Herls renovated my master bathroom with a new shower stall, vanity, counter and floor. All of the work and materials were of high quality. The finished bathroom is beautiful. After the work was done, the shower started leaking into the ceiling below. Upon further examination, tearing some sheetrock out etc, the issue was a surprising hole in the drain plumbing. There had never been leaking before but the hole looked like it had been there awhile. No matter, Herl's repaired it. They went above and beyond and it was a tremendous help to me to get it fixed even though it was hard, if not impossible to link it to Herls work. Back in 2019 we spent over $9000 to replace the shower in our master bathroom. Fast forward to the end of 2022. Because of their poor workmanship, over the years water has gotten into the bench that Herls installed during the remodel and a horrible smell has engulfed the bathroom. When I contacted Herls for some help, I was told that they would not do anything for me because they had sold their business to North Shore and that I should contact them for relief. I contacted North Shore but they told me that Because Herls was the one that installed the shower, it was their responsibility to fix the problem. I ended up tearing the bench out myself so that I could get rid of the awful smell. Yes, I did what Herl's should have done, but would not. I chose Herls because I had thought that they were a pretty good company. I guess I was wrong. read more

Be careful with there lending & zero interest loans on bathrooms. If not paid on time interest is a whopping 20% . That's loan shark lending practices. They don't share information up front . Find a different company with fair pricing. They should be ashamed! read more

After explaining to the receptionist what our situation was she apparently responded as if she were on another planet. I had to ask her to read the text again. She Continued to ask off the wall questions. A real jerk. Forwarded our information to operations I'm guessing who called latter. I explained that all we wanted was a ball park price for a walk-in shower for our brain injured sister who could not take visitors. Didn't matter they insisted on coming to a home that could not receive visitors at that time after saying they had been in the business and started with Modular homes. Surprise they couldn't do an estimate. It's unlikely that I'll ever do business with such heartless, inept people. I could not recommend based on that initial experience. I will never be prepared to take a chance with these people. read more

We had Herl's complete a bathroom remodel in January 2019. They removed a giant 1990s bath tub and replaced it with a 72" X 44" beautiful tile shower, raised the existing vanity to, the current standard height of 34", Installed new plumbing and plumbing and plumbing fixtures, relocated and installed new electrical fixtures. They were able to complete this entire job in 7 working days. Here is the way they work: They work in teams. First, a demolition team (1 day), second, a preparation team (1 day), third, a tile team (4 days), fourth, a plumbing and electrical team (1 day). The teams were very professional. They arrived about 7 AM and worked until about 6 PM. They cleaned up every day, before they left. We are very pleased with their work and the finished product is excellent. We have recommended Herl's to a number of our neighbors. read more

Buyer beware**** i contacted herl's bath and tile about a new surround and tub in my older mobile home. i also inquired about getting a faucet on the bathroom sink replaced. these jokers came out and gave me a estimate. $7.503.00! that's right over 7k for one surround, one tub, and ONE faucet. no tile, no gold faucet, no heated toilet seat. needless to say they didn't get the job. don't call these jokers unless you are willing to pay 3 times what the job is worth. read more

Out of curiosity for an estimate I filled out basic info without a direct link to this company, so I had never heard of them before. They must have called and left about 100 voicemails within a week almost to the point of harassment. If I don't return your call after a couple of attempts then it obviously isn't that important to me to warrant multiple calls daily. Then they sent someone out and he was very personable and respectful. However the estimate to replace one bathtub and fixtures was over 10k. Not for a complete renovation, just the tub. I don't know how much time most people spend in the shower but for me, I don't spend that much time in it to justify spending that kind of money for the privilege. read more

Great install and product but they lack service after the sale.Had walk in shower installed with glass shower doors,one of the doors had a mark on it so installer noted to have it replaced,finally after several call it was replaced but the replacement was warped so they had to get a 3rd one.Since then I had to have them back to adjust doors,out of alignment.Now another company has taken them over and I am still trying to get shower door adjusted,4 calls and no return call yet. read more

