at 5:45 a.m. and drove 30-40 minutes from the B&B, on a bright, beautiful, sunny day. When we arrived at the destination, the pilots launched the helium balloon utilized to determine safe flying conditions, and within about 20 minutes deemed as unsafe to fly. I do want to qualify the review by stating my friend and I had no problems with the pilots who were completely respectful and whom I believe had our best interests at heart. However, I find it completely deplorable that this company chooses to be affiliated with a B&B, which obviously caters to OUT OF TOWN guests who are obviously only able to do a flight within very limited time parameters. When my friend called the company to explain we were out of town patrons with young children at home, who can't take trips often--she was treated disrespectfully and rudely by the owner of the company. I completely agree with the poster above--that we are not idiots and we understand that a non-refundable deposit helps a small company insure that they don't fall prey to multiple cancellations at the last minute. However, a DEPOSIT is completely different than a full payment. The owner would not budge and basically retained our 400.00 (yes, these trips are expensive) even though we did not fly. I equate this as basically stealing from customers who are never explained this ridiculous policy. We were told to just keep booking (even though weather conditions are variable and we could never be ensured a flight) which is completely unreasonable. This company is the WORST company ever to deal with. I have been trying since 2012 to schedule my balloon ride. This was purchased as a Valentines day gift which turned out to be no gift at all but a nightmare. I must have tried schedule 3 times to schedule in 2012, 3 times in 2013 and now 3 times 2014. After this weekend of cancellations by them, I was beyond angry. This company only communicates through text messages to confirm appointments. I had an reservation for last Saturday, August 23rd and they sent me a message cancelling at 10:30pm and then I rescheduled for Saturday, August 30th and AGAIN cancelled by them. Saturday was beautiful out, 85 degrees, sunny and hot, no winds. They cancelled my morning flight at 9:30pm on Friday night through text because of wind (that was BS) when I checked the weather and then the guy text me asking if I want the evening flight since someone cancelled. I said yes just to get this balloon ride over with and guess what? CANCELLED AGAIN. I communicated through text at 10am confirming I can go and we had to meet at 5:15pm in PA. Keep in mind, I'm from NY and have to drive there on a holiday weekend with traffic. I left at 1pm from NY to get a head start and wanted to be early. I was told by 2pm I would get a confirmation of the meeting spot..3pm comes and I still got no text message from the guy. I text the guy and he said he text me letting me know the flight was cancelled AGAIN due to wind at 1:45pm. I could not believe how much of a HORRIBLE COMPANY this is. The guy never sent me text. He sent a text to a number that wasn't mine. End result, I told the guy I wasted my time, money on tolls and gas due to his horrible lack of communication and he did not even apologize and told me nothing can be changed. Let me start off by saying we had an absolutely mortifying, degrading, and appalling experience and will most certainly never return to the CC Balloon Festival, sponsored by an absolutely INCOMPETENT and unprofessional hot air balloon company entitled "Air Ventures". We had family members from way out of town travel in to PA (from Boston and Tennessee mind you) so we were all able to experience this together. Not only that, but a close family member was in consistent communication with one of the owners of the balloon company to ensure that as a family, we'd all be able to fly together. She went as far as to get all of our combined weights and report that through text to the owner, just to be told that we were more than safe and the basket would definitely accommodate our combined weight of 7 people. When we arrived to the festival, we had some time to kill (5 hours) so we ventured around and had a decently okay time, up until about 5:30 when the balloons were supposed to take off. It was getting windy, so we were told the pilots were having a briefing to discuss if it was safe to fly and how the times may be pushed back. In turn, as we had been there all day, that was a bit of a disappointment, but nothing treacherous compared to what we would later be dealing with. At around 6:15, we were approached by a disgruntled woman, Debbie (owner of the balloon company and person whom of which our family member was in CONSISTENT contact with for weeks prior). She took one look at one of our family members, and proceeded to say how he, verbatim, "was just too big". Soon after, she took a look at my boyfriend who happened to be sitting, and in the most condescending, belittling, and absent minded manner asked him to stand up so she could