Ikura Japan is a lovely little sushi filled secret! Located on Bridge Street, just off the Pacific…read moreHighway between Gordon and Pymble stations. Fully licensed and BYO. They also offer catering and take-away. I haven't been here for dinner, but come for lunch at least once a week and have never had a complaint. They always have a nice selection of fresh, ready-made sushi boxes at the front counter, usually priced between $ 8 - 10. The rest of the lunch menu has decent variety too (except for sushi rolls - these are pretty limited). I definitely recommend the teriyaki salmon steak bento box. For only $15.50 you get a nice sized piece of salmon, 3 pieces of tempura, a small salad, rice, miso soup, and 2 pieces of sushi. Yum!

I've just found this Japanese restaurant and it's only a few streets away from where I live…read more Located in an business area I wasn't expecting too much from it. Well, how pleasantly surprised I was to find it is superb. Started with mixed sashimi, beautifuly presented on a slate, very fresh. The teriyaki salmon bento box was wonderful with so many little delicacies. My John dory with scalaps and a home made tartar sauce was out of this world. There is a small but adequate wine and beer list and sake of course. The service is warm and friendly with a very pleasant ambience. For a Japanese restaurant the price is quite reasonable. We will be back soon.

This is definitely not a sushi train. More like a sushi Shinkansen. The speed of the sushi…read morecarrying conveyer belt is faster than at any other sushi train I've seen. If you're like me and need a few seconds to decide if that's the plate you'd like then by the time you make the decision the plate is already long gone. On the positive side though it doesn't take long for the plate to come back around if it hasn't been snatched up along the way. We went on a Saturday night which you would typically associate as the peak time of operation for restaurants but yet they were out of 75% of their non sushi menu. Limited udon to choose from. No ramen. No rice bowls. Much disappointment. Sticking to the sushi I thought it was quite good. Everything tasted fresh and the saucy ones had good flavour to them. Selection wise I thought it was a bit limited when compared to other sushi train places. Their hand rolls could do with some better flavours similar to what they have at makoto. So maybe it's that we eat a lot but I think it's more the prices but for two we spent about $60 and were full but not like we were stuffed. So a bit on the expensive side for something as simple as sushi. Thank goodness for the entertainment card!

For lovers of Japanese foods, there is probably a Sushi Bay near you. Their food is always fresh,…read moreyou can see them making it in front of you. Originally known as Sushi Train, they have improved the menu and the way the food is served. They now serve udon soup so you don't have to eat raw fish if you don't like it. The only problem is that now, in Castle Hill at least, they get so busy its sometimes hard to find a seat. Fortunately Japanese sushi doesn't take long to eat, so if you're prepared to wait around someone will soon leave. They also make great platters for parties.
