Living in the city it was nice to make a mini trek to the pool for something different. I've been known to swing by when home for visits as well. It wasn't nearly as crowded as I expected it to be-there was lots of space to spread out. I was also impressed with how clean everything was. The snack bar had lots of tasty and affordable options.

It is huge and accommodates many activities and games within its parameters without bothering anyone. There are nice areas for the toddlers, pre-teen and exciting slides and games for the older kids and adults. The table area outside of the restaurant is very nice for a family or a couple to sit and eat or just have good ole conversation. It can also be a great place to take a reprieve from the sun. As a whole I have found most people to be very friendly and helpful. In matter of fact, I am disabled and have problems walking a distance with my cane.....sometimes parking can be really far away and I have found myself in past years just turning around and leaving. But......this year the owner saw me hobbling down the hill and stopped in his golf cart and told me to call anytime for him or someone to come and pick me up if I find myself in that situation again. I am sure that in the future I will take him up on his helpful offer so I can enjoy the fun within the gates of Pine Cove Swim Club. There are great pavilions to use for parties and get togethers and Pine Cove also offers extra activities on certain days for adults and children. I only have one negative thing to say about the grassy area where you place your blanket or chair - most of the area is on a steeper slope and finding a comfortable way to sit on your towel without toppling down the hill is a challenge. This also makes it hard to sit in a chair without sliding down, Minor excavation could help that. To solve this I try to get there early to get a lounge on the flat cement area by the pool, but these are few and hard to get. Another plus is being able to take your chair or inner tube and keeping it on the fence at the pool so you do not have to carry it back and forth all season. My opinion is I will be buying a pass to Pine Cove until I can not walk to get inside.....then I may come in a wheel chair. LOL. Isabelle S.

However, it's since been renovated and repaired (2023ish) and is now an inform public swimming pool. The pool is closed during the summer months. Since the reopening of the pool, it's become a popular spot in fall and winter months. I love having a swim here. There's just so much history to the building and the pool. It's extremely clean and well-maintained. There's open swimming, lap swimming, aquatic programs (water aerobics, lessons, etc.). A true South Side gem.

My kids are losing their ability to retain skills over the winter and with the amount we pay in property taxes it seems unfair to them and all families that we have continued to wait.

The pool is located inside West Penn Park and follows the same guidelines as all city pools. (ie $5 daily admission for residents). It can get busy but never as crowded as other pools. I've been there at times when there was maybe only ten other people. It's smaller but still large enough for getting cooled off, lap or open swims. It's definitely a local, in-the-know vibe. Very clean. Super chill.

I'm a Borough resident and grateful to live within close walking distance of this pool…read more For a couple years it was under construction, taking a bit longer than expected and reopening to great anticipation. Now here we are, and it's hard to be disappointed with such a gorgeous pool, but there are a couple of misses here. The good: There are graduated entries throughout as opposed to the stairs that used to serve as the entry points. The deep end has two waterslides, a climbing wall and a low diving board. The baby pool has beautiful shade covers that I wish had been there when I was growing up in Baldwin-Whitehall. There are fun little splash features in the middle of the pool. The bad: I would be disingenuous if I didn't say I was disappointed about how they redesigned the deep end. The additions of the slides and climbing wall are largely for kids/teens, and came at the expense of the lap lanes for which I largely use the pool. Lap lanes still exist, but just four of them, and they are always filled by people who grab one and stay for a long time. When the pool was first reopening there was talk that these would be by reservation, and I can't imagine how that would have worked either. So now I just generally swim around the main expanse of the pool, which is fine and slightly heated, especially wonderful if a day is otherwise not quite warm enough to be swimming. Finally there is the snack bar, which didn't open at all this year. There used to be a great, large snack bar down the little hill near the parking lot, and that's gone now in favor of a smaller one at one of the entrances. The little ritual of grabbing an ice cream bar or similar a couple times a year is fun for me and a lot of families, I'm sure, and is very much missed.

Facilities are well-kept, and it's a fun way to get out and meet new people. You can either bring your own drinks and snacks, or you can purchase food from the "Shark Shack" - it's not good for you, but it sure tastes good! They also have live music on Fridays, when the pool stays open until 10pm. Looks like we have ourselves a new Summer tradition!!!

A nice walkway surrounding the whole park area for you and your dogs. Also a nice sized pavilion for large groups available to rent for special occasions and outdoor gatherings. Sufficient parking available. At the other side of the park are three courts. A basketball court, a tennis court and a volleyball court , something not often seen. Seating area surrounding the ball fields are somewhat limited bleacher seats so bringing chairs is a good idea. Clean indoor restrooms located near the ball fields. Nice park to enjoy little league games during spring and summer and early fall. Enjoy outdoor activities with the whole family. PLAY BALL!!
