My husband and I love going to this YMCA! The amenities are great, there are workout rooms available for classes or just for personal time to stretch or do your own floor exercises, lots of equipment for weight training (my newest interest), there is a large pool for lap swimming or a smaller pool for therapy/rehabilitation. The staff are always friendly, and I love all of the different programs they offer... child care while working out, kids camps, personal training, cooking classes, karate lessons, etc. I love going and seeing people of all ages focusing on their health and supporting one another. It's also a judgement-free environment, everyone can just focus on their own personal routine. I Highly recommend! read more

I just wanted to share an experience with Plum YMCA. I want everyone to realize that they really do not care about the kids and they will not hold their staff accountable. I recently learned in February that YMCA offered flag football. My boys were beyond excited for this. They have had a very hard year, I am going to leave out details. However this was the first thing they were looking forward to since. This occurred March of 2022. The boys attended the flag football camps on Wednesday (16th) and Saturday (19th).  Thursday the 17th I had called in and explained I wanted to join the YMCA and register the boys flag football. I had all intentions of paying and signing up for EVERYTHING that day which again was on the 17th. I was told by a staff member that I should come in on Monday and just do everything that day and I would eliminate the joining fee. I trusted her. I went into the YMCA that Monday to join(21st). She told me to do my registration online for flag football. I went online to register for the flag football session immediately after leaving. There was no flag football to sign up for. I called immediately (again still on the 21st) and was informed that registration had closed on the 19th. I talked to Michael Raible, who said initially there was nothing he could do. He did not apologize for the misdirection from his staff. He said he would call the gentleman in charge of the program to see what they could do. I called two days after this and promised a call the next day. I received a call today (the 29th, a week and some days later) His name is Fran. Fran explained it was nothing he could do and my boys would be placed on a waitlist. He said "out of fairness" Let's actually talk about what is fair and not fair in this situation. Anyway, I proceeded to call the director Ms. Kelly McIntrye who said essentially said that she was very sorry for the situation but there was nothing she could do. Her staff was trying to be helpful and just did not realize registration closed. Nothing was going to be done. Had I not had taken the steps before the 19th, I could understand the YMCAs stance. However it's very evident they do not care. They will not take accountability for their actions. Do not trust them. All my boys wanted to do was play, I was willing to register, they misdirected and did not rectify their mistake. I have since canceled my membership and gone with PISA. Very easy registration and that is simple. Please learn from what I did and beware. read more

Don't even bother. They lock you into a monthly contract and demand two weeks notice prior to cancelation. How are you supposed to predict a change in your personal or professional life two weeks ahead of time? Pardon me for not being psychic. They're thieves. Oh, and ignore the hair and dust bunnies on their classroom floors. Go to Planet Fitness instead. read more

I really enjoy coming this Y but the weekend hours are terrible. Especially since the Penn Hills Y has closed, the short weekend hours aren't convenient. Outside of the short hours, this is a great Y with a variety of family friendly activities. read more

We went to join this Y with another family. We were both treated so poorly by some staff that we left and will not consider going back. I would rather pay double for gym + pool than deal with rude employees. read more

We come here mainly for the pools. I love the outdoor pools especially since there is a decent toddler area. My only gripe is the hours the outdoor pool is open during the summer. It doesn't open until 12:15pm, I really would love to come in the mornings with my 3 year old daughter but they reserve the outdoor pool for the summer camp. My daughter goes down for her nap around 2:30 so we only get about an hour and a half to two hours to enjoy it. I also like that they have a family locker room with private bathrooms with showers. This is much easier to contain small children! The swim instructors have always been very nice and great with the infants and toddler classes. read more

The Sampson YMCA is not friendly to either the disabled or Seniors. Very few parking places for handicapped members and those spaces are not located in front of the building, but are off to the side and a very long walk. If you want to enter the front, because no handicap spaces are available, there is a very high curb that makes access impossible. On top of that, beginning January 1, 2019, they will no longer be participating in the Silver Sneakers program. The employee, Michael, I spoke with says it's no longer 'viable.' Guess we Seniors are looked upon as a bad investment, even though they get paid through Silver Sneakers. I'm done with this place! read more

It sounds like a nice Y... But the fact they charge by your income and not by your exp bothers me. Having an high income with lots if medical bills is worse than having an smaller income without any. It's not my fault I got cancer... Yet I can't afford 70 a month.. Sorry but this sliding fee scale is not very fair. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. The summer program for my kids was so horrible, I pulled my kids early. I have been told for over 2 weeks now that they have been working on getting my money refunded and I am still waiting. I have been working with a wonderful woman named Amy about my refund that is somehow missing. Jen however the admin has been nothing but rude and inconsiderate considering that it is MY money they have lost and do not know where it is to return it to me. Awful! WILL NEVER ATTEND THIS FACILITY AGAIN, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! And Jen's attitude toward me wanting my money back is just the icing on the cake. read more

The equipment is up to date and the locker rooms are clean and you can put a lock on your lockers. Indoor and outdoor pools are available. The staff is great. An easy 5 star. read more

We have a little paradise in our backyard! I am greeted by friendly people the moment I walk in the door. The swimming pool is divine for lap swimming with a scenic view of the woods through the large windows. I have seen 2 year old 's laughing with their teacher, thirty something's running on the numerous treadmills and 90 year olds enjoying the delightful warm swim/spa pool. I am thankful for all the hard work many people have done to make this such a delight! Thank You! read more
