20 hours ago New Heritage oaks is already subpar compared to other courses in the area and today I was lucky enough to have an interaction with the course marshal. My sister and I were at the greens and we went past the white signs off to the side in the rough (still 30 yards from the putting green) we were in the wrong but it was an honest mistake we thought as long you stayed 30 yards it was okay. He was so rude and degrading. He talked to us like we had never played golf in our lives which I'm assuming is because we are two young women. He was tapping the rules and told us to read it three times as we were sitting in the cart. I was honestly in shock at how hateful and disrespectful he was. On top of that why is he acting like the course doesn't look like this? read more

Went there to watch our son in a Virginia High School regional qualifier match. Staff was unprofessional and downright rude when asked about spectator carts. This happened on three separate occasions during our visit. It certainly didn't seem as though we were welcome. read more

Whether your a local golfer or just someone in the area looking to get in a round do yourself a favor and play this course! The fairways and greens were in great condition. The front nine is pretty wide open, and the fairways start to narrow with trees on the back nine. This course is not too long or difficult but can be challenging on the back nine with errant tee shots. Even knowing I wasnt local and may not be back again, David (course pro) and Phil (marshall) treated me like i was a frequent golfer at their course. Very professional and friendly staff all around. BYOBHD. Bring your own beer and hot dogs, clubhouse doesn't have either. Bring extra balls too, that tall grass will get you.

I've been playing here for years and every year this course continues to get worse. Horrendous pace of play. Course sends groups out every five minutes regardless of group size and with no control. Unless you enjoy play 6-7 hour rounds I would not recommend this course. Very disappointed with the staffs professionalism and ability to run a half decent course. I would much rather play one of the other quality courses in the area. read more

Been playing here for years but this year the course is in the best condition its ever been in. The staff is friendly, conditions are good, and Dave Johns manages it all extremely well. It is simply the best kept and run course in the area. read more

The Greens are a little slow, however the course is very well maintained. The people that work here are very nice and welcoming. There course is mostly made up of Par 4's. The price is right for the place. All in all its a very nice course. read more

Wow. Are you guys Pebble Beach? The attitude alone from the stuck up wench at the front desk was enough to turn us off. But then forcing our threesome to play with some random dude because, *exasperated sigh*, "we're just too busy guys" made us drive elsewhere. Way to pass up $140 bucks, jackholes. read more

I held a season pass at Heritage Oaks for about a year and a half. The course continues to grow in nicely and the staff has always been very accommodating. The course is very "walkable" and the greens have gotten steadily better over the past year. I look forward to visiting Heritage when I travel back into town to visit family. read more

Tell you what....as a municipal course this really is as good as it gets. Inexpensive, but surprisingly top notch course conditions noted on my first visit this past Saturday. Tee to greens, including sand traps, all excellent, and this after a hot summer which has left other more expensive courses wanting. The layout is....fine. Can't say there are any particularly memorable holes with the dramatic elevation changes common in Central VA courses. There was, though, good variety and maybe other golfers will be more excited than I was with the layout. Went around twice, with a ten stroke improvement between rounds so clearly there is enough variance between holes to reward knowledge of the layout. Par 70, and it does play short overall. I normally play the whites but here I moved back to the blacks and it worked out about right for me. Even the small pro shop scored a plus in my book, when I forgot my golf shoes and found at least a half dozen choices in size 13. Can't get that in much larger sporting goods stores. My only regret is that it is so far from my home in Charlottesville. Give it a try; I can't imagine anyone saying they didn't get more than expected for their money. read more

If you want a 5 hour round (and our foursome was behind a twosome, ranger was no help getting them to play faster or let us through), this is the place to play. Front desk Kelly needs a new job not dealing with the public. We played a couple of times this week and she was rude and acted like she was doing us a favor to let us play both times. read more

Love Heritage Oaks. Beautiful course with lots of wildlife (deer, rabbits, geese, humming birds and more). Course is walkable (if so desired) with back 9 in the woods. Friendly helpful staff, can't wait to hit the course again. read more

This was my first golf experience. I went with my brother in law who was teaching me. These people were stuck up, and not nice at all. They kept following is out on the course to quote rules to us. They left other players alone from what we could tell. The singled us out, maybe because we were from out of town. The older man with the beard was insulting and rude. We left without finishing even a quarter of our game, because the way things were going, they weren't going to stop harassing us. read more

The people at this place made a potential good game turn ugly fast. We were a group of four, all paid in advance. They kept coming on golf carts to tell us things we did wrong. We drove through the T Box... (Totally didn't). We didn't let people play through... (We let a group go shortly before they told us that), we played the wrong hole (because the sign to the 5th hole was missing). We stopped at the 5th hole, because some old guy cam and yelled at me in front of my twelve year old for cutting people game. Told him we didn't see the signs, and he cut us off repeatedly. He told us our next mistake would get us thrown off the course. So we packed up before hole 6, and left! I filed a complaint online. When I stopped by the pro shop to ask why the old guy though he had a right to be rude to me in front of my daughter, he simply said he didn't... Despite 3 of us witnessing. This place is a dismal failure of a golf course. They are rude and nasty. Go somewhere else at all cost! read more