Had them come out for an estimate to convert our bath tub to a walk in shower. The rep was very nice but when it came to the estimate it want south from there. I received 3 estimates, one good for a year, one good for 30 days, and one good if I signed today. It felt like a timeshare pitch. I then asked for the estimate in writing. Well they do not give out written estimates. Terrible business practices. I would not trust them. Go elsewhere. read more

Had a very expensive total remodel of our bath. Took longer than expected , however, a few years later we noticed a problem with caulk coming away from the vanity and two cracked tiles. On tech came out and re caulked with a clear caulk and not the same original color. We had to wait a month for the tile man to come out who did a terrible job. (they only have one tile repair man). They forgot the adhesive the first day and had to come back. They cut away some of the bottom of the vanity and did not replace the wood properly and butted it against some grout showing exposed wood. Now we find that they did not re grout/caulk the edge of the floor. What next? read more

We're mostly not happy. We contracted with Herl's back in March to do a master bathroom remodel. Work started in early June (took a while to get parts in). It's now mid-August and there are still a long list of issues. The design engineer was great (John). He was very helpful in getting matches on the tiles, tops, wood and so on. The overall design is terrific. The two most significant issues are that the faucet for the whirlpool tub was leaking badly and that the vanity top was cut incorrectly. Someone came to fix the faucet, but the water valves still leak. We're waiting on a new vanity top and it's been nearly a month on that. But there are a host of other issues that, though minor, we would have expected to have been fixed by now. Things like cabinet knobs out of alignment, the two sinks are slightly different colors, the toilet runs for a few seconds for no apparent reason, the shower door hits one of the towel hangers, some of the floor tiles are not level and the corners poke up a bit. And other things. We're not new to home-improvement contract work; there are always problems that need to be rectified. But significantly to us, we feel that finishing this work is not a priority - that we're scheduled between other jobs. It's very frustrating. This project has run on too long. We can't fully move back in until at least the counter top is done. read more

Great experience with sales guy. Went south from there. I had to call them 3 times on when they were coming to install shower, once the scheduled they never showed. Called 15 minutes before they were to be at my house saying car trouble??? Not profesional one bit. Showed up next day shower bottom looked like a garbage home job. It's been 1 month still no shower doors installed I've called twice still waiting. I do not recommend unless you like hearing excuses of why your shower gas not been completed. read more

I am not impressed with Herl's ability to perform work in a reasonable amount of time and with their customer service, especially after the work (and payment) had been completed. It took them 5 weeks to renovate a 5x8 condo bathroom. When I first used the glass shower enclosure - it leaked - quite a bit. The first call to the Service Department assured me someone would come to fix the problem. On the date promised for repair, no one showed up and calls to Herl's were never returned. Our entire process was smooth from start to finish. Herl's did a great job of answering all of our questions and in providing us with an in-home estimate (with good COVID-19 precautions). They made the financing part easy as well and with favorable terms. Today was the install of our new shower and it went great as well. I just saw a You Tube video on how to caulk a bathroom shower enclosure for a professional finish...." Must use good quality caulking and technique to avoid mold and mildew to form". "Must insure no gaps between shower door frame and floor to avoid water entry into the wooden floor base". 6 weeks after installation mildew started growing in the wall-floor shower joint, all around!!! There are also gaps between the floor metal trim and the tile, from inappropriate caulking. Damage to wall at electrical box switch location during installation of marble top for double sink was very sloppily covered with spackle, not finished. Will require hiring someone else for repair of this damage. I should have read the comments in this website before selecting this company for a very expensive job not well done!! read more

Trey arrived on time and was very courteous and went right to work. He repaired a vinyl trim piece on a slider door that we thought was not repairable and it looked great. Next stop was the batHroom tub. New construction left the tub with several scratches and some deeper grooved damaged. He buffed out what he could until a plumber can pull the faucet and Trey will be back to complete the job. He even cleaned up thoroughly!!! That's the only reason for the 4 stars which was not his fault. Probably upgrade to 5 stars when job is completed read more

