Because, hey, you love my burger reviews, you're surely gonna get some use out of what I have to say about my latest surgical experience, right? Well, here I am reviewing my surgeon and his staff. I gotta say, these guys were awesome. I had no idea going into it what I was in for, other than my general practitioner saying, "Whoa, I gotta send you to a surgeon for that!". If "it" is bad enough that your doctor says that, you better hope he's using more than Yelp to make his decision. Thankfully, he was using his years of experience and relationship with North Kansas City Hospital to decide to send me to NLSA. Dr. Bruce Gehrke was my surgeon, and within 5 minutes of checking out my condition, had me discussing dates for surgery with his awesome staff. Dr. Gehrke is one of those doctors with the "comedy bedside manner" so while he was very informative as to what was happening, he explained with humor and heart, as well. His staff spent all the time I needed to be as prepared as possible, always talking to me considerately without any condescension, and understanding that these were conversations that needed care and clarity. So, I scheduled my surgery for April Fool's Day. They thought that was funny, too. And the surgery went off without a hitch. Dr. Gehrke and his staff (as well as everyone at the hospital) were really awesome, I couldn't ask for a better experience...except if I weren't to have it at all, of course. Considering that, they made the best of the situation for me, making sure I was cared for, informed, and given a good laugh in the process. I'm guessing my procedure was a success, because the thing that was there and needed to come out now seems to be gone. I totally appreciated how I was treated by both the surgical staff and everyone at the North Kansas City Hospital, as well. And this all just ain't the Vicodin talkin'....

I was extremely disappointed with the service I received from KC Vascular and General Surgery. My…read moreprimary care physician had noticed a substantial bulge in my groin area during a checkup and confirmed it was a hernia. He recommended I contact Kansas Vascular and General Surgery to schedule an operation to address the hernia. On my first visit to KC Vascular the Dr. I was referred to felt the same bulge and said oh yeah that is a hernia let's schedule you for surgery and turned me over to his admin team to schedule the surgery which I did. Several weeks later I received an invoice for that visit in the amount of $70.00. I immediately contacted the billing office to ask why I was being charged $70.00 to simply tell me I had a hernia when my Dr. had already told me I had a hernia and just needed to schedule surgery. The agreed that seemed odd they would charge me for that and indicated she put a note in to the local office to call me to review the charges and contact me if valid. The next call I received was from MediCredit. They not only did not respond to my inquiry on the bill they just sent me right to collections which now impacts your credit. If your Dr tells you that you have a hernia, do not schedule an appointment for the surgeon to simply confirm it as they will charge you for that. As if healthcare and insurance for healthcare and the surgury itself aren't enough of an expense already, now I am being harassed by collections to pay another $70.00 to simply confirm what my Dr sent me in there for. As opposed to discussing the charges with me and validating them, KC Vascular just sent me right to collections. I do not think that is an appropriate way to treat a patient and do not recommend seing them as a result of my experience ttying to discuss a charge, only to be sent immediately to collections impacting my credit. I think this is a terrible way to treat a customer/patient.

I saw Dr. Dyck a few years ago and he put my rib back in it's place. I left Kc area and had a…read moreproblem with my rib in another city so the new doctor contacted Dyck for information on how to adjust my rib. Dyck would not give any information on how to help me!!! So my rib is still out of place and I've been in pain for over a year. I later got a bill for $150, called them to take care of it, thinking that was why he wouldn't help me, but when I called to pay they said I owed over $400. Even though the bill says $150. This man is very unprofessional. He doesn't care about his patients health or well being or I wouldn't have been treated like this. I was also on Medicaid at the time and shouldn't have any bill. If you want a doctor that plays games then this is a great office. If you want someone that actually wants to help your pain and suffering then look elsewhere.
