The pathways are clean and the park itself is spaced out well. I believe the distance around each of the lakes is at least one mile. They also have pavilions, some wooded areas, jungle gyms, and a skate park. Their restrooms are also always clean. This is definitely a nice park to check out for walking or a family reunion and anything in between!

You can fish, walk, jog, hang, take your dog, rent pavilions or the newer enclosed building, get family photos done, utilize the expansion area with an amazing playground, skate park and dog park. There's really something for everyone and we're so lucky to have it in our area.

Different classes and team sports are sponsored and tailored for different age groups. The cost is fairly minimal Pickle ball, zumba, soccer, yoga are just a few. There are picnic pavilions available for rent. I have attended several graduation parties and one wedding at Hempfield Park. There is a paved walking track that one can use also. My latest visit was to attend a Senior Expo sponsored by our state representative. There was a very large crowd but the building was large enough that one didn't feel crowed or squeezed in. I still prefer Twin Lakes to walk my cocker spaniel, but with winter approaching, I aim to take advantage of some of indoor classes.

I like to visit this new section of Twin Lakes Park. It has a great deal deal to offer. There is…read morea skate park, dog park, playground, exercise course, walking path, pavilions, sled riding hill and deck hockey arena. No excuses to say you're bored. I occasionally bring my dog to the dog park to play with some pals. My main complaint is that the dog park section is on a fairly steep hill and it gets very muddy and it stays that way. There are three sections for the dogs, but usually one part is closed to let the grass recover. Also, my dog is on the smaller size and goes in the small dog section. Sometimes people let their bigger dogs in that section. She gets run over even though it's play. Parking is good, but it does get crowded by the deck hockey arena and dog park.

The place was closing within 15 minutes but I had the opportunity to meet with a couple of staff and learn about the place. Hanna's Town is a national historic site not often noted during the pre and during the Revolutionary War. We learned that it was the first English court west of the Allegheny Mountains and this town had more prominence than Pittsburgh which had yet to be developed. The settlers adapted what was called the Hanna's town resolves which fueled the movement towards independence. It was also was an important site during the war recruiting men for the Continental Army and for the militia that aided the western campaigns against the Indian allies of the British. The actual town itself was burned by Indians and British allies in 1782 and a partial recreated village was built in its place to show the hard lives the early settlers had and the important part they played in achieving American Independence. A lady let us view a one room house with bare floors that had table and chairs, a bed, and a fireplace along with dishes and other things needed for a frontier lifestyle. One can only imagine what life must have been like in that period. I had an opportunity to tour the fort on the grounds and saw various items such as a fireplace, the frame of a TeePee, and a memorial to a 12 year girl by the daughters of the American Revolution who gave her lives to the Indians. With very little time we were allowed into the gift shop where they have additional artifacts about the town itself. They offer tours which last 1 1/2 hours and since they were closing asked us to return for one. Tours are only $5.00 but you can get $1.00 off if you are AAA member or Senior Citizen. I was given a pamphlet where I learned they host events, court reenactments, antique and collectibles markets and other things. This is definitely a must return trip since it will give me an opportunity to learn more about the colonial lifestyle. Located on Forbes Trail Road it is an easy drive to Greensburg.

Across the street you find the stockade, schoolroom, and visitor center.. Sadly it was closed when I arrived but I did enjoy the buildings. I love history and these old buildings are amazing. I love old forts too ;)

Until yesterday this was my go to park with my family. It's scenic and clean and has a lot of…read morespace. They have a little store that offers boat rentals. Yesterday I rented two boats for an hour. I went out on the water and upon my return the lady told me that I was out there for 2 hours. I was actually on the water for 40 minutes so to my surprise I was speechless. She immediately questioned my integrity and basically said I was lying and that I was out there for two hours. She showed me the ticket which said 13:30, we were back by 2:20pm. But the way she was trying to prove her point led me to believe she had done this before and just looking for a few extra bucks. Personally I refuse to do business with people like this so for anyone thinking of going here and renting boats, just be careful and mindful of the check in and check out times.

The lower lake path is just over a mile long while the upper lake path is 0.9 miles. There are lots of things to do at the park and many trails throughout the woods. There is a very nice dog park now that has two areas for large dogs and an an area for smaller dogs. There are also many playgrounds for kids. The lakes or reservoirs themselves have gone to crap over the years and need to be cleaned up.

While there are several access points with free public…read moreparking, the leader of my biking group selected starting at Lynch Field where there was plenty of parking and a park building with clean restrooms. There is a climb at the start on blacktop paved trail but once through the mural-painted tunnel and all the way up the hill, it is a flat trail. There are a couple of road crossings and a section on an industrial road with a dedicated bike lane but the bulk of the gravel path travels parallel along the either live or retired railroad tracks. On the Saturday in August we went there were way more walkers than riders. It's not a long trail but there are a few places right of the trail to stop to shop, drink, and eat. Near the other end of the trail, it splits and you can decide which trailhead you want to end at before turning around or do both if you want to get a few more miles in. It was mostly overcast when we rode but I'd say it isn't a shady trail for the most part even though there are lots of trees along one side of it. Kudos to the volunteers that maintain the trail as it was well maintained on our ride. And being located in Greensburg, there are several places to grab a bite to eat and drink after being on the trail.