I'm in the second week of my 2.5 baths remodel. For the 2 full baths, I'm getting 2 tubs/wall systems, 2 toilets (American Standard champion pro), 2 shower heads, tiles and 2 sink faucets (not replacing vanity), wall painted. For the powder room, I'm getting toilet replaced (American Standard Vormax), wainscoting and wall painted, not replacing vanity or flooring. Note: I would recommend doing a little homework on how much toilets, tubs, shower heads, etc of the same type typically cost before signing the contract. Our salesman said the Vormax was around $900. The good: Our sales guy (Rick) was friendly and courteous. Office receptionist is also polite and courteous. The not-so-good:They send different guys to do different parts of the job (acrylic tub/wall vs tiling vs toilet installation vs painting are done by different people). I prefer to have the same people do all the work so there's not different people coming through the house over the 2-week period. It also helps to avoid one guy from saying the previous one didn't do the prior task correctly. As other reviewers mentioned, not all the supplies came in by the time the project started, but so far, we are still on track with the 2-week schedule though it seems like a long time for the project scope. I also noticed the communication issues that other reviewers noted that could use improvement and reduce the confusion/stress. All in all, it's pretty average (not horrible, not fabulous) so far. I recently (as a female) embarked on re-doing a bathroom in my home, and took advantage of my husband being in Houston, Texas on a 6 month contract job, to execute this task. You see, my husband asked that I re-do the bathroom, while he is away, as it is impossible for him to do his job (in our home) while construction is going on. As such, Herl's promptly told me that unless my husband was apart of the decision making process, they could not help me. I gave them his phone number (to get permission that his wifey could do this project), and was told that it was not good enough. They requested his presence and permission. Wow! Does Herl's know this is almost 2020???? Wake up! As a female, I don't need permission from anyone.....I do have a mind of my own. Can you say....SEXIST ORGANIZATION!! read more

This company was recommended to us by a friend and also had a good reputation via word of mouth. Maybe something happened to this company recently which has caused it to be the worst experience I have ever had working with a contractor. We were told before the work started that it would take 5-7 days to complete the job - it took 5 weeks! The reason it took 5 weeks was because they didn't show up for days at a time - and also ran out of materials. An experienced tile layer should have known in advance when he was doing the job that there wasn't going to be enough materials...but, no...he waited until he actually ran out before informing his company that additional materials were needed. This resulted in about a week delay. During this delay, we had a chance to scrutinize their work - and found that it was most definitely sub par and there were issues that needed to be addressed. Their "production manager" came out to look at the issues and saw very little wrong with it - either because he didn't want to admit it or he doesn't know what a good tile job should look like. I had to argue with him and point out the issues before he grudgingly agreed to have part of the job redone. I had to request that another worker redo the job as I felt the same person could very well redo the job with the same issues. Was told twice that the owner of the company would come out and look at the job - he never showed AND never called. They finally finished the job - and a quality job it is NOT. They came in and finished it up...using colored caulk to fill in where the grout was not up to par. It does not exactly match and looks horrible. They also were supposed to install 3 grab bars per the contract - only 2 were installed and yet they sent us an invoice with 3 grab bars on it. No one ever came out to verify that the work had been done in accordance with the contract - or they would have known about the missing grab bar. The whole experience was so horrible and they were so rude that we just couldn't even bring ourselves to call them about the work not being done according to the contract and have to argue with them and suffer through their total lack of customer service. Bottom line: Total lack of customer service and rude to their customers (who are they doing work for????), VERY expensive - not in any way worth the money, shoddy workmanship, management has no clue what their workers are doing in the field - and don't seem to care either, perfect example of how NOT to run a business. I guess you could say I don't have even one good thing to say about this company.If you want to learn about how NOT to run a business, deal with them...you'll learn plenty! read more