assess his body weight. She then went on to ramble about how those two boys were too heavy (and managed to repeat herself about 5 times because what's self awareness, right?) and how she "probably could do it, but why put 10 years of wear and tear on my equipment". Keep in mind, this woman had all our combined weights for weeks prior to this festival AND approved it, but decided to approach us after standing around in the blistering sun for 5+ hours, after spending a boat load of money at random vendors/food trucks, to completely embarrass and ridicule the family for a good 15 minutes. We had explained to her how she seemed to ascertain more than once, prior to the festival, that we were more than safe for this balloon ride. However, she continued to shut us down with the excuse that she couldn't accommodate the two boys' weight. The unfathomable irrationality of approving our combined numbers, but then taking a physical look at each individual and dismissing us was enraging to say the least. So, $1800 later, we weren't able to ride in the balloon and left in a state of complete and utter humiliation. We were promised a refund but that we are still waiting for. The lack of professionalism and self awareness was absolutely, without a doubt the most NAUSEATING thing I have ever witnessed and we will never return or recommend that anyone go through this garbage company if they want to go on a hot air balloon ride. read more

Unbelievably fun evening. From take off to touchdown, prep and pack up, this was the adventure of a lifetime. It was so fun to see our area from a Birdseye view. Our pilot Barry was fun but professional and made us feel safe at all times. His crew were great and even took pictures of us and shared afterwards during out champagne post flight toast. Highly recommend. Just be patient as weather has to be perfect and it took us a few times of rescheduling. read more

Had to cancel several times on account of the weather. Would not want to go up on bad or less then perfect weather and miss the views. Barry was a great host and made the ride entertaining as well as informative. The views were breath taking and well worth the wait. Perfect landing. This was an awesome experience. We booked a flight with Air Ventures Hot Air Balloon Flights in Glenmoore PA on June 25, 2013 for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a blast! Beautiful morning at 5:30am when we gathered in the field for the morning flight. The 6 of us riders got to help the crew a little in preparing the balloon. Our pilot was excellent. He made good decisions, made it look simple, was skilled in every aspect that I noticed, including the gentle landing on little tarred road. He was also an interesting fellow, having piloted balloons in many countries around the world. Above the trees the ride was mostly silent, except for a dog or two. The bald eagle was taking its time. At the ride's end, we were offered a little champagne....just a little, I might add, because it was still only 8:30am! The process of making the reservations, getting good directions all worked smoothly. The two-person just-post-college crew were competent and generous, one of them walking a ways to get our car and bring it over to where we gathered at the end. BEWARE!! If there is any limit to the amount of time you have with which to book this flight, Air Ventures will happily defraud you by repeatedly canceling your flights or fail to have any available openings - until you run out of time. Then they keep the money. ALL OF IT. That's what happened to me. Once they have your money, they make zero to minimal effort to make your flight happen because why should they? They have no intention of ever refunding your money under any circumstances, because they have a No Refund policy, and you might, like I did, still purchase a flight in good faith that they will fulfill the service. In my case, I told them I had about a month to schedule a successful flight before I would be leaving the area. They cancelled twice, on account of the weather, of course.. The first time was a breezy day. The second time seemed to be a perfect day. No matter - not for me to question the flying conditions. However, after trying to reschedule a couple more open dates, which I was told were 'already taken', I finally ran out of time, and this company refused to issue a refund for the $400 I paid in full for the Flight That Never Happened. Moreover, when I did demand a refund, they (Rick) were incredibly rude and obnoxious, and even told me that they did in fact provide me a service - by keeping me safe by canceling my flight. What a perfect business model. I have never been so thoroughly fleeced by a business as this one. What should have been a happy, carefree afternoon and a great memory has turned into a major headache and the image of a hot air ballon makes me cringe now. I can keep you safe AND happy FOR FREE - just take my advice - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AIR VENTURES!!!! read more
