Moved in to a new house 3 mos ago and former owners had Harrington's. They were satisfied so we set up service with them also. Arranged for new service in our name and had them cancel service in former owners name (which they supposedly did). Received a bill in former owners name. Called Harrington's and told them. They said just pay the bill and they would change everything in their system (which they were supposed to have already done) and credit our account. Paid the bill in full for 3 mos service, changing info. on the bill to my name. A couple weeks later got a bill in my name for 3 mos. service. Paid that bill in full. Called Harrington's to let them know there was still a problem with billing. They apologized and said they'd take care of it in their system. Got a bill 1st week in November in the former owners name with a past due balance. Tried several times calling Harrington's but either got a constant busy signal or a recording saying they were unavailable and to call back another time but I don't have the time to keep calling back. On our last scheduled pick up day, put the trash and recycle bins to the street for pick up. When I returned home in the afternoon the trash bin was missing, recycle bin still there. Called Harrington's on that afternoon (Wed.) and asked if they picked up bin. Was told they shouldn't have but they would check and contact me shortly. I asked for a new dumpster to be delivered the next day as we needed one for trash, no matter the reason it was missing. Harrington's never called back that day. I had to call back the next day (Thurs) only to find out they did pick up the bin because of the past due balance for the former owners. It didn't matter that we were paid ahead for 6 mos of service. Was told the dumpster would be delivered that day (Thurs) as we were on their delivery list but at the latest it would be delivered Monday. Surprise, surprise, no dumpster delivery. Of course when I called back on Friday they were closed. Don't know how they stay in business with their accounting practices. They're extremely nice to talk to on the phone and promise to take care of everything but their service is terrible. I'm an extremely dissatisfied customer! UPDATE: Within minutes of posting this review, I received a phone call from Sandy Harrington. She wanted to rectify any problems I've had to ensure my satisfaction with the company. She arranged to have a dumpster delivered that night (well after business hours) and it was . She also made a follow up phone call the following Monday morning to let me know she looked through my account and the former owner's to determine why our dumpster was inadvertently collected. She said the only thing she could figure out was maybe it was for another address on our street and ours was mistakenly collected. She apologized for the oversight and told me to be sure to call her personally if I ever had any questions or concerns about our account/service; customer satisfaction is important to her and their company. I appreciate their willingness to take care of the problems. Would have given more stars had the problems not taken place. read more

Very poor communication within their business. I had called to put my service on hold because I leave for the winter and asked for the final bill, the man on the phone gave me a price of 19.00 They never completed the stop service and kept billing me. Once I discovered the error the lady I spoke with was very rude and insisted I pay. I obviously wasn't going to do to their poor in house communication. I just called them and figured I would give them another chance and guess what they said they wouldn't service my address. That's what kind of idiots they are. Blame you for their mistakes. Very poor, poor service. Did not pick up my recycle bin but did pick up my trash bin. They said I had taken the "recycle' sticker off that bin. I did not. It came off months ago due to empting it. It is also much smaller than the trash bin. He said his drivers can open bins to see which is which. they have picked up both contains for months and sticker was off. I told them to give me a new sticker or a new bin with sticker on. I was in business for 50 years and never have seen a business treat a good customer like this. I recommend you not use them. was told a price for trash pickup for the year of 192 dollars. when we received our bill it is now 228 dollars a year. this is a bunch of bullshit!!! changing prices and dont even supply us a container. and they maks messes and leave them. worst trash company ever. read more

Last 2 times they haven't picked up all of the recycling and just today they decided to come at 6:15am (without any prior notice) when I bring my cans out every morning at 7am for the last 3 years. We now have well over a month's worth of recycling we need to deal with ourselves. When I called to see what my options were the lady I spoke with was dismissive and refused to work with me to help resolve the issue or even understand my perspective. When I requested to speak with a supervisor because of her inability to help with other options I was told outright no. Never had that happen before... In the end I was hung up on abruptly, when I called back I was ignored 3 times, and their voicemail is full so no chance of speaking to anyone who may be able to help. We moved into our house 2.5 months ago. I called Herrington's prior to that and they delivered nice, new trash and recycle cans within a few days. The guy I spoke with was very kind and professional. Since then, we have received excellent service. Pickup always occurs early Monday morning and the waste cans are always put back in the same place-no cans ever blocking the driveway. Had an issue with trash/recycling not picked up for a month. I finally called amd the lady who picked up was rude. She essentially blamed me for not having my bins out early enough. Once I told her I typically put them out the night before, she still blamed me and (as of she goes on the runs with the driver) defended him saying my bins were never out. I suppose he gives her a status update everyday on peoples bins? Then she tried to justify it saying they were short staffed...so my trash doesn't get picked up for a fucking month? I had to pay to take it to the place they normally take it myself. Haven't had an issue with them since (hence the 3 stars) and I still use them as I am too lazy to switch, but I have read similar reviews about them after the fact. read more

Negative Rating for Poor administrative / customer service. We've used Herrington for 20+ years and give 4 stars for that time. Only switching because Friday pickup no longer works for us. I called, emailed AND sent a note with the final payment that our last Pickup date would be Friday, April 27. At 4pm it was still at the curb, so I called; they closed at noon. I sent another email, hauled garbage and yard cart back into garage. Monday they replied they would get it this Friday. Four days later we hauled it all back to the curb. Yard waste picked up, but not their cart. We finally made other arrangements for the garbage disposal, which we paid Herrington to do. read more