One star is way too high for this group of unprofessional yahoos. (Yet Yelp leaves me no choice) Was introduced to this business at the spring 2014 Ocean City Home and Garden show. Gave them contact info as we had just moved to the area and were in need of bath/kitchen redos. A representative called me every couple of months since and I explained the house needed foundation work first and would contact them when ready to proceed. So far so good. Finally Ready I placed a call which was received by "Alex." An appointment for an estimate was arranged all while his manners were spot on....until the very end of our call. When he asked me to "do him a favor and remind my husband about the appointment!" WT...? Just for the record. I'm a 52 y/o woman who has been married over a quarter of a century and NO ONE tells this (supposedly) mindless wifey what to say or do! BTW Alex, I own the house and I would be signing the check that your company will NEVER see. Now on to the next day, Vicky, (presumably the only female employee that could talk some sense into me!) tells me "I am one in 1000" of their clients who needs to be told what to do and whom to inform. Really?? How special that makes me and what idiots that makes the other 999 of their female customers. Absolutely the worst remodeling experience ever! It took 105 days for them to finish because they had to rip out my bathroom tile 3 times due to poor workmanship! Not to mention we had to hire a dry waller after it was "complete" to fix our drywall in our bathroom! Poor communication and managed poorly. If it weren't for other contractors and some handy neighbors, it still would not be finished! Terrible experience! read more

We recently had two bathroom tubs/showers remodeled, and were thrilled with the end results. We had two wonderful technicians, Dan and Mike, who were hard-working, knowledgeable, polite, and friendly. They addressed our questions and concerns, and finished the job on time even though they ran into a couple of challenges with ants and plumbing. We thought that the overall cost was a bit high, but are very happy with the quality of workmanship. read more

Consult done on Nov 13, with the expectation of the install some time in January. Called around the end of January with an install date of Jan 12. Received a call stating that the tub would have to be smaller due to the placement of a vent in the bathroom. I agreed but making a mental note that measurements and pictures were taken. My husband then realized we were getting a plane tub and asked for some type of design. New contract signed on December 7 give or take a day or two. We were told that payment would not start until after the install around end of February or the beginning of March. First payment due January 7 which is clearly before the install. Day one which is today. Arrived on time which is a good start. Then tub one which I was told had to be smaller did not line up and could not be used. Tub two which was larger but plain and white not gray that was ordered. When I complained about the tub not having a design was told either to wait two weeks or the company would cut me a check for 200 dollars for the difference. The problem Herl's has an A rating on angies list and two a commercial on tv. I thought double win for me. I come home from work to fine an area with nothing. This job was supposed to be one to two days and now I am told it could be up to 1-3 days to complete not including day one. My furnace and ac unit done by a company with an A rating on angies list no problems. My roof done by a company with an A rating on angies list no problem. The price was higher than I wanted to pay however I did not have any problems before and expected to have no problems this time. I am just not happy with the service or the price. Would never recommend this company to my worst enemy. Horrible customer service, very unprofessional, you know you are being lied to over and over with excuses. They over promise and under deliver. A five week remodel turned into over ten weeks! Referred them to my parents before our job began because we were impressed with our sales person, but turns out they are all talk and no satisfaction. My parents experience is even worse than ours. They are still fighting to get their remodel job completed correctly. They have no idea how to plan and run a project, and their workers are pulled all over the east coast with no respect for them or the customer. We were fortunate and had very good workmanship during our remodel, but my parents did not. They had to send in the guy that did our tile because the tile guy that did their work was horrible and they were afraid to leave the house when he was there. I went into the showroom during their 20% off promo about a bathroom remodel. They set an appt for an appraiser to come out and explained there would be a second follow up appt with cost estimates.. But then they pryed into public records to see who else owned the house. They should not need to do that....that is nervy. Now they will not come for appt unless all homeowners are present. I already don't trust them....and wonder if it was a man who made the appt would the response be the same?? read more

The price was fair, the scheduled appointment time was met and their technician, Tre, was clean, courteous and most thorough. We just currently had Herl's Bath and Tile remodel our master bathroom. The office staff were very friendly, helpful and provided a great amount of patience with picking tile and my design. Herl's met with me on several occasions, and offered expertise in helping me design a custom bathroom to fit our family's needs. The pricing was very reasonable and the whole process was very smooth and done within the time frame that I had requested. I would definitely use Greg and his crew again, to remodel tile, a bathroom or any other remodeling that we may need. read more
