We are renovating a plantation home and ordered two subway mosaics from Heritage for our bathroom floors. They are beautiful! Excellent work and customer service. When our tile guy came up short they were on it same day and sent out more tile within a week. Could not recommend this company more if you are looking for quality craftsmanship with old world charm.

The title on my (tiny!) bathroom floor is from Heritage. Wall tile is from elsewhere.

I walked into Heritage Tile 8.5 months pregnant--and driven by a sudden, oddly urgent desire to remodel the bathroom in my mid-century home. With a tight, two-week timeline for delivery, the staff helped me choose a pattern for our floor, which was immediately put into production after we put down our deposit. We received our custom order on time to complete the remodel (thankfully before we had the baby!) and I am SO pleased with the quality and appearance of the tile. It really makes the room and the pattern and colors aren't available anywhere else. (Especially not in only two weeks.) The cost was on the high end of our budget, but I'm more than happy to pay for quality and unparalleled service.

After reviewing the scope of the project, it was estimated that it would take a week and a half to complete. Not only did it take over a month to eventually complete, the days that the team would work were unpredictable. On several occasions, as the team would leave for the day, they would tell us they will be back tomorrow, and then not show up. Or, they wouldn't be able to tell us when they would come next, and would surprise us a few days later. They ended up needing to complete this project after I had delivered my baby (original timeline would've been completed weeks prior to my due date). Additionally, we noticed there were a few design decisions that were made without consulting us, like the drywall of the shower/re-installation of the water gauge (it's now not flush with the wall and very loose) and the selection of tile at the base of the shower that doesn't match the floor. He had offered to come fix the water gauge, but after coming to look at the issue, he has not gotten back to us in 5 weeks. I had high hopes for this project, and while it still looks nice, the lack of communication made it really difficult to want to recommend Peter or use his team again for future projects.

The 3rd quoted was from Tom of Oak Design and it was $35,000 and I was responsible for purchasing all materials (in addition to the $35,000). Wow, you can imagine I was at a loss. When I exchanged emails asking for clarification, Tom explained "We are a larger firm with a larger overhead." We've remodeled several homes in Chicago, Fort Meyers and The Woodlands, TX and we used licensed, Bonded, Insured larger firms and we've never had such a discrepancy in bids. I didn't even know this parking and the additional shops were here. But since we parked here so I could wander a shop nearby, I saw this one as I was wrapping up my stroll. It looked like a home decor/interior decorating sort of store, which I love since I like to look at beautiful things and imagine how lovely my home could be if it wasn't a cluttered mess. It's kind of a hodgepodge of stuff, from gourmet food items to jewelry to photo frames and other decor. I found bailene brand sea salt, so I picked some up since I can't seem to find this brand in stores any longer. They also had a few different brands of fleur de sel, which I considered getting but held off since I'm trying to avoid extra things at the moment as I prepare to pack up a house. They had vinegar de Banyuls, which I like and have purchased before and would have if I could remember what I used it for but again am avoiding unnecessary items to pack. I was welcomed shortly after entering the store but not pressured or anything. As I wandered with both a shopping basket and three month old in my arms, one the employees said she was happy to help me shop since I had my hands full; though I didn't need the help, I appreciated her offer. And something that's kind of cool is that they offer glasses of wine for purchase as you shop! Nice touch in this classy joint. I'd definitely shop here again. They had some really beautiful things (I've filed them away for when I need a photo frame). They carry seasonal items as well, so I would love to visit once Halloween has passed to see what they carry for the winter holidays.

We had looked into three or four design firms and went with Design Inside because we got along well with Abigail from the initial consultation. She's friendly and had suggestions from our first meetings. Our remodeling scope was pretty basic (resurface hardwood floors, install new tiling, new lighting, new kitchen countertops/backsplash/hardware, painting, etc.) We weren't planning on taking down any walls or putting up new walls - hence "pretty basic" in our eyes! The initial few weeks involved back and forth with designs and occasional meetings with Abigail so she could get a handle on what we wanted done. Abigail was accommodating with meeting/phone times, and would often meet with us late afternoons or early evening. She created designs we had never thought of doing (enclosing in structural poles, wainscoting, etc). Abigail also was able to easily "read" my husband and I in terms of color schemes and we ended up choosing one of the first few samples of tiling and backsplash that she dropped off with us. Kudos for that! Abigail also provided us bimonthly hours summary / detail so we knew how much we were being charged for her services. She would break down the time she spent working for us by the minute and it was helpful to see where our dollars were being spent. From a "grand overall design", Abigail did a good job, but when we started getting into the details in the later phases, we did run into a few minor issues. I recommend ordering all materials / furniture / art yourself and not going thru Design Inside. With a little work on the intranet, you can find it cheaper, not to mention a lower delivery charge. We had a few material mix-ups with Design Inside - i.e. we received the wrong hardware; not enough tile or grout was ordered. Abigail's measurements for the den were incorrect so she didn't order enough tile / grout - her measurements for the wallpaper were also off, but this time we almost ordered too much. The invoice system used by Design Inside is a little confusing and you should pay very close attention and track your own expenses. It's hard to describe but trying to track all the bills and refunds with the invoices provided was difficult. Overall - I would recommend Design Inside and Abigail for your remodeling needs. I would just offer a bit of advice to double check measurements and order your own materials, but would still recommend the company. Abigail provided different designs and options that demonstrated her design skills as well as her ability to connect with us in terms of what our goal of the remodel was. In our eyes, that was key.

One of the most enjoyable experiences in working with Katy was the ability for me to add my own personal touches along the way. She really adapts to her clients in terms of how involved they would like to be. For me, I had lots of ideas that Katy helped me bring to life, streamline and balance. And she also encouraged me to take chances with paint colors, fabric upholstery choices and more. My gallery wall is one of my favorites! I could never have measured and hung with such precision. And my reupholstered hallway bench is one of my favorite stand-out pieces. Thanks Katy! I love Katy's design eye, easy-to-work with attitude and desire to put her client's style into every choice.
