Headed up to Camp Harrison for the YMCA Women's Wellness Weekend with a group of my favorite gals and had an absolutely wonderful time. It was only 1.5 hours from Charlotte and everything exceeded my expectations - from the staff, to the gorgeous facility and food, to the sheer amount of activities offered.
The staff went above and beyond in every aspect. They were helpful whenever we had questions and were friendly and high-energy throughout the entire weekend. The kitchen staff did a wonderful job in preparing the meals and kept snacks and the food stocked the entire time.
The facility was top-notch. I'm talking ridiculously clean and well kept, both inside the buildings and out. Each bunkhouse has 18 beds, three bathrooms and three showers, all of which were immaculate. And the views are just gorgeous! Tip for those who are light sleepers - bring ear plugs - there is a bit of noise at night with all those people sleeping in the same room.
Camp Harrison offered a ton of activities; I participated in the sunrise yoga, hike to the overlook (which was quite strenuous but totally worth it for the view), zipline, climbing wall, Jacob's ladder, and zumba. They also offered bootcamp, sunrise hike to a waterfall, horse back riding, and a night time feeding of the animals (goats, horses and an alpaca). And if you just needed to relax a bit, there are a ton of places to take time for yourself.
This particular weekend was focused on having a positive attitude and believing in yourself, and I think Camp Harrison did the best job in making sure everyone had a good time. I highly recommend this camp for corporate retreats, a woman's weekend, or to send the kids to for some fun in a safe, outdoor facility with knowledgeable staff. read more
